Description

    FIELD OF THE INVENTION
  • The present invention relates to a coated non-woven sheet. The sheet of the present invention provides improved longevity of freshness, especially fabric odor performance.
  • BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • Fabric treatment products such as laundry detergents and fabric enhancers typically deposit perfume onto the treated fabric to provide a freshness benefit, and especially a freshness benefit to the dry fabric. The present invention seeks to provide an improvement in the longevity of this freshness benefit, especially the longevity of the dry fabric odor performance benefit.
  • The inventors have found that a coated non-woven sheet that uses specific amounts of perfume, specific perfume raw materials and high levels of a specific hydrophobic carrier material can provide improved longevity of the freshness benefit, especially the longevity of the dry fabric odor performance benefit.
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • The present invention relates to a coated non-woven sheet, wherein the coating comprises a single-phase mixture, wherein the single-phase mixture comprises: (a) from 33wt% to 67wt% perfume; and (b) at least 33wt% hydrophobic carrier material selected from wax esters, wax alcohols, fatty alcohols, fatty acids, and mixtures thereof.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
  • A coated non-woven sheet: The non-woven sheet is coated with a coating comprising a single-phase mixture, wherein the single-phase mixture comprises:
    1. (a) from 33wt% to 67wt% perfume; and
    2. (b) at least 33wt% hydrophobic carrier material selected from wax esters, wax alcohols, fatty alcohols, fatty acids, and mixtures thereof.
  • Coating: The coating comprises a single-phase mixture.
  • It may be preferred that the coating comprises clay, wherein the clay is in the form of a discontinuous phase, and wherein the single-phase mixture at least partially surrounds the discontinuous phase clay.
  • Single-phase mixture: The single-phase mixture comprises:
    1. (a) from 33wt% to 67wt% perfume; and
    2. (b) at least 33wt% hydrophobic carrier material selected from wax esters, wax alcohols, fatty alcohols, fatty acids, and mixtures thereof.
  • It may be preferred that the single-phase mixture comprises:
    1. (a) from 40wt% to 60wt% perfume; and
    2. (b) at least 33wt% hydrophobic carrier material selected from wax esters, wax alcohols, fatty alcohols, fatty acids, and mixtures thereof.
  • Perfume: It may be preferred that the perfume comprises at least 66wt% of perfume raw materials having a boiling point of at least 250°C.
  • Hydrophobic carrier material: The hydrophobic carrier material is selected from wax esters, wax alcohols, fatty alcohols, fatty acids, and mixtures thereof
  • Suitable waxes may be natural or synthetic. Suitable waxes suitable include beeswax, candellia wax, ozocerite, japan wax, carbowax, Fischer-Tropsch waxes, carnauba wax, petroleum wax, and any combination thereof Petroleum wax includes paraffin wax, polyoelfins, amorphous and microcrystalline waxes.
  • Water-insoluble laundry dryer sheet: The water-insoluble laundry dryer sheet can be coated with a coating that comprises a second mixture, wherein the second mixture comprises a cationic fabric softener alkyl ester quaternary ammonium compound and optionally clay and optionally perfume.
  • Second mixture: The second mixture may comprise a cationic fabric softener alkyl ester quaternary ammonium compound and optionally clay and optionally additional perfume
  • Water-soluble laundry detergent sheet: The sheet may be a water-soluble laundry detergent sheet.
  • The water-soluble laundry detergent sheet may comprise a detersive surfactant.
  • Water-insoluble mop sheet: The sheet may be a water-insoluble mop sheet.
  • Process for making a water-insoluble laundry dryer sheet: A suitable process for making a water-insoluble laundry dryer sheet sheet defined above comprises the steps of:
    1. (a) forming the single-phase mixture by contacting the perfume with the wax, wherein the wax is in molten form at a temperature above its melting point;
    2. (b) contacting the single-phase mixture to the sheet to at least partially coat the sheet;
    3. (c) contacting the second mixture to the sheet to at least partially coat the sheet; and
    4. (d) cooling the wax to a temperature below its melting point,
    wherein the single-phase mixture and the second mixture are contacted to the sheet in two separate streams.
  • Step (a): Step (a) forms the single-phase mixture by contacting the perfume with the hydrophobic carrier material, wherein the hydrophobic carrier material is in molten form at a temperature above its melting point.
  • Step (b): Step (b) contacts the single-phase mixture to a non-woven sheet to at least partially, preferably completely, coat the sheet.
  • Step (c): Step (c) contacts a second mixture to the sheet obtained in step (b) to at least partially, preferably completely, coat the sheet.
  • Step (d): Step (d) cools the hydrophobic material to a temperature below its melting point to form the sheet.
