Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a fluid dispensing head, preferably viscous or pasty, intended to be mounted on or associated with a fluid reservoir of variable volume movable wall.
  • the reservoir may for example be constituted by a flexible wall tube on which the user can exert a pressure so as to crush the tube.
  • the combination of this type of reservoir with a dispensing head according to the invention constitutes a fluid dispenser, which is also the subject of the present invention.
  • a dispensing head, or such a dispenser of fluid product can find a preferred application in the field of cosmetics, pharmacy, or food.
  • the purpose of the dispensing head is to provide a tight seal of the fluid reservoir, so that the fluid stored inside the reservoir does not come into contact with the outside air or with any contaminating element located in the reservoir. outside the container.
  • the dispensing head comprises a dispensing orifice at which the user can recover the dispensed fluid product.
  • the head also comprises a sealing member, for example in the form of a needle, which closes the dispensing orifice when the fluid product in the head is at a pressure below a predetermined threshold and clears the orifice when the fluid product present in the head is at a pressure greater than this predetermined threshold.
  • the sealing needle is therefore directly controlled by the pressure exerted by the fluid product pressurized in the head by actuation of the displaceable wall of the fluid reservoir.
  • the dispensing head also comprises elastic means for urging the shutter needle against the dispensing orifice. The seal is all the more perfect as the elastic means exert a strong stress on the needle in sealing contact with the dispensing orifice.
  • the dispensing head also comprises a fluid product inlet in communication with the reservoir.
  • the pressure of the fluid inside the dispensing head must overcome the force exerted by the elastic means to disengage the needle from the dispensing orifice. .
  • This minimum pressure for the clearance of the needle corresponds to the predetermined threshold.
  • the pressure exerted by the fluid product inside the tank and the head is the same, but varies according to the force exerted by the user on the displaceable wall of the tank.
  • the pressure forces exerted on the internal walls of the dispensing head vary according to the surface on which this pressure is exerted, since a pressure force is directly proportional to the surface on which this pressure is exerted. .
  • a well-known problem of distribution heads mounted on crushable tanks is that the reservoir must be strongly depressed to disengage the sealing needle from the dispensing orifice. It follows that the fluid product is then distributed very quickly and often uncontrollably. And even by pressing very gradually on the reservoir, the opening of the dispensing orifice is still sudden, and the fluid dispensed then tends to be sprayed or even pulverized, which is not the purpose sought when we distribute cream or pasty product. On the contrary, it is necessary that the dispensed product is in the form of a hazelnut or a cord.
  • the document DE 4329808 A1 base for the preamble of claim 1 proposes a dispensing head with a flexible membrane which is successively subjected to the pressure forces of the channeled fluid product, in the storage position, towards the lower face of the membrane and, in dispensing position, towards the upper face of the membrane.
  • the purpose of the present invention is to accumulate as much as possible these two seemingly incompatible requirements.
  • the dispensing head of the present invention must both provide a perfectly sealed closure of the dispensing orifice and a pleasant and controlled distribution of the fluid product.
  • the head further comprises a differential flexible membrane defining a lower face facing the inlet and an upper face facing the dispensing orifice, as well as at least one passage connecting the two faces.
  • the lower and upper faces respectively defining lower and upper surfaces simultaneously subjected to opposite pressure forces exerted by the pressurized fluid on both sides of the membrane, the lower surface being substantially smaller than the upper surface, the needle or closure member being formed by the flexible membrane.
  • the flexible membrane is said to be differential because it is subjected simultaneously on these two faces to the pressure exerted by the fluid product. Its displacement inside the head is therefore directly dependent on the surfaces on which the pressure of the fluid product is exerted on each side of the membrane, since the pressure is identical on both sides of the membrane.
  • the surface difference subjected to the pressure makes it possible to create a differential or multiplier effect, which is used here to overcome the forces exerted by the elastic means.
  • the ratio of the upper surface to the lower surface is greater than 3, advantageously 4.
  • the force exerted on the upper surface will be 3 to 4 times greater than that exerted on the lower surface.
  • this gives him the impression of only pressing gently or moderately on the reservoir to obtain the distribution of the fluid product.
  • This makes it possible to use powerful elastic means to urge the needle against the orifice, and thus to ensure a perfect seal.
  • These elastic means will be easily overcome by the force resulting from the pressure exerted on the upper surface, due to the reduction effect of 3 to 4.
  • the flexible membrane thus fulfills a true force-reduction function, which allows both to have powerful elastic means and an easy and controlled distribution.
  • the dispensing head defines a fluid product chamber on each side of the flexible membrane, namely an inlet chamber defined between the inlet and the membrane and an outlet chamber defined between the membrane and the dispensing orifice, the two chambers communicating through at least one through hole, so that both chambers are simultaneously subjected to the same pressure.
  • the surfaces on which the pressure acts is not identical on both sides of the membrane, it will move inside the head so as to clear the dispensing orifice.
  • the dispensing head comprises a base forming the inlet, a cap forming the dispensing orifice and a flexible part forming the membrane, the flexible part being arranged between the base and the cap. by defining seals.
  • the base and the cap are rigid.
  • the base can form elastic means, advantageously in the form of flexible oblique lugs, to urge the closure member or needle against the orifice.
  • the flexible piece can form elastic means for urging the closure member or needle against the orifice, these elastic means connecting the membrane to the base.
  • the dispensing head may further comprise a spring acting between the base and the membrane to urge the closure member or needle against the orifice.
  • the elastic means can come from different places, namely the base, the flexible part or a spring reported.
  • the flexible membrane inherently incorporates elastic means from its reversible deformability.
  • the flexible part may form the flexible membrane provided with several through holes arranged around the needle (closure member), a sealing ring which surrounds the flexible membrane and is in sealing engagement with the cap , and a sleeve connecting the membrane to the base, the sleeve being axially deformable to allow the flexible membrane to move relative to the base, the sleeve forming a sealed anchoring heel in sealing engagement with the base, the sleeve extending around the entrance.
  • the inlet chamber is defined between the base and the flexible part
  • the outlet chamber is defined between the membrane and the cap.
  • the base is received by snapping into the cap. The flexible piece is thus wedged tightly between the base and the cap.
  • the present invention also defines a fluid dispenser comprising a fluid reservoir of variable volume movable wall on which is mounted a dispensing head as defined above.
  • the principle of the invention is to use a differential flexible membrane inside a dispensing head acting as a sealed shutter for a fluid reservoir.
  • the differential characteristic of the flexible membrane is used here to create a multiplier effect to overcome powerful elastic means while providing a pleasant and controlled operation.
  • FIG. 1 we will first refer to figures 1 and 2 to describe in detail the structure of a fluid dispenser incorporating a dispensing head according to the invention.
  • the dispensing head is intended to be associated with or mounted on a fluid reservoir R of variable capacity.
  • the tank R comprises a movable wall P on which the user can act by exerting a pressure force.
  • the displaceable wall P can be rigid or flexible on the contrary: in both cases, its displacement causes a reduction in the useful volume of the reservoir R.
  • the reservoir is a flexible tube with an N-neck. The user to grasp the tube and press on its flexible wall P so as to crush it.
  • This type of reservoir is often referred to in the field of cosmetics as the "squeeze bottle”.
  • a reservoir comprising a sliding barrel in which is mounted a scraper piston on which the user can press to move it inside the barrel.
  • the distribution head of the figures 1 and 2 comprises three essential components, namely a cap 1, a flexible part 2 and a 3.
  • these elements can be made by injection molding plastic material appropriate. They all have a symmetry of revolution more or less perfect around the axis X.
  • the cap 1, or even the base 3, may be made of metal, ceramic, composite material, etc.
  • the cap 1 and the base 3 are substantially rigid, while the flexible part 2 is by definition elastically deformable.
  • the flexible part 2 may advantageously be made by bi-injection.
  • the cap 1 associated with the base 3 together form a kind of housing in which is housed the flexible part 2, as will be seen below.
  • the flexible part 2 defines seals both with the cap 1 and the base 3, as will be seen below.
  • the cap 1 is in the form of a cover comprising a substantially flat, disc-shaped upper wall 11 in the center of which is formed a distribution orifice 12, which is here placed on the X axis.
  • the upper wall 11 is provided on its lower face with a lip 14 of annular shape projecting axially downwards.
  • the upper wall 11 is extended by a substantially cylindrical skirt 13 which defines near its lower end an inner annular housing 16 whose function will be given below.
  • the cap 1 defines between the skirt 13 and the lip 14 an annular housing 15 whose function will be given below.
  • the cap 1 here has a circular cross section, but one can also imagine another shape in section for the cap 1.
  • the flexible part 2 is in a way the engine of the dispensing head, since it defines the dynamic part of the head.
  • the flexible part 2 first defines a flexible diaphragm 21 in the form of a disc.
  • the membrane 21 defines an upper face 2s and a lower face 2i.
  • a passage is defined to communicate the two faces 2s, 2i of the membrane.
  • This passage can be in the form of several holes passage 23 which pass through the membrane and which are here arranged in a circle around the axis X.
  • the membrane 21 defines a closure member in the form of a shutter needle waterproof 22 which protrudes upwards.
  • the needle 22 is located on the upper face 2s.
  • the through holes 23 make it possible to directly communicate from the upper face 2s to the lower face 2i.
  • the upper face 2s is substantially or perfectly flat, only interrupted at the through holes 23 and the sealing needle 22.
  • the lower face 2i is stepped here defining a thinned portion at its outer periphery.
  • the through holes 23 and the needle 22 are defined at its thick part.
  • the membrane 21 is more easily deformable at its outer portion.
  • Its thick internal part is also deformable, but in a restricted way.
  • the thinned peripheral portion will thus fulfill a role of elastic means for bringing the membrane back to its rest state.
  • the flexible part 2 also defines a sleeve 26 which extends downwards from the lower face 2i.
  • the sleeve extends around the axis X.
  • This sleeve 26 defines a bellows segment 27 for axially contracting the sleeve 26.
  • the sleeve 26 forms a waterproof anchoring heel 28, as will be seen below.
  • the flexible membrane 21 is connected to a sealing ring 25 defining an axial annular groove 24.
  • the ring is made with an increased wall thickness, in order to give it a certain hold.
  • the flexible part 2 may advantageously be welded to the cap 1 at the lip 14 to ensure sealing with the outside.
  • the base 3 comprises a fixing ring 31 intended to engage the neck N of the reservoir R.
  • the ring 31 is threaded internally so as to be screwed onto the threaded neck N of the reservoir .
  • the base 3 can also be fixed by snapping on the neck of the tank.
  • the ring 31 defines a fluid product inlet 32 for the dispensing head.
  • the base 3 defines around the ring 31 a sealing receiving groove 33 for receiving the anchoring heel 28 of the sleeve 26 of the flexible part 2.
  • the base 3 further defines an annular plate 34 which extends radially outwards and which is intended for example to come into contact with the reservoir R.
  • This plate 34 is provided with several inclined resilient tabs 35 which extend obliquely towards the X axis from the plate 34. To allow the molding of these tabs 35, the plate 34 is pierced with spindle passing windows 36. The free upper ends of the resilient tabs 35 are intended to come into contact with the lower face 2i of the membrane 21. Finally, the base 3 defines on its outer periphery a sleeve 37 provided with a ratchet bead 38 which protrudes radially outwards.
  • the flexible part 2 is engaged inside the cap 1 so that the lip 14 enters the inside the annular groove 24 formed by the ring 25 of the flexible part 2.
  • the ring 25 is then engaged inside the housing 15. It is thus defined an annular space between the upper wall 11 of the cap 1 and the face upper 2s of the membrane 21. This space is an upper chamber Cs for the fluid product, as will be seen below.
  • This upper chamber Cs is not defined by the whole of the upper face 2s, but only by a part of this upper face which is described here as the upper surface Ss
  • the upper surface Ss can be defined as the upper face 2s of the diaphragm 21 less the accumulated section of the through holes 23 and the section of the sealing needle 22.
  • This upper chamber Cs is extremely thin axially, but has a considerable radial extent. Indeed, the upper surface Ss is substantially equal to the upper face 2s, since the cumulative section of the through holes 23 and the needle 22 is negligible.
  • This upper chamber Cs communicates with a lower chamber Ci through the through-holes 23.
  • the lower chamber Ci is defined between the lower face 2i of the membrane 21, the sleeve 26 and the ring 31 of the base 3.
  • the chamber Ci present here a general shape of spilled bucket. It can be seen that the fluid product inlet 32 communicates directly with the through holes 23 through the lower chamber Ci.
  • the sealed anchoring heel 28 of the sleeve 26 is engaged in a fixed and sealed manner inside the groove 33 of the base 3.
  • the inclined flexible tabs 35 bear with their free upper ends against the lower face 2i of the membrane 21.
  • the sleeve 37 it is engaged inside the skirt 13. More specifically, the snap-fitting bead 38 of the sleeve 37 is housed permanently inside the groove 16 of the skirt 13. The upper end of the sleeve 37 pushes the fixing ring 25 against the lip 14 and in the housing 15.
  • Two seals are thus created, a first between the ring 25 and the cap 1 and a second between the heel 28 and the base 3, so as to isolate the upper chambers Cs and lower Ci from the outside, at the inlet 32.
  • the anchoring heel 28 of the sleeve 26 can be welded on the groove 33 of the base 3 in order to seal the seal with the outside.
  • the pressurized fluid product from the tank R When the pressurized fluid product from the tank R reaches the dispensing head, it fills the lower chambers Ci and Cs, which communicate easily with each other through the through-holes 23.
  • the pressure s' exerts on a part of the lower face 2i of the membrane 21 which has been described here as the lower surface Si.
  • the pressure is exerted on a part of the upper face 2s of the membrane 21 which has been described here as an upper surface Ss.It can easily be observed that the lower surface Si is very much smaller than the upper surface Ss.
  • the surface ratio Ss / Si is of the order of 3 to 4 for the embodiment shown in the figures.
  • the flexible membrane 22 moves relative to the cap 1 and to the base 3 so as to disengage the sealing needle 22 from the dispensing orifice 12. In other words, the membrane 22 moves towards the ring 31 away from the upper wall 11.
  • the displacement of the membrane 22 is only generated by the pressure of the fluid product, so that one can qualify this differential membrane, since it reacts to the difference in pressure forces exerted simultaneously on these two faces.
  • the volume of the upper chamber Cs will increase while the volume of the chamber Ci will decrease as the pressure increases.
  • the flexible membrane 21 is biased elastically towards the upper wall 11 of the cap 1 by the elastic means, it is necessary that the pressure inside the chambers reaches a predetermined pressure threshold to overcome the elastic means.
  • These elastic means result from the accumulation of several particular means, namely the own elasticity of the membrane 21, the elasticity provided by the bellows segment 27 of the sleeve 26 and the elasticity of the oblique flexible tabs 5 of the base 1.
  • the differential flexible membrane 21 of the present invention allows to implement powerful elastic means, without having to very strongly press on the flexible wall P of the reservoir R. Indeed, because of the multiplier effect created by the differential pressure surfaces, a reasonable manual force is sufficient to move the membrane 21.
  • the gear ratio is of the order of 3 to 4, so that an average pressure exerted on the tank is sufficient to overcome elastic means having a considerable stiffness. In this way, we combine both a perfectly tight sealing at rest and a pleasant and controlled handling during distribution.
  • Figures 4 and 5 represent a second embodiment, which is in fact an alternative embodiment of the dispensing head of the Figures 1 to 3b .
  • the cap 1 and the flexible part 2 may be identical or similar to those of the first embodiment.
  • the base 3 differs from that of the first embodiment only in the absence of inclined resilient tabs 35.
  • These have been replaced by a conventional coil spring 4 which acts between the base 3 and the flexible part 2.
  • the spring 4 is disposed around the groove 33 and around the sleeve 26 while bearing on the lower face 2i of the flexible membrane 21.
  • the multiplier properties of a differential flexible membrane are used to overcome the stiffness of powerful elastic means for very effectively sealing a dispensing orifice, without having to excessively crush the fluid reservoir.
