Definitions
- the invention relates to a magazine for processing wire-end ferrules, which are connected to one another via connecting webs to form a wire-end ferrule strip, with a housing, the housing having at least one housing base and an insertion opening for inserting the wire-end ferrule strip.
- the invention relates to a hand tool for pressing ferrules with a stripped conductor end or with the strands of a conductor, with a pliers-like handle, with at least two pressing jaws that can be brought together by operating the handle and form a die in which the ferrule can be positioned and with a magazine are stored in the ferrules, the ferrules from the magazine can be fed to the die.
- the pressing of ferrules with a stripped conductor end or with the strands of a conductor is also known in the prior art as crimping.
- crimping two components are connected to each other through plastic deformation, so that there is a homogeneous connection between the conductor and the ferrule that is difficult to detach.
- Crimping is used as an alternative to soldering or welding when making electrical connections.
- the wires of a cable are positively connected to a ferrule. In this case, relatively high forces have to be applied.
- several ferrules are to be pressed one after the other with the corresponding conductors.
- there are crimping tools with a storage magazine in which ferrules are stored. After crimping a ferrule, the next ferrule can be inserted into the tool manually or automatically.
- the EP 2 182 595 A2 shows, for example, a removable magazine for a hand-operated crimping tool.
- the magazine has a cylindrical base body in which a plurality of channels distributed over the circumference are formed, in each of which individual housings, which are used to accommodate individual electrical contacts, are inserted. The electrical contacts are placed individually in the magazine.
- the DE 42 41 224 C1 discloses a crimping tool having a cylindrical magazine for receiving a ferrule strip.
- the magazine is arranged at a distance from the actual crimping station, so that the beginning of the ferrule strip is introduced from the magazine through an opening in the housing of the crimping tool into the area of a transport device.
- the transport device has, as an essential component, a transport wheel which has indentations distributed uniformly over its circumference and can be rotated about an axis.
- a single ferrule is separated from the strip during the actual crimping process.
- the connecting web between the foremost ferrule and the following ferrule is torn off by a movable pressing jaw pressing the front ferrule radially outwards, i.e. the normal radius of the indentations is exceeded, so that the front ferrule shifts radially outwards.
- the present invention is therefore based on the object of specifying a magazine for processing ferrules and a hand tool with a corresponding magazine, which ensure easier handling and an improvement in process reliability.
- the invention relates to a magazine in which the previously derived object is achieved.
- the magazine according to the invention is first and foremost characterized in that a transport wheel mounted so as to be rotatable about an axis of rotation is arranged in the housing, that the transport wheel has a plurality of depressions for receiving individual ferrules of a ferrule strip, with two depressions arranged adjacent to one another being separated from one another by an edge that by rotating the transport wheel, the wire-end ferrules of the wire-end ferrule strip can be successively brought into an assembly position are, in which the connecting web between two adjacent ferrules is at least partially severed from the edge of the corresponding recess.
- the indentations of the transport wheel are distributed over the circumference of the transport wheel, so that the indentations are designed like shovels and the transport wheel is designed accordingly as a paddle wheel.
- the indentations are arranged at equal distances from one another in the circumferential direction.
- the ferrules can each be arranged in the recesses.
- the connecting webs with which the ferrules are connected are arranged directly on the edges of the recesses.
- the edges of the depressions or the edges of the transport wheel serve at the same time as separating knives, which are moved towards one another during the separating process together with a housing wall or a component fitted in the housing. In this way, the transport wheel can be rotated in the housing, for example, until one of the edges approaches the component or the housing wall at a desired point in the housing.
- a further rotation of the transport wheel approaches the edge of the recess and thus also the connecting web located on the edge of the housing inner wall or the component in such a way that the distance between the edge and the housing wall becomes minimal.
- a further rotation causes the flexible connecting web to be compressed and ultimately severed, so that a ferrule is separated from the ferrules connected to form a strip.
- the cutting of the ferrule is performed in the vicinity of the assembly position of the ferrule. This increases process reliability, since the ferrules remain connected to form a strip until the time of assembly or the insertion of a conductor into the ferrule and individual ferrules cannot be positioned incorrectly in the magazine.
- an advantageous embodiment of the invention provides that the housing has at least one housing base, that an opening is formed in the housing base, with a ferrule located in the assembly position being arranged in the immediate vicinity of the opening.
- the ferrule can be removed from the magazine through the opening.
- the opening can be funnel-shaped be designed.
- the housing of the magazine can have any geometry.
- the housing is preferably designed in the shape of a cylinder. However, it can also have another rotationally symmetrical shape. It is also conceivable that the housing is designed in the manner of a spiral or in the form of a spiral.
- the transport wheel is surrounded by a housing wall which has at least one spiral-shaped section in which the distance between the edges of the depressions and the housing wall in the direction of the opening decreases in the radial direction.
- the distance between the edges of the recess and the housing wall consequently decreases steadily in the circumferential direction of the transport wheel in the direction of the opening. In this way, a respective edge of the impeller approaches the housing wall as the rotation of the impeller progresses, until the distance is minimal.
- the connecting web between two wire-end ferrules is still located on the edge of the recess, which separates the two adjacent recesses from one another.
- the connecting web is pressed against the edge of the recess of the transport wheel. Since the distance steadily decreases with further rotation of the transport wheel due to the spiral configuration of the section of the housing wall, the connecting web is severed at the minimum distance between the edge of the depression and the housing wall. The cutting through of the connecting web takes place in the radial direction, starting from the center of the transport wheel.
- the housing has a housing top wall which is arranged above the transport wheel and which, together with the housing wall and the transport wheel, forms a Guide channel for the ferrule strip forms that the Housing top wall has a slope, so that the height of the guide channel decreases towards the opening.
- the distance between the indentations and the upper wall of the housing consequently decreases steadily in the circumferential direction of the transport wheel in the direction of the opening. In this way, starting from the insertion opening, the ferrules are pushed deeper into the recesses as the transport wheel rotates, since the distance from the top wall of the housing continues to decrease.
- the indentations can be designed in such a way that they receive the ferrules in a form-fitting manner without play and are designed to be deeper overall than the longitudinal extension of the ferrules, so that they can be inserted further into the indentations with little resistance. If the distance between the edges of the depressions and the housing wall or a component fitted in the housing decreases as the transport wheel rotates, the connecting web between the ferrules will not be severed uniformly in the radial direction, i.e. at every point simultaneously. Rather, the connecting web is at least partially severed axially due to the simultaneous axial movement of the wire end sleeves.
- the ferrule sleeves are moved along a curved path during the partial severing and are additionally displaced at least temporarily in the direction of rotation by the incline of the upper wall of the housing. In this way, the connecting webs are severed axially, that is to say continuously along the longitudinal extent of the ferrules.
- a funnel-shaped conductor insertion opening is formed in the top wall of the housing for easy insertion of a conductor or the strands of a conductor into the ferrule.
- the conductor insertion opening and the opening in the housing base are in one line, so that they have a common longitudinal axis.
- the longitudinal axis preferably runs parallel to the axis of rotation of the transport wheel.
- the common longitudinal axis of the conductor insertion opening and the opening runs obliquely in relation to the axis of rotation of the transport wheel or is arranged at an angle to the axis of rotation that is not equal to 0 degrees. In this way it is possible to insert a conductor at an angle to the housing.
- a conductor or the strands of a conductor can preferably also be inserted parallel to the axis of rotation of the transport wheel into the conductor insertion opening.
- the ferrule When the ferrule is in the mounting position, it is located between the conductor entry hole and the opening.
- the ferrule is in the assembly position arranged in its longitudinal extent on the common longitudinal axis of the conductor insertion opening and the opening.
- the conductor insertion opening initially has a larger cross section in the direction of insertion, which further decreases in the direction of insertion, so that an inserted conductor is automatically positioned.
- the conductor is inserted through the conductor insertion opening into the ferrule, which is in the assembly position.
- the funnel-shaped recess can be bordered by two funnel halves.
- the funnel halves rest against each other when the strands are inserted and thus offer precise guidance of the strands of the conductor.
- the funnel halves are pushed apart by the wire insulation and ultimately by the wire end ferrules so that they are sufficiently far apart from one another to remove the wire end ferrule.
- the opening through which the ferrule can be guided at least partially out of the housing can also be funnel-shaped and/or bordered by two separate funnel halves, so that the ferrule is positioned accordingly.
- the insulating collar of the ferrule remains in the magazine, since it has a larger diameter than the opening.
- a stop is formed at the opening, by which a complete removal of the ferrule from the housing is blocked, so that only part of the ferrule is guided out of the housing for pressing and the insulating collar of the ferrule remains in the magazine.
- a preferred embodiment of the magazine according to the invention provides that the distance between the housing wall and the opposite edge of the depression, which is arranged in the area of the opening, is dimensioned in such a way that the connecting web is more than 60%, in particular more than 80%, is severed. In the assembly position and before a conductor is inserted, the connecting web is therefore not completely severed. After inserting a conductor into the ferrule, which is in the assembly position, the connecting web between the ferrule in the assembly position and the other ferrules is completely separated. In the case of an axial cut, part of the connecting web is not severed in the axial direction.
- the insertion of the conductor ensures that the connecting web is completely severed.
- the connecting bridge is already weakened to such an extent when the conductor is inserted that insertion is sufficient to rip the ferrule off the rest of the ferrule strip. This applies analogously to a radial cut or the radial severing of the connecting web.
- the connecting web is pressed against the edge of the indentation and is already weakened to such an extent that the insertion of the conductor is sufficient to completely separate the ferrule from the strip. It is conceivable that the ferrule is pressed even further into the depression when the conductor is inserted through the conductor insertion opening, so that a complete separation of the ferrule from the rest of the strip is possible.
- the opening is in line with the conductor insertion opening. In this way, a conductor can be inserted through the conductor insertion opening into a ferrule in the mounting position. If the conductor is moved further into the conductor insertion opening, the ferrule detaches from the remainder of the ferrule strip and the ferrule is conveyed at least partially out of the housing together with the conductor through the opening for further processing. Due to the funnel-shaped conductor insertion opening, the conductor is ideally aligned with the ferrule. The opening below the ferrule allows the ferrule to be ideally positioned with the conductor inserted for further processing.
- a positioning device is arranged between the transport wheel and the housing, which causes a gradual rotation of the transport wheel.
- the positioning device gives the user a feeling as to whether the transport wheel is positioned in such a way that at least one ferrule is in the assembly position.
- the positioning device can provide haptic feedback so that when the transport wheel rotates, the user is informed that the assembly position has been reached. Visual or acoustic signals from the positioning device would also be conceivable.
- a preferred way of determining the position is a latching mechanism so that the transport wheel latches in the assembly position. In this way, the transport wheel is initially locked in the assembly position and the ferrule is ideally aligned with the conductor insertion opening and thus also with a correspondingly inserted conductor.
- the positioning device is realized by a spring-loaded ball detent.
- the ball detent is characterized in that a ball or hemisphere or a similarly spherical object that is acted upon by a spring force serves as a detent.
- the resilient locking lug engages in the corresponding locking recesses in the transport wheel.
- a latching recess can be provided on the transport wheel in the area of each depression, since each depression can be brought into the mounting position of the ferrules due to the rotation of the transport wheel. Due to the rounded detent, the ball detent can be easily released without the detent mechanism and the corresponding components experiencing excessive wear. Nevertheless, the locking function is strong enough to give the user haptic feedback that the mounting position has been reached.
- one embodiment of the invention provides that the housing is at least partially transparent, so that it can be seen from the outside how many ferrules are arranged in the housing.
- the housing can be made transparent, particularly in the area of the upper wall of the housing, which is arranged parallel to the transport wheel, so that the view of the entire transport wheel and the recesses is possible. This allows the user to easily see how many ferrules are still in the housing. It would also be conceivable for the housing to be transparent in the area of the side walls or the lateral surface of a cylindrical housing, for example, so that a view of the peripheral side of the transport wheel is possible. Accordingly, it is also possible to recognize the ferrules in the depressions in order to insert further ferrules strips through the insertion opening into the magazine in good time before they are used up.
- the rotation of the transport wheel can be simplified by providing, in one embodiment of the magazine according to the invention, a feed element which is connected to the transport wheel in such a way that rotation of the feed element causes the transport wheel to rotate.
- the feed element can be arranged outside the housing so that it is easily accessible for the user.
- the feed element can have the shape of a wheel, for example.
- the feed element can, similar to that Transport wheel, be provided with equally spaced indentations. In this way, the feed element has a better grip on the one hand, so that rotation is easier to carry out, and on the other hand the user can use the indentations to orientate himself and roughly estimate how far the feed element has to be rotated in order to reach the next assembly position.
- the feed element can protrude beyond the housing so that it can be easily reached with the fingers.
- the feed element does not have to be in the form of a wheel. It can have any shape.
- the feed element is preferably arranged parallel to the transport wheel on the same axis of rotation, so that a direct transmission onto the transport wheel can be implemented. However, it is also conceivable that the feed element is arranged offset perpendicularly or parallel to the axis of rotation and is connected to the transport wheel via a gear.
- the invention relates to a hand tool for pressing wire-end ferrules with a stripped conductor end or with the strands of a conductor with a magazine for wire-end ferrules, in which the previously derived object is achieved.
- the hand tool according to the invention is first and foremost characterized in that the magazine is designed according to the invention.
- the hand tool With hand tools, it is possible to positively connect the ferrule to the conductor or to the strands of a conductor. A joining process, crimping, is used for this.
- the wire-end ferrule is placed in the die with the conductor inserted and pressed together by the pressing jaws in such a way that the wire-end ferrule and the part of the conductor located in the wire-end ferrule undergo plastic deformation.
- the hand tool can have a toggle lever, since the transmission ratio between the force exerted and the resulting force or from the primary stroke to the secondary stroke shifts continuously during the movement and thus initially higher speeds of the pressing jaws with less force and in the crucial area a low speed can be achieved with a high force.
- Wire-end ferrules into which a conductor has already been inserted in the above-mentioned advantageous manner, can be fed to the die of the hand-held tool through the magazine connected to the hand-held tool.
- the ferrule can then be positioned directly in the die of the hand tool via the opening in the housing base of the magazine.
- the opening of the magazine is arranged directly above the die of the hand tool.
- a ferrule that is in the assembly position can thus receive a conductor through the conductor insertion opening.
- the ferrule disengages from the ferrule strip and continues through the opening directly into the die of the hand tool.
- the ferrule is consequently introduced into the die of the hand tool, preferably parallel to the axis of rotation of the transport wheel, just like an inserted conductor.
- the rerouting means interact with the pliers-like handle and the pressing jaws in such a way that by manually operating the handle, at least one wire-end ferrule can be pressed with a stripped conductor. In this way, the user can press the ferrules onto a conductor with as little effort as possible by merely manually actuating the handle.
- the magazine is releasably connected to the hand tool, in particular by a latching connection.
- the magazine can be mounted on the hand tool, for example, by a rotary movement, similar to a bayonet catch, or by plugging it on.
- the magazine is precisely positioned using pins or other elevations that are formed on the magazine and engage in corresponding recesses.
- the pins or elevations can also be formed on the frame of the hand tool and the corresponding recesses on the magazine. This means that a tight tolerance can be achieved between the funnel-shaped opening on the bottom of the magazine housing and the center of the dies.
- the latching can also be realized, for example, by bent holding elements which engage behind the hand tool on the opposite side on which the magazine is attached. The positioning of the magazine prevents the Magazine thus excluded, although the magazine can be easily attached to the hand tool.
- more than two pressing jaws are provided in an advantageous embodiment of the hand tool according to the invention, so that there is a symmetrical compression between the ferrule and the stripped end of the conductor or with the strands of the conductor.
- the press jaws are then not only moved towards one another from two sides, but are also moved towards one another from several directions in such a way that a symmetrical cross section is created between the press jaws, i.e. a symmetrical die is formed.
- An advantage of using more than two dies is that the geometry of the die remains the same or very similar over a large cross-sectional area.
- the press jaws close in the manner of a diaphragm, which means that the geometry of the cross section of the die does not noticeably change when it is closed, since the press jaws are moved evenly towards one another.
- the pressing jaws are arranged in such a way that a square pressing takes place. In an alternative embodiment of the invention, it is provided that the pressing jaws are arranged in such a way that hexagonal pressing takes place.
- the magazine 1 shows a magazine 1 for processing arranged in the magazine 1 ferrules 2, which are connected to each other via connecting webs 3 to form a strip 4 ferrules.
- the magazine 1 comprises a cylindrical housing 5 with a housing base 6 and an insertion opening 7 for the ferrule strip 4 .
- the ferrules 2 are isolated.
- the separation is carried out as follows:
- the transport wheel 9 has indentations 10 in which the ferrules 2 are arranged.
- the connecting webs 3 of the ferrule strip 4 lie on the edges 11 of the depressions 10.
- the transport wheel 9 is designed in the manner of a paddle wheel, so that the ferrules 2 are guided in a circle when the transport wheel 9 rotates, with a ferrule 2 being able to be brought into an assembly position is, in which it is arranged over an opening 12 in the housing base.
- a housing wall 13 of the housing 5 encloses the transport wheel 9 on the peripheral side.
- the housing wall 13 has a spiral section 14 .
- an outer housing wall 15 is arranged around the housing wall 13, through which the insertion opening 7 is enlarged by a circumferential length.
- longer ferrule strips 4 can also be introduced into the magazine 1, even if not all the ferrules 2 are arranged in the depressions 10 of the transport wheel 9 at the same time.
- several shorter ferrule strips 4 are arranged in the extended insertion opening 7 . However, these would then have to be moved manually by pushing them further into the engagement of the transport wheel 9 .
- fastening elements 16 are arranged on the housing 5, with which the magazine 1 can be attached to a (in Figures 8 - 11 shown) hand tool can be attached.
- a housing cover can be attached to the housing 5 by means of closure elements 17 .
- the closure elements 17 or the closure together with the cover works according to the principle of a bayonet closure.
- the cover is rotated relative to the housing 5.
- Latching hooks corresponding to the closure elements 17 are formed on the cover and engage in the closure elements 17 so that the cover can no longer be lifted off.
- FIG. 2 shows a part of a further embodiment of a magazine 1, in which a housing top wall 18 is shown.
- the upper housing wall 18 delimits, together with the transport wheel 9 and the housing wall 13, a guide channel 19 in which the ferrules 2 are guided.
- the guide channel 19 has a bevel 20 on the upper wall 18 of the housing. This means that the distance between the transport wheel 9 and the upper housing wall 18 decreases in the direction of the opening 12 in the circumferential direction.
- the spiral-shaped section 14 of the housing wall 13 simultaneously guides the edges 11 of the depressions 10 closer to the housing wall 13 .
- the connecting webs 3 of the ferrule strip 4 are consequently not only cut radially, but rather from bottom to top, ie cut axially and parallel to the axis of rotation 8 of the transport wheel 9 .
- the connecting webs 3 of the ferrule strips 4 are preferably not completely severed. A small remainder of the connecting webs 3 remains when the ferrule 2 is in the assembly position. In this way, the ferrule 2 cannot be moved in the housing 5 unintentionally. Only when a conductor, not shown here, is inserted with its stripped end through a conductor insertion opening 21 into the ferrule 2 in the assembly position, is the force exerted on the ferrule 2 during insertion sufficient to completely sever the connection.
- the assembly position can easily be determined using a positioning device 22 .
- This is a spring-loaded ball detent within the housing 5.
- locking recesses 24, which are made in the axle of the transport wheel 9 are pushed over moves a ball acted upon by a spring force.
- the ball acts as a latching lug for the corresponding latching recesses 24, so that each time the ball is pressed into a latching recess 24 due to the spring force, the user is signaled by the easily detachable latching connection that the assembly position of another ferrule 2 has been reached is.
- FIG 3 shows the embodiment according to FIG 2 in a side view without ferrules 2. This clearly shows the guide channel 19, which loses height over the circumference due to the slope 20.
- the ferrules 2 are pushed further and further into the recesses 10 by the continuous incline 20 and at the same time are partially axially separated from one another by the edges 11 of the recesses 10 .
- the opening 12 can be seen in the housing base 6.
- the opening 12 is located below the mounting position of a ferrule 2. If a ferrule 2 is in the mounting position, a conductor can be inserted through the conductor insertion opening 21 be inserted into the ferrule 2 with its stripped end. Pushing the conductor down further will make the connection completely severed between the ferrule 2 and the ferrule strip 4.
- the ferrule 2 can then be guided through the opening 12 together with the conductor and then processed further. After processing, the pressed ferrule 2 can be removed together with the conductor from the magazine 1 and the transport wheel 9 rotated until the assembly position of the next ferrule 2 is reached.
- figure 5 1 shows a magazine 1 with a feed element 23 in the form of a feed wheel, which is arranged above the housing 5.
- FIG. For better handling, the advancing element 23 is designed over the circumference in the form of a gear wheel. This makes it easier to grip for a user and simplifies rotation. In addition, it protrudes laterally beyond the housing cover in order to be better accessible for the user's fingers.
- the feed element 23 has a plurality of circular recesses 25 since it can be rotated together with the transport wheel 9 and thus relative to the housing 5 .
- the circular recesses 25 are consequently positioned over the ferrules 2, so that with each rotation of the transport wheel 7 into the mounting position of a ferrule 2, a circular recess 25 is arranged over the conductor insertion opening 21 to allow a conductor to be inserted into the ferrule 2 in the mounting position make possible.
- the feed element 23 is arranged on the housing base 6 and can only be reached from one side of the housing 5 .
- the feed element 23 is not centered on the axis of rotation 8 of the transport wheel 9, but offset thereto.
- FIG 7 shows the arrangement of the feed element 23 according to FIG 6 , together with the transport wheel.
- the feed element 23 is connected to the transport wheel 9 via a gear 26 so that the feed element 23 can be offset from the transport wheel 9 .
- other types of gearing for rotating the transport wheel 9 in the same direction as the feed element 23 rotates are also readily conceivable for corresponding applications.
- the hand tool 27 has a pliers-like handle 28 which is intended to move a plurality of pressing jaws, not shown here, towards one another.
- the pressing jaws form a die into which the ferrule 2 can be inserted and pressed.
- a magazine 1 for processing ferrules 2 is attached to the hand tool 27 .
- the magazine 1 is arranged in such a way that the opening 12 of the magazine is positioned in such a way that passing a ferrule 2 with an inserted conductor through the opening 12 out of the magazine 1 at least partially results in the ferrule 2 being automatically inserted into the die is inserted.
- the opening 12 is thus located directly above the die.
- the wire-end ferrules 2 are introduced into the magazine 1 in connected wire-end ferrule strips 4 and separated within the magazine 1 .
- a conductor can be inserted through the conductor insertion opening 21 into a ferrule 2 which is in the assembly position.
- the conductor is guided together with the ferrule 2 through the opening 12 of the magazine 1 directly into the die of the hand tool 27 and is ideally positioned.
- a crimp connection between the end of the conductor and a ferrule 2 can then be produced with the aid of the hand tool 27 .
- the conductor is pulled out of the magazine 1 together with the ferrule 2.
- the feed element 23 can then be rotated further so that another ferrule 2 is placed in the assembly position and the next crimping process can be started.
- the 10 and 11 show a hand tool 27 with a handle 28 in two different views.
- a magazine 1 for processing ferrules 2 according to FIG figure 5 arranged.
