Bottles are a popular storage container, especially for liquids. They are used for drinks such as water, milk, wine, juice or alcoholic drinks, as well as for oils or for cosmetic or medical liquids. A typical material for making bottles is glass, as glass is food-safe and inert, easy to shape and relatively inexpensive. Glass is also a popular bottle material from an environmental point of view.

It is common to decorate glass bottles for advertising purposes but also for optical reasons. This is done, for example, with labels, embossing on the bottle, engravings or objects attached to the bottle.

From the EN 10 2006 011 282 A1 A glass bottle with a decorative object arranged inside the bottle is known. To insert the object, the bottom of the bottle is separated from the bottle body and a new functional bottom made of glass is inserted, to which the decorative object is attached. This creates a closed glass bottle with a glass bottom. Accordingly, only glass objects that are fused to the glass bottom can be inserted into the bottle.

US6,740,849 B1 describes a two-layer water glass bottle with dynamic heat assembly, similar to that known in lava lamps or decorative lamps, for example. The outer glass bottle has a base attachment that is sealed with gaskets. An inner bottle, which is inserted into the outer bottle, is attached to the center of the base attachment with adhesive.

US 2009/039045 A1 reveals a drinking bottle with a cooling element attached inside. The drinking bottle has a drinking opening with a valve.

US 2005/061800 A1 also reveals a water glass bottle with dynamic heat treatment, in which a decorative element is placed inside. The seal and structure of the base are similar to the US6,740,849 B1 designed.

The object of the present invention is to provide a glass bottle which overcomes the aforementioned disadvantages, into which any decorative elements can be incorporated and which allows the storage of food. Furthermore, the object of the present invention is to provide a method for producing such a glass bottle.

The object is achieved according to the invention by a glass bottle according to patent claim 1 and a manufacturing method according to patent claim 12.

Further embodiments are the subject of the subclaims or described below.

The glass bottle according to the invention has an inserted hard base, the base insert, and a three-dimensional decorative element inside the bottle, i.e. the bottle interior. The glass bottle according to the invention has
  • a hollow glass body that has the shape of a bottle,
  • if necessary, sealing elements, which can also be molded onto the base insert,
  • a ground insert, and
  • a three-dimensional decorative element in the interior of the glass bottle.

The glass hollow body has an opening in the bottom, whereby the opening is arranged centrally/concentrically in the case of a round bottle bottom, for example. In one embodiment, the opening is a circular opening. The size and shape of the base insert corresponds to the opening in the base of the hollow glass body and closes the opening in the hollow glass body with a force fit and/or a material fit. The force fit closure is preferably made with a clamp connection, screw connection or flange connection. The material fit closure is preferably made with an adhesive connection. A combination of a material fit adhesive connection and a force fit clamp connection, e.g. with a sealing ring or a flange connection, is preferably used. In both cases, an additional seal is preferably used to ensure a food-safe separation between the contents of the bottle and the adhesive point and unnecessary stress on the adhesive point from the liquid in the bottle, such as alcohols or other hydrocarbons. The base insert is made of metal or plastic and not glass. The base insert is used to hold a three-dimensional decorative element, which can be firmly or variably connected to the base insert. A holding device is attached to the top of the base insert, which is directed into the glass bottle. For example, a mounting device in the form of a threaded piece or a threaded hole is possible. The three-dimensional decorative element is attached to the mounting device and is located inside the bottle.

According to the invention, "bottom" refers to the outside of the bottle bottom, i.e. the area of a bottle standing on a surface. "Outside" refers to the outside of the bottle, while inside refers to the inside of the bottle, i.e. the interior of the bottle.

The base insert is preferably designed as a flat plate or disc. It can be made of solid material or, like a lid, partially have a negative form, i.e. a cavity. The base insert preferably has a peripheral outer edge, which is located in the lower area of the base insert and preferably forms a plane with the outside of the base insert. In a round base insert, the peripheral outer edge is radially peripheral. If the base insert partially has a cavity, the cavity is also preferably located on the lower, outward-facing side of the base insert on the the side opposite the receiving device. When installed, the base insert can be level with the edge of the glass base or can be offset upwards or downwards so that the glass bottle stands either only on the edge of the glass base, the edge of the glass base and the base insert or only on the base insert. In one embodiment, the base insert has a stepped recess on the peripheral outer edge, the inner step closer to the center of the bottle being higher than the outer step and the inner step forming a stop surface for the underside of the hollow glass body. On the outside of the base, for example in the cavity, an element can be arranged, such as a hexagon, which facilitates the assembly of the three-dimensional decorative element.

The connection between the base insert and the holder can be additionally sealed with a sealant, e.g. an O-ring or a liquid sealant such as Loctite ® .

A glass bottle is a vessel made of glass with a narrow bottle opening and a neck, a bottle wall or walls and a bottle base. The glass bottle according to the invention can have any bottle shape, preferably with a round or rectangular base and a cylindrical, conical or cuboid-shaped base body that runs into the bottle neck and the bottle opening. The hollow glass body is preferably made of transparent, particularly preferably colorless glass, which is also referred to as white glass. The glass bottle can be decorated in a commercially available manner, e.g. printed, engraved or provided with a label, whereby the decoration is not part of the bottle according to the invention.

In one embodiment, the outer edge of the glass bottle base is formed by the hollow glass body, which is referred to below as the glass base edge. The base insert is inserted into the opening so that the entire bottle base consists of a combination of the base insert and the glass base edge of the hollow glass body. In this embodiment, the glass base edge preferably has a recess on its underside. The recess forms a stop for the base insert. This stop is preferably used as an adhesive gap when the base insert is connected to the hollow glass body with adhesive. In an alternative embodiment, the glass bottle base is formed entirely by the base insert. The opening is then formed by the walls of the hollow glass body rising to the bottle neck.

The glass bottom edge preferably has a step-shaped recess on the underside, which forms a stop surface for the bottom insert. The step-shaped recess can alternatively be arranged on the outer wall of the hollow glass body. In one embodiment, the height of the step corresponds to the height of the peripheral outer edge of the bottom insert. The inventive Glass bottle has a glass bottom edge on the hollow glass body and the stepped recess is arranged on the underside of the glass bottom edge. For example, the outer edge of the glass bottle bottom and the bottom insert can form a flat surface and thereby a flat bottle bottom on which the glass bottle stands. The stop surface serves as a surface against which a surface of the bottom insert strikes, with the two surfaces coming to rest on top of each other. In one embodiment, an adhesive is applied to the stop surface so that the stop surface simultaneously forms the adhesive surface. In a further embodiment, the stepped recess has a second step so that the higher step forms the stop surface and the lower step forms the adhesive surface.

The step-shaped recess can be designed as a right-angled step. The opening preferably also has a bevel with partially bevelled sides on its edges on the underside, which faces the outside of the bottle.

Particularly preferably, the bottom insert is axially sealingly connected to the bottom edge of the hollow glass body by means of an adhesive bond.

In a further embodiment, the glass bottle according to the invention additionally has at least one radial sealing means that is attached to the base insert, preferably a sealing ring, e.g. an O-ring, a liquid seal or another food-grade sealing means. The sealing ring preferably consists of EPDM (ethylene propylene diene rubber). Alternatively, the glass bottle according to the invention additionally has at least one axial sealing means, which is less preferred according to the invention.

The base insert preferably consists of stainless steel, aluminum, brass, bronze, plastic or a tinned metal plate or a combination of these materials. According to the invention, the base insert is not made of glass.

The bottle according to the invention can, for example, have any shape customary for spirits bottles, wine bottles, juice bottles, oil bottles or beer bottles. The glass bottle according to the invention is preferably a drinks bottle.

The glass bottle according to the invention preferably has a size and a volume like a conventional drinks bottle. The glass bottle according to the invention preferably has a volume of 0.5 l, 0.75 l, 1 l, 1.5 l, 2 l, but magnum bottles with 5 l, 6 l, 10 l or 20 l are also possible. The glass bottle according to the invention preferably has a volume of 0.25 l to 20 l, particularly preferably 0.5 l to 20 l or 0.5 to 10 l. The glass bottle according to the invention is suitable for use in machine filling and for fulfillment on an industrial scale, as well as for production on an industrial scale.

The glass bottle according to the invention has a conventional bottle closure. The closure is, for example, a threaded closure, a snap closure, a crown cap, a swing top closure, a stopper, e.g. a glass stopper or a cork.

In a preferred embodiment, the base insert is connected to the hollow glass body using a UV adhesive or MS polymer adhesive. A UV adhesive is an adhesive that hardens using UV radiation, such as solvent-free, one-component acrylate adhesives that harden by radical polymerization, or cationically cross-linking epoxy adhesives. MS polymer adhesives are silane-modified polymer adhesives. The adhesive connection prevents the base insert from slipping out of the bottle. In this embodiment, the glass bottle according to the invention is preferably sealed using one or more O-rings. The O-rings are put over the outer edge of the base insert and come to rest in a groove between the edge of the opening in the bottle base and the outer edge of the base insert. The advantage of this embodiment is that the glass bottle according to the invention consists of only a few components, namely the hollow glass body, the base insert with the receiving device attached to it and the decorative element, as well as at least one O-ring for sealing if necessary. By sealing with a sealing ring, only a dampened relative movement of the base insert is possible.

In one embodiment, a holder for a form-fitting tool, preferably a hexagon, is attached to the underside of the base insert in a recess. The holder for a form-fitting tool serves to better guide a tool, such as an open-end wrench or Allen key, and enables better screwing between the base insert and the holder. In this case, the holder is, for example, a screw thread on the underside of the 3-dimensional decorative element and a threaded receiving opening inside the holder for the form-fitting tool.

Surprisingly, with the bottle according to the invention it is possible to combine glass with another material and still obtain a leak-proof bottle. The bottle is sealed liquid-tight, although the base consists of a separate component. The glass bottle according to the invention can be filled using a normal filling system after the base has been sealed.

The bottom insert of the bottle according to the invention has a dual function. Unlike conventional bottles, the bottom insert does not only serve as a seal. Rather, the bottom insert must also hold the three-dimensional decorative element incorporated into the bottle. The bottom insert therefore has the dual function of a sealing function and a holding function.

Figure 3b shows a section of the lower part of the glass bottle from Figure 3a after assembly. It can be seen that the base insert 3 closes the opening 6 in the hollow glass body 2. The sealing rings 11 are clamped between the edge of the base insert and the edge of the opening 6 and thus seal the base. The support surface 13 lies on the outer peripheral edge 10 of the base insert, with both being connected to one another with adhesive.
