Description
- The invention relates to a column shoe as defined in the preamble of
independent claim 1 wherein the column shoe comprising a bolt housing comprising a base plate having a bolt hole and comprising an upper structure, and a securing means for securing to the bolt housing an attachment unit such as a main bond for securing the column shoe and a building element of concrete such as a concrete column together. - The invention relates to column shoes which are used in lower ends of building elements of concrete, preferably precast building elements of concrete, such as in lower end corners of concrete columns or corresponding concrete element columns and/or in lower end edges of concrete columns or corresponding concrete element columns for securing the building element to bolts projecting from a base structure. A column shoe according to the invention may however also be used for securing wall elements of concrete to bolts projecting from a base structure. A column shoe according to the invention may however also be used for securing walls of concrete and beams of concrete and slabs of concrete to bolts projecting from a base structure.
- Publication
WO 2012/056100 presents a column shoe for securing steel concrete columns to a base. The column shoe comprises a bolt housing, which comprises a base plate provided with a bolt hole, and a side plate, and attachment units fixedly connected to the bolt housing for securing the column shoe and the steel concrete column together. - Publication
US2005/0102924A1 discloses a column shoe comprising the features according to the preamble ofclaim 1. - The object of the invention is to provide a column shoe that allows the end user of the column shoe to select and/or to choose for example the size or the type of the attachment unit to used and correspondingly to be fastened to the column shoe.
- The column shoe of the invention is characterized by the definitions of
independent claim 1. - Preferred embodiments of the column shoe are defined in the dependent claims.
- In the column shoe, the securing means for securing to the bolt housing an attachment unit is configured for securing the attachment unit to the bolt housing by pressing the attachment unit between the upper structure of the bolt housing and the securing means.
- Because the attachment unit is secured to the bolt housing by pressing the attachment unit between the upper structure of the bolt housing and the securing means, securing of the attachment unit to the bolt housing can be made by the end user. Additionally, this allows the end user of the column shoe to select and/or to choose for example the size or the type of the attachment unit to used and correspondingly to be fastened to the column shoe.

Figures 1 to 20 show examples of column shoes (not marked with a reference numeral) for securing building elements ofconcrete 1 such as concrete columns to abase 2 such as to a foundation of a building or to a corresponding load-bearing structural element. - The building element of
concrete 1 is preferably in the form of a precast building element of concrete such as a precast concrete column, which means that the building element of concrete is manufactured at a site different from the construction site where the building element is used in a building. The building element ofconcrete 1 can also be in the form of a wall element of concrete, a precast wall element of concrete, a beam of concrete, a precast beam of concrete, a slab of concrete, or a precast slab of concrete. - The column shoe comprises a bolt housing 3 comprising a
base plate 4 having abolt hole 5 for ananchor bolt 6, which is party provided in thebase 2 so that theanchor bolt 6 projects from thebase 2. The bolt housing 3 comprises also anupper structure 7 connected to thebase plate 4. The bolt housing 3 may be a casted one-piece structure or a structure formed by welding together many sub-structures such as abase plate 4 and anupper structure 7. Theanchor bolt 6 may be provided with threads (not marked with a reference numeral) fornuts 8 in order to secure the bolt housing 3 of the column shoe to thebase 2. - The column shoe comprises additionally a
securing means 9 for securing to the bolt housing 3 anattachment unit 10 such as a main bond for securing the column shoe and a building element ofconcrete 1 such as a concrete column together by casting theattachment unit 10 into a building element ofconcrete 1 such as into a concrete column. Also a portion of the bolt housing 3, especially a portion of theupper structure 7 of the bolt housing 3, is usually also at the same time casted into the building element ofconcrete 1 such as into the concrete column. - The securing means 9 for securing to the bolt housing 3 an
attachment unit 10 are configured for securing theattachment unit 10 to the bolt housing 3 by pressing theattachment unit 10 between theupper structure 7 of the bolt housing 3 and the securing means 9. - Some embodiments of the column shoe, such as the embodiments of the column shoe shown in
figures 1 to 16 , comprises asecuring means 9 in the form of aseparate fastening part 11. - In an embodiment of the column shoe, such as in the first embodiment of the column shoe shown in
figures 1 to 4 , separate fastening means 12 such as rivets for fastening the securing means 9 in the form of aseparate fastening part 11 to theupper structure 7 of the bolt housing 3 are provided so that anattachment unit 10 placed between theupper structure 7 of the bolt housing 3 and a securing means 9 in the form of aseparate fastening part 11 is pressed between theupper structure 7 of the bolt housing 3 and the securing means 9 in the form of aseparate fastening part 11. In such embodiment, such as in the first embodiment of the column shoe shown infigures 1 to 4 , theupper structure 7 of the bolt housing 3 may be provided with at least one first throughhole 13 for cooperation with at least one separate fastening means 12. A such first throughhole 13 in theupper structure 7 of the bolt housing 3 may extend in a direction transverse to the direction of thebolt hole 5 in thebase plate 4 of the bolt housing 3 as shown infigures 1 to 4 . In such embodiment, such as in the first embodiment of the column shoe shown infigures 1 to 4 , the securing means 9 in the form of aseparate fastening part 11 may be provided with at least one second throughhole 14 for cooperation with at least one separate fastening means 12. - In another embodiment of the column shoe, such as in the second embodiment of the column shoe shown in
figures 5 to 8 and in the third embodiment of the column shoe shown infigures 9 to 12 , separate tightening means 15 such as screws or bolts or the like for tightening thesecuring means 9 in the form of aseparate fastening part 11 towards/against theupper structure 7 of the bolt housing 3 are provided so that anattachment unit 10 placed between theupper structure 7 of the bolt housing 3 and the securing means 9 in the form of aseparate fastening part 11 is pressed between theupper structure 7 of the bolt housing 3 and the securing means 9 in the form of aseparate fastening part 11. In such another embodiment, such as in the second embodiment of the column shoe shown infigures 5 to 8 , theupper structure 7 of the bolt housing 3 may be provided with at least one first throughhole 13 for cooperation with at least one separate tightening means 15. A such first throughhole 13 in theupper structure 7 of the bolt housing 3 may extend in a direction transverse to the direction of thebolt hole 5 in thebase plate 4 of the bolt housing 3 as shown infigures 5 to 8 . In such embodiment, such as in the second embodiment of the column shoe shown infigures 5 to 8 , the securing means 9 in the form of aseparate fastening part 11 may be provided with at least one second throughhole 14 for cooperation with at least one separate tightening means 15. - In yet another embodiment, such as in the third embodiment of the column shoe shown in
figures 9 to 12 , theupper structure 7 of the bolt housing 3 may be provided with at least one firstblind hole 20 for cooperation with at least one separate tightening means 15. A such firstblind hole 20 in theupper structure 7 of the bolt housing 3 may be provided with threads for cooperation with the separate tightening means 15 such as screws or bolts or the like as is the case in the third embodiment of the column shoe shown infigures 9 to 12 . A such firstblind hole 20 in theupper structure 7 of the bolt housing 3 may extend in a direction transverse to the direction of thebolt hole 5 in thebase plate 4 of the bolt housing 3 as shown infigures 5 to 8 . In such another embodiment, such as in the third embodiment of the column shoe shown infigures 9 to 12 , the securing means 9 in the form of aseparate fastening part 11 may be provided with at least one second throughhole 14 for cooperation with at least one separate tightening means 15. - In an alternative third embodiment of the column shoe shown, the securing means 9 in the form of a
separate fastening part 11 may be alternatively provided with at least one second blind hole (not shown) for cooperation with at least oneseparate tightening means 15 and theupper structure 7 of the bolt housing 3 may be provided with at least one first throughhole 13 for cooperation with at least one separate tightening means 15. A such second blind hole in the securing means 9 in the form of aseparate fastening part 11 may be provided with threads for cooperation with the separate tightening means 15 such as screws or bolts or the like. - In yet another embodiment of the column shoe, such as in the fourth embodiment of the column shoe shown in
figures 13 to 16 , securing means 9 in the form of aseparate fastening part 11 provided with integrated tightening means 16 are provided for tightening at least a part of the securing means 9 in the form of aseparate fastening part 11 towards theupper structure 7 of the bolt housing 3 so that anattachment unit 10 placed between theupper structure 7 of the bolt housing 3 and said at least a part of the securing means 9 in the form of aseparate fastening part 11 is pressed between theupper structure 7 of the bolt housing 3 and said at least a part of the securing means 9 in the form of aseparate fastening part 11. In such yet another embodiment, such as in the fourth embodiment of the column shoe shown infigures 13 to 16 , theupper structure 7 of the bolt housing 3 may be provided with at least one first throughhole 13 for cooperation with at least one integrated fastening means of the securing means 9. A such first throughhole 13 in theupper structure 7 of the bolt housing 3 may extend in a direction transverse to the direction of thebolt hole 5 in thebase plate 4 of the bolt housing 3 such as in the fourth embodiment of the column shoe shown infigures 13 to 16 . - At least one of the
upper structure 7 of the bolt housing 3 and the securing means 9 in the form of aseparate fastening part 11 being provided with aseat 19 for guiding anattachment unit 10 into a predetermined position and/or for keeping anattachment unit 10 in a predetermined position with respect to the bolt housing 3 as is shown in the figures. - A
such seat 19 may, as is shown infigures 1 to 16 , be configured for guiding anattachment unit 10 in the form of a steel bar into such predetermined position and/or for keeping anattachment unit 10 in the form of a steel bar in such predetermined position where theattachment unit 10 in the form of a steel bar is at least partly coaxial with thebolt hole 5 in the base plate.Such seat 19 may, as is shown infigures 1 to 16 , be in the form of a groove being half circular or semicircular in cross-section. - At least one of the bolt housing 3 and the securing means 9 in the form of a
separate fastening part 11 may be provided with depressions and/or projections (not shown in the figures) pressing against theattachment unit 10. - In still another embodiment of the column shoe, such as in the fifth embodiment of the column shoe shown in
figures 17 to 20 , not forming part of the cliamed subject-matter, theupper structure 7 of the bolt housing 3 is provided with athird hole 17 for receiving anattachment unit 10. In such still another embodiment of the column shoe, a securing means 9 in the form of a screw or a bolt or the like that is arranged in a threaded hole terminating into thethird hole 17 in theupper structure 7 of the bolt housing 3 so that anattachment unit 10 received in thethird hole 17 can be pressed against an inner surface of thethird hole 17 in theupper structure 7 of the bolt housing 3 by means of the screw or the bolt or the like. Suchthird hole 17 in theupper structure 7 of the bolt housing 3 being a blind hole i.e. a hole having a bottom or a through hole i.e. a hole without a bottom. In such still another embodiment of the column shoe, a central axis of thethird hole 17 in theupper structure 7 of the bolt housing 3 and a central axis of thebolt hole 5 in thebase plate 4 may be parallel. In such still another embodiment of the column shoe, such as in the fifth embodiment of the column shoe shown infigures 17 to 20 , the hole in theupper structure 7 of the bolt housing 3 and thebolt hole 5 in thebase plate 4 may be concentric. In such still another embodiment of the column shoe, such as in the fifth embodiment of the column shoe shown infigures 17 to 20 , the hole in theupper structure 7 of the bolt housing 3 extending in a direction transverse to the direction of the threaded hole terminating into the hole in theupper structure 7 of the bolt housing 3. - It is apparent to a person skilled in the art that as technology advances, the basic idea of the invention can be implemented in various ways. The invention and its embodiments are therefore not restricted to the above examples, but they may vary within the scope of the claims.
Claims (6)
- Column shoe for securing building elements of concrete (1) such as concrete columns to a base (2), wherein the column shoe comprising
a bolt housing (3) comprising a base plate (4) having a bolt hole (5) for an anchor bolt (6) projecting from the base (2) and comprising an upper structure (7), and
a securing means (9) for securing to the bolt housing (3) an attachment unit (10) such as a main bond for securing the column shoe and a building element of concrete (1) together,
wherein the securing means (9) is in the form of a separate fastening part (11),
characterized in that
the securing means (9) for securing to the bolt housing (3) an attachment unit (10) is configured for securing the attachment unit (10) to the bolt housing (3) by pressing the attachment unit (10) between the upper structure (7) of the bolt housing (3) and the securing means (9), and in that at least one of the upper structure (7) of the bolt housing (3) and the securing means (9) in the form of a separate fastening part (11) is provided with a seat (19) for guiding an attachment unit (10) into a predetermined position and/or for keeping an attachment unit (10) in a predetermined position with respect to the bolt housing (3), wherein the seat (19) is configured for guiding an attachment unit (10) in the form of a steel bar into such predetermined position and/or for keeping an attachment unit (10) in the form of a steel bar in such predetermined position where the attachment unit (10) in the form of a steel bar is at least partly coaxial with the bolt hole (5) in the base plate (4). - The column shoe according to claim 1, characterized
by separate fastening means (12) such as rivets for fastening the securing means (9) in the form of a separate fastening part (11) to the upper structure (7) of the bolt housing (3) so that the attachment unit (10) placed between the upper structure (7) of the bolt housing (3) and the securing means (9) in the form of a separate fastening part (11) is pressed between the upper structure (7) of the bolt housing (3) and the securing means (9) in the form of a separate fastening part (11). - The column shoe according to claim 1 or 2, characterized
by separate tightening means (15) such as screws or bolts or the like for tightening the securing means (9) in the form of a separate fastening part (11) towards/against the upper structure (7) of the bolt housing (3) so that an attachment unit (10) placed between the upper structure (7) of the bolt housing (3) and the securing means (9) in the form of a separate fastening part (11) is pressed between the upper structure (7) of the bolt housing (3) and the securing means (9) in the form of a separate fastening part (11). - The column shoe according to any of the claims 1 to 3, characterized
by the securing means (9) in the form of a separate fastening part (11) being provided with integrated tightening means (16) for tightening at least a part of the securing means (9) in the form of a separate fastening part (11) towards the upper structure (7) of the bolt housing (3) so that an attachment unit (10) placed between the upper structure (7) of the bolt housing (3) and said at least a part of the securing means (9) in the form of a separate fastening part (11) provided with integrated tightening means (16) is pressable between the upper structure (7) of the bolt housing (3) and said at least a part of the securing means (9) in the form of a separate fastening part (11) provided with integrated tightening means (16). - The column shoe according to any of the claims 1 to 4, characterized by the seat (19) being in the form of a groove being half circular or semicircular in cross-section.
- The column shoe according to any of the claims 1 to 5, characterized by at least one of the bolt housing (3) and the securing means (9) in the form of a separate fastening part (11) being provided with depressions and/or projections pressing against the attachment unit (10).
