Procédé de fonctionnement d'un appareil ménager (1) sous forme d'un lave-vaisselle, d'un sèche-linge, d'un lave-linge ou d'un lave-linge séchant, comprenant un réservoir (4, 11, 18, 22, 24) qui, pendant le fonctionnement de l'appareil ménager, est exposé à de l'humidité et présente une surface intérieure (29) à nettoyer d'un biofilm, et comprenant un générateur de plasma (3) à l'aide duquel, dans le procédé, un plasma froid à pression atmosphérique, c'est-à-dire un plasma non thermique généré à la pression atmosphérique avec une température de gaz inférieure à 100°C, est généré, caractérisé en ce que le générateur de plasma (3) est disposé avec un écart de moins de 5 cm de la surface intérieure (29), à nettoyer du biofilm, du réservoir (4, 11, 18, 22, 24), et en ce que le plasmas froid à pression atmosphérique généré par le générateur de plasma (3) agit de manière biocide sur la surface intérieure, à nettoyer du biofilm, du réservoir (4, 11, 18, 22, 24), la génération du plasma et l'effet sur la surface intérieure ayant lieu pendant que l'air entourant la surface est au repos.
  14. Procédé selon la revendication 13, caractérisé en ce que la génération de plasma est réalisée lorsque qu'aucun liquide aqueux est introduit dans le réservoir (4, 11, 18, 22, 24).
  15. Procédé selon la revendication 13 ou 14, caractérisé en ce que la génération de plasma est réalisée lorsque l'appareil ménager (1) est mis hors service.
