Definitions
- the invention relates to a distribution package for use in laying distribution of clothes on hangers, the hangers having a hook portion and a clothes hanging portion.
- the invention also relates to a distribution parcel for laying distribution of clothes on hangers, the distribution parcel including a first and a second piece of clothing, and a distribution package.
- Laying distribution is useful for distribution of comparably small amount of clothes. It is easy to stack a number of distribution packages one over another when the packages rest on their respective major surfaces. The fact that it is useful for comparably small amount of clothes makes it possible to use the same package all the way from the manufacturing site to the clothing store without any need for repackaging at any central distribution facility.
- the combination of the attachment member and the associated abutment portions will effectively keep any hangers attached to respective attachment member in place and thereby also any clothing on such a hanger will be kept securely in place.
- the fact that the distribution package is provided with a second attachment member and second abutment portions in the opposite side of the package provides a good usage of the space available, since the hangers and the portions of the clothing at the hangers typically build height significantly more than the portions of the clothes at a distance from its associated hanger.
- the fact that the hangers will be kept in place and the clothing will be kept in place on the hangers will result in that the shape of the hangers shape will continue to support and protect the shape of the portion of the clothing wrapped around the clothes hanging portion of the hanger.
- the abutment portions may be adapted to interact with the clothes hanging portion of the hangers in different manners depending e.g. upon different properties of the clothes that are hung on the respective hanger.
- the abutment portions are positioned relative to the attachment member and designed relative to the hanger such that the portion of the clothes wrapped around the upper edge of the straight or inclined clothes hanging portion of the hanger is clamped between the abutment portions and the clothes hanging portion of the hanger.
- This clamping may be provided by an interference fit between the abutment portions and hanger as such.
- the clamping may be provided by a loose fit being smaller than the thickness of the portion of the clothing adapted to be positioned between the abutment portions and the hanger.
- the abutment portions are positioned relative to the attachment member and designed relative to the hanger such that there is a small play, i.e. a loose fit, between the abutment portions, the hanger and the clothing on the hanger. As long as the loose fit is not large enough to allow the hanger to be detached from the attachment member, the hanger will still be prevented from moving freely in the distribution package.
- the abutment portions are positioned relative to the attachment member and designed relative to the hanger such that a first portion of the clothes hanging portion abuts the abutment portions with an interference fit and a second portion of the clothes hanging portion abuts the abutment portions with a loose fit.
- the first portion may e.g. be a portion close to the stem of the hook portion where there is no portion of the clothing wrapped around the hanger and the second portion may be two portions, one on either side, where there is a portion of the clothes wrapped around the hanger.
- the first portion close to the stem of the hook abuts the abutment portions with a loose fit and a second portion, formed of two portions on either side of the first portion, abuts the abutment portions with an interference fit (interference fit as such or by a loose fit being smaller than the thickness of the clothing).
- an interference fit interference fit as such or by a loose fit being smaller than the thickness of the clothing.
- the abutment portions and the hanger may abut each other directly.
- the abutment portions and the hanger may abut each other directly in a loose fit and/or interference fit.
- the abutment portions and the hanger may abut each other indirectly, i.e. with a portion of the clothing between the abutment portions and the hanger.
- the abutment portions and the hanger may abut each other indirectly with an interference fit (interference fit as such or by a loose fit being smaller than the thickness of the clothing) or a loose fit (remaining loose also with clothing between the abutment portion and the hanger).
- the design may be provided with combinations of the above in respect of different portions of the abutment between the abutment portions and the hanger.
- the different portions may have an abutment according to any of the abutment versions direct/indirect/interference/loose may.
- a coordinate system with three orthogonal directions; a height extending between the bottom wall and top wall; a length extending between the first and second attachment members and a width extending along the extension of the clothes hanging portion of the clothes hangers.
- the different walls or other members may be inclined relative to each other. It is however often preferred that the top and bottom walls are parallel to each other in order to facilitate stacking of a plurality of distribution packages. Likewise is it often preferred that the sidewalls extend truly orthogonal to the top and bottom walls which will render them to extend truly vertically which is beneficial in view of their load bearing capacity during stacking of a plurality of distribution packages.
- the extension of the attachment members along the height direction may in one embodiment be such that they extend in parallel with the height direction.
- the attachment member may be designed such that it presents a single line of interaction and positioning of the hangers in respective set of hangers.
- the attachment member may be designed such that it presents two different lines of interaction and positioning of the hangers, e.g. depending upon if the hook is oriented in a left-hand or right-hand orientation along the width direction.
- the two different lines may be accomplished by two separate members forming said attachment member or by a single attachment member being asymmetrically designed. Asymmetrically may e.g. be in the sense that the design along the width and length on one side of a centre line along the length is different than the design along the width and length on the other side of said centre line.
- the attachment members extend inclined such that it extends also along the length as it extends along the height. This inclination may be continuous or step wise. With such a design, different hangers interacting with the attachment member will be offset neighbouring hangers or at least offset other hangers at a relevant distance in height.
- the abutment portions should be correspondingly formed such that the abutment portions associated with the respective hanger fulfils the requirement that they are adapted to interact with the clothes hanging portion of respective hanger to prevent movement of the respective hanger relative the abutment portions in a direction extending from the clothes hanging portion towards the hook portion of respective hanger
- the distribution package further comprises at least one removable intermediate plate adapted to be positioned at a height between the bottom wall and the top wall to aid in keeping the clothes in place during distribution.
- intermediate plate With the introduction of intermediate plate it becomes possible to separate clothes individually or into sets of clothes along the height direction. Thereby the clothes are given even less possibility to move during distribution.
- the intermediate plate is preferably made of paper or paper-board.
- the intermediate plate has preferably sufficient strength to be self-supporting, i.e. it can carry its own weight without any significant deformation.
- the intermediate plate is preferably self-supporting when the tongues are inserted into the slots of the abutment portions.
- the abutment portions comprise slots adapted to receive tongues of the intermediate plate to thereby hold the intermediate plate on said height. This way the intermediate plate will not only separate the clothes from each other but will also retain its position on the intended height.
- the top wall, bottom wall and side walls of the distribution package may be formed of paper board, preferably corrugated paper board. This is a material that is comparably cheap, easy to shape into a distribution package, light-weight and still capable of providing a distribution package protecting the clothes during distribution.
- the attachment members may be formed of paper board, preferably corrugated paper board. As mentioned above, this is a material that is comparably cheap, easy to shape into a distribution package, light-weight and still capable of providing a distribution package protecting the clothes during distribution.
- the walls are of paper board, preferably corrugated paper board and the attachment members and/or abutment portions are made of another material, such as a plastic material or a metal. It is e.g. conceivable that the walls and the abutment portions are of paper board, preferably corrugated paper board, and the attachment members is made of another material, such as a plastic material or a metal.
- the attachment member may be formed of a sheet being folded about one or more fold lines extending along the height direction. This is a useful way of provided a strong attachment member and still being able to design it of a paper board, preferably corrugated paper board.
- the first set of abutment portions may comprise a first abutment portion positioned in a width direction, transverse to the height direction, on one side of the first attachment member and a second abutment portion positioned in the width direction on another side of the first attachment member. This way it is prevented that the hanger swings from side to side and thereby any clothes are more securely kept in place in the distribution package.
- the second set of abutment portions may comprise a first abutment portion positioned in the width direction on one side of the second attachment member and a second abutment portion positioned in the width direction on another side of the second attachment member.
- the first and second abutment portions may comprise abutment surfaces extending in a plane extending on one hand in the height direction. This way the abutment portions will present an abutment surface towards the hanger and the clothes on the hanger even if the hanger and clothes will move slightly along the height direction.
- the first and/or second abutment portions comprises abutment surfaces extending in a plane extending away from its associated attachment member in an inclined direction having in a width direction, transverse to the height direction, a component away from its associated attachment member and in a length direction, transverse to both the height and width direction, a component towards the other attachment member.
- abutment surfaces extending in a plane extending away from its associated attachment member in an inclined direction having in a width direction, transverse to the height direction, a component away from its associated attachment member and in a length direction, transverse to both the height and width direction, a component towards the other attachment member.
- the first and/or second abutment portions may comprise abutment surfaces extending in a plane extending away from its associated attachment member in a width direction transverse to the height direction and transverse to a length direction.
- both the first and second abutment portions have the inclined extension. It may be noted that in another embodiment the first abutment portions have the inclined extension and the second abutment portions have the transverse extension. In this latter design, jackets on hangers are positioned at the first abutment portion and trousers or skirts on straight hangers are positioned at the second abutment portions.
- first and/or second abutment portions may as such also be combinations of inclined and transverse extensions, such that a central portion close to the attachment member e.g. is transverse and distal portions on either side are inclined, or vice versa.
- the abutment portions may be formed of paper board, preferably corrugated paper board. As mentioned above, this is a material that is comparably cheap, easy to shape into a distribution package, light-weight and still capable of providing a distribution package protecting the clothes during distribution.
- a distribution package for use in laying distribution of clothes on hangers, the hangers having a hook portion and a clothes hanging portion, wherein the distribution package comprises a first attachment member and a first set of abutment portions positioned at a first side portion, and wherein the distribution package further comprises a second attachment member and a second set of abutment portions positioned at a second side portion.
- clothes may be distributed in laying distribution on hangers and still be protected from being wrinkled or otherwise damaged.
- the length direction may relative to respective hanger be oriented along a direction in which clothes will hang vertically down from the hanger when the hanger is hung on a horizontally extending rod and wherein said length direction during distribution is horizontally arranged.
- the parcel may further comprise removable intermediate plate between the first piece of clothing and the second piece of clothing.
- the removable intermediate plate is located between a first set of clothing and a second set of clothing. In this latter design, the intermediate plate is thus not located between each individual piece of clothing but between sets or groups of clothing.
- Fig. 1 and Fig. 2 there are shown two different exploded, perspective views of a distribution package 1.
- the distribution package 1 is adapted for use in laying distribution of clothes 2 on hangers 3; see e.g. Fig. 3a and Fig. 3b .
- the hangers 3 have typically a hook portion 3a and a clothes hanging portion 3b.
- the distribution package 1 comprises a bottom wall 11 with an outside surface adapted to face downwardly during distribution (in the Figures 1 and 2 , the reference number 11 points on the inside surface of the bottom wall 11 which is intended to be facing upwardly during distribution), an opposing top wall 12 with an outside surface adapted to face upwardly during distribution, and a plurality of further walls 13a-d.
- the bottom wall 11 and the top wall 12, respectively, are in the preferred embodiment formed of two panels 11a, 11b and 12a, 12b adapted to be folded towards each other together forming the bottom 11 and top 12 walls.
- the further walls 13a-d are adapted to extend along a height direction H between the bottom wall 11 and top wall 12 and form together with the bottom wall 11 and top wall 12 an enclosure adapted to protect the clothes 2 and hangers 3 during distribution.
- the distribution package 1 comprises a first attachment member 21 positioned at a first side portion S1 of the enclosure and a second attachment member 22 positioned at a second side portion S2 of the enclosure, opposite the first side portion S1 of the enclosure.
- the first attachment member 21 is adapted to extend along the height direction H and to interact with the hook portion 3a of one or more hangers 3 in a first set of hangers.
- the first attachment member 21 is adapted to prevent movement of respective hanger 3 in the first set of hangers relative the first attachment member 21 in a direction L1 extending from the hook portion 3a towards the clothes hanging portion 3b of respective hanger 3.
- the second attachment member 22 is adapted to extend along the height direction H and to interact with the hook portion 3a of one or more hangers 3 in a second set of hangers.
- the second attachment member 22 is adapted to prevent movement of respective hanger 3 in the second set hangers relative the second attachment member 22 in a direction L2 extending from the hook portion 3a towards the clothes hanging portion 3b of respective hanger 3.
- the distribution package 1 comprises a first set of abutment portions 41a-b positioned at the first side portion S1 of the enclosure and a second set of abutment portions 42a-b positioned at the second side portion S2 of the enclosure.
- the first abutment portions 41a-b are adapted to interact with the clothes hanging portion 3b of respective hanger 3 of said first set of hangers and to prevent movement of the respective hanger 3 relative the first set of abutment portions 41a-b in a direction L1' extending from the clothes hanging portion 3b towards the hook portion 3a of respective hanger 3.
- the second set of abutment portions 42a-b are adapted to interact with the clothes hanging portion 3b of respective hanger 3 in the second set of hangers and to prevent movement of the respective hanger 3 relative the second set of abutment portions 42a-b in a direction L2' extending from the clothes hanging portion 3b towards the hook portion 3a of respective hanger 3.
- the direction L1' is parallel to the direction L2 and the direction L2' is parallel to the direction L1.
- the width W will have an extension along the major extension of the clothes hanging portion 3b of the clothes hangers 3.
- the distribution package comprise at least one removable intermediate plate 50 adapted to be positioned at a suitable height H1 or H2 or H3 (see Fig. 2 ) between the bottom wall 11 and the top wall 12 to aid in keeping the clothes 2 in place during distribution.
- the intermediate plate 50 is adapted to separate clothes 2 individually or into sets of clothes along the height direction H. It may e.g. be useful to place one hanger 3 with a jacket 2 on the first attachment member 21 and to place one hanger 3 with a jacket 2 on the second attachment member 22 (see Fig. 3a ). Thereafter an intermediate plate 50 may be positioned above the two jackets (the two jackets thereby forming a set of clothes).
- the abutment portions 41a-b. 42a-b comprise slots 43 adapted to receive tongues 53 of the intermediate plate 50 to thereby hold the intermediate plate 50 on said height H1, H2, H3. This way the intermediate plate 50 will not only separate the clothes 2 from each other but will also retain its position on the intended height H1, H2, H3.
- the top wall 12, bottom wall 11 and side walls 13a-d of the distribution package 1 are formed of paper board, preferably corrugated paper board. This is e.g. accomplished by providing a sheet (see Fig. 4 ) with the different walls 11, 12, 13a-d being formed as different portions adapted to be folded to form said enclosure.
- the solid lines indicate that the material is cut through the complete thickness of the material
- the dotted lines indicate crease or fold lines, where the material is intended to be folded.
- the crease or fold lines may be formed by a perforation or other kinds of partial cutting of the material; partial when it comes to the thickness and/or partial when it comes to the extension along the line.
- the crease of fold lines may also be formed by locally compressing the material such that it locally loses some of its bending stiffness.
- the attachment members 21, 22 are formed of paper board, preferably corrugated paper board.
- the attachment members 21, 22 are formed of a sheet (see Fig. 6 ) being folded about a plurality of fold lines 21a-d adapted to extend along the height direction H once the respective attachment member 21, 22 is installed in the distribution package 1.
- the attachment members 21, 22 extend with their main extension in parallel with the height direction H.
- the first set of abutment portions 41a-b comprise a first abutment portion 41a positioned in a width direction W, transverse to the height direction H, on one side of the first attachment member 21 and a second abutment portion 41b positioned in the width direction W on another side of the first attachment member 21. This way it is prevented that the hanger 3 swings from side to side and thereby any clothes 2 are more securely kept in place in the distribution package 1.
- the second set of abutment portions 42a-b comprise a first abutment portion 42a positioned in the width direction W on one side of the second attachment member 22 and a second abutment portion 42b positioned in the width direction W on another side of the second attachment member 22.
- the first and second abutment portions 41a-b, 42a-b comprise abutment surfaces extending in a plane which plane on one hand extends in the height direction H and on the other hand is inclined such that it extends away from its associated attachment member in an inclined direction having in a width direction W, transverse to the height direction H, a component away from its associated attachment member and in a length direction L1, transverse to both the height H and width W direction, a component towards the other attachment member.
- this inclined extension is accomplished by a plane surface extending in the height direction H and forming a triangle with respective corner of the distribution package 1.
- Such a design will essentially follow the typical triangular or pointy shape of a clothes hanger for jackets and shirts. This way the abutment portions will present an abutment surface towards the hanger and the clothes on the hanger even if the hanger and clothes will move slightly along the height direction.
- the abutment portions 41a-b, 42a-b are formed of paper board, preferably corrugated paper board. This is e.g. accomplished by providing a sheet (see Fig. 5 ) with different portions being adapted to be folded to form a triangular prismatic body.
- the sheets forming the abutment portions 41a-b, 42a-b are provided with the above mentioned slots 43 adapted to receive the tongues of the intermediate plates 50.
- the sheets forming the abutment portions 41a-b, 42a-b are provided with tongues 44 adapted to be received in slots 14 in the sheet forming the top 12, bottom 11 and side 13a-d walls (see Fig. 4 ).
- a rectangular portion 15 of the sheet in Fig. 4 is cut along three sides (solid lines) and foldable about a fourth side (dashed line).
- This rectangular portion 15 forms a flap 15 which provides access to the attachment member 21 such that the hook portion 3a of the hangers 3 may be put into position but a movement counter the height direction H.
- the sheet of Fig. 4 is also provided with a slot 16 extending as a continuation of the cut around the portion 15. This slot 16 allows the stem portion 3c of the hanger 3 to be moved downwardly such that the hanger 3 and clothes 2 are positioned at the desired height H.
- the flap 15 is in an open position at the first side portion S1 and in a closed position at the second side portion S2.
- the flaps 15 are for clarity reason removed. Once the hangers 3 are put in position, the flap 15 is closed.
- the distribution package 1 also comprises a top plate 60 (see Fig. 8 ).
- the top plate 60 is adapted to be positioned a top of the stack of clothes before the top wall 12 is formed by closing the two flaps together.
- the top plate 60 is similarly as for the intermediate plate 50 provided with tongues 63 adapted to be inserted into slots on the side walls or in the abutment portions.
- a distribution parcel for laying distribution of clothes 2 on hangers 3, the hangers 3 having a hook portion 3a and a clothes hanging portion 3b.
- the distribution parcel comprises a first piece of clothing 2, a second piece of clothing 2', and a distribution package 1 with a first attachment member 21 and a second attachment member 22, wherein the first piece of clothing 2 is arranged on a first hanger 3 being attached to the first attachment member 21 and extends in a length direction L1 from said hanger 3 towards the second attachment member 22, and the second piece of clothing 2' is arranged on a second hanger 3 being attached to the second attachment member 22 and extends from said hanger 3 in a length direction L2 towards the first attachment member 21.
- the length direction L1, L2 is relative to respective hanger 3 oriented along a direction in which clothes 2, 2' will hang vertically down from the hanger 3 when the hanger is hung on a horizontally extending rod and wherein said length direction L1, 12 during distribution is horizontally arranged.
- the removable intermediate plate 50 has been removed from Fig. 3b .
- the removable intermediate plate 50 is preferably present between the first piece of clothing 2 and the second piece of clothing 2' or between a first set of clothing and a second set of clothing.
- the first and/or second abutment portions may comprise abutment surfaces extending in a plane extending away from its associated attachment member in a width direction transverse to the height direction and transverse to a length direction. This may e.g. be suitable for hangers design for trousers or skirts.
In one embodiment both the first and second abutment portions have the transverse extension.
- the transverse extension may e.g. be accomplished by simply removing the triangular prismatic elements in Fig. 1 and Fig 2 , at one or both side portions S1, S2.
- the intermediate plate 50 will be designed as the top plate 60 at the side portion S1, S2 where there is no triangular prismatic element.
- the top plate 60 may be used as intermediate plates.
- the tongues 63 of the plates 60 will in such a place be inserted into the slots 14, 14' formed on the panels 13c' and 13a' forming inside surfaces of the side walls 13c and 13a.
- the triangular prismatic elements may be replaced with rectangular prismatic elements provided with slots.
- the elements need not physically have all the side surfaces. It is sufficient that the surface forming the abutment portions is present to form the abutment portion. Preferably, the surfaces forming the abutment portions are fully present. The other surfaces may be completely or partially missing.
- first and/or second abutment portions may as such also be combinations of inclined and transverse extensions, such that a central portion close to the attachment member e.g. is transverse and distal portions on either side are inclined, or vice versa.
