Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a book cover feeder for feeding book covers to a production unit of a book production line according to the preamble of
Known book production lines intermittently add a book block and a book cover to a book. The book cover refers in a general sense to that part of the book that fits around the book block and protects it, regardless of the construction as a cover tape or tape with attached lids.
A so-called cover is usually made of two fixed lids made of cardboard, which are held together by a Bezugsnutzen. On this utility material with a little distance to the cardboard on each side a so-called Schrenz attached as a back insert. The cover material is mostly paper, but can also consist of other materials such as linen or leather. Between the three parts, i. The two lids and the Schrenz is thus formed a kind of hinge for the finished book.
Initially, the book blocks and book covers are usually made in separate machines. In known book production lines the book block goes through at the beginning separately from the associated book cover processing stations such as rounds, pressing, Rückenbeleimen, funds, etc. The so-called wedding of book block and book cover then takes place in the Einhängemaschine, the Einhängemaschine is understood as a production unit of the book production line.

Known book cover magazines represent continuations of a respective magazine shaft. The stocking of the book covers to be processed is increased by such a book cover magazine. The book covers are preferably scaled on the book cover magazine placed. For correct positioning of the book covers, the book cover magazine is provided with guides at the front, at the back and at the sides on the right and left. Of this, lateral boundary parts of a book cover band align the book covers centrally to the Schrenz. For this purpose, a right rear guide of the magazine shaft is mechanically connected to a rear side guide of the ceiling tape magazine. The adjustment of this side guide or this lateral ceiling stop is done jointly by means of an adjustment motor. A level control in the magazine shaft controls the drive motor of the feed belt and ensures automatic filling of the magazine shaft with book covers.
In known book production lines it is assumed that the books are processed as a medium or large edition. As a result, just as many book covers are available for a series of several book blocks. It is not necessary to pay attention to an order because one book is composed of one edition, just like the other.
In the production of personalized books, such as photo books, both the book block and the book cover is unique. When producing personalized books or small and very small print runs in general, a clear identification of the book cover and the book block is a crucial criterion. For smooth operation in the machine either the book cover or the book block must take over a control function. One part therefore specifies to the book production line which other part is to be married to the one part.
This results in the task, a targeted and flexible integration of one of the parts of the book of a small or very small edition in a book production line and to allow the most economical and secure allocation of the parts to be married.
Furthermore, the object is to provide a book cover investor of the type mentioned, which stores several blanket formats at the same time, so that the book covers different format can be economically processed one after the other. Switching to the different formats should, if possible, be automatic.
The object is achieved by a book cover feeder for feeding book covers to a production unit of a book production line with the characterizing features of
The book cover feeder is integrated into a book production line, wherein the book finishing line side of a book cover stream has a leader and a drive side. The book covers can be conveyed as a book cover stream in a production direction through the book cover feeder. The book cover feeder has a feeder, a ceiling magazine and a singulator. On the feeder n book covers are individually, scaled and / or placed as a stack.
The book covers of a pile are book covers of a format. The ceiling magazine has a stacking shaft in which the book covers of a scaly stream of books can be collected prior to their separation. The singling device isolated according to the known principle of a separating step each bottom book cover from the stack and promotes them simultaneously in the production direction. In principle, a wide variety of known separation principles can be used. The feeder, the ceiling magazine and the singler are integral or consecutive.
Depending on the design, compact designs can be realized as well as designs with more buffering options for individual book covers or entire stacks.
The feed device has on the driver's side and / or the drive side on a subdivided in any number of segments side guide device. The segments are arranged one behind the other in the direction of production.
Such a ceiling feeder allows adaptation of the feeder depending on the format of the stack applied to one of the segments. The ceiling feeder can be automated.
According to an advantageous embodiment of the book cover feeder, at least one first segment of the side guide device in the production direction is designed to be displaceable transversely to the production direction. If the feed device is designed to be correspondingly long, a plurality of segments which can be adjusted transversely to the direction of production make it possible to stock a plurality of detected stacks.
In this case, automation means that the stack automatically specifies a shift of the segment that corresponds to its format.
Seen in the direction of production rear segments of other advantageous embodiments can be moved pneumatically to the rear.
Since the aligned book covers are fed very slowly on the book cover magazine is a lateral displacement of the book covers excluded.
When large runs are processed, extended segments are retracted so that the segments form a closed plane. This is necessary because, due to a one-man operation and a high processing speed, the entire tape length is used for laying the book covers of a format.
According to a further advantageous embodiment of the book cover feeder, at least one last segment of the side guide device seen in the direction of production is displaceable transversely to the production direction together with a corresponding lateral guide element of the stacking shaft. In a book cover feeder formed in this way, according to a further advantageous embodiment, the segments and the side guide element are mechanically connected to one another via a longitudinal base. Such book cover investors are particularly cost-effective and space-saving design.
According to a further advantageous embodiment of the book cover feeder, one or more of the segments is in each case rotatable in the longitudinal base by means of a mounted spindle transversely to the direction of production against the longitudinal base displaced. The spindle can be driven by means of a drive via a spindle gear.
According to a further advantageous embodiment of the book cover feeder, one or more of the segments is displaceable transversely to the production direction by means of a lifting cylinder.
According to a further advantageous embodiment of the book cover feeder, the spindle and the lifting cylinder are coupled together in series.
In a book cover feeder according to one of the advantageous embodiments with at least one slidable transversely to the production direction segment, this segment is aligned parallel to the production direction and by means of guide elements, in particular by means of a paired telescopic guide, the alignment parallel to the direction of production, transversely displaceable to the production direction.
A ceiling feed can be designed individually in individual embodiments by means of individual strips, each with a separate drive. Adjustment devices and guides of the segments of further advantageous embodiments are mounted stationary.
A book cover feeder according to a further advantageous embodiment has at least one sensor for recognizing and reading an identifier of any book cover or stack. A first such sensor is arranged on the end of the feed device facing away from the stacking shaft in the production direction.
In a book cover feeder in accordance with a further advantageous embodiment, a signal generator is subsequently arranged on the feeder or on the end of the feeder device facing the stacking shaft in the direction of production. The signal generator is suitable for detecting a gap between placed book covers.
- e. Fördern des ersten Stapels in Produktionsrichtung.
- a. Recognizing and reading an identifier of a detected batch,
- b. Invoking ceiling information about the detected stack,
- c. Aligning the first segment as a function of a format information obtained via the identifier,
- d. Placing the detected stack consisting of n book covers on the feeder to the first segment and
- e. Conveying the first stack in the production direction.
According to an advantageous embodiment of the method, the method steps follow one another in a sequence a-b-c-d-e.
According to a further advantageous embodiment of the method, the method steps are repeated as sequences. Sequentially by sequence, several detected stacks are placed one after another on the feeder. This results in a sequential, format-dependent alignment of the first segment.
According to a further advantageous embodiment of the method, the first segment is moved during its alignment by means of a lifting cylinder and / or a spindle in a target position.

The known

The existing from the book covers 7.1 to 7.

The buffering of the book cover feeder preferably comprises several hundred book covers and thus creates the necessary production lead for book block production.
The new sequential split and adjustable for the format
Depending on the equipment of the machine, there are 8 or 14 book blocks in the processing stations instead of the already mentioned 4 book blocks. This fact makes it imperative that the correct order of book block and book cover is in the machine. In a mismatch of book block and book cover the corresponding book block is ejected before entering the book production line. Thus, in the book production line, only book blocks corresponding to the order and the order according to the request of the
Due to this automated procedure and data transmission a mismatch is almost impossible. If one of them nevertheless occurs, a production interruption is only made after several match attempts. The cross check of the book cover takes place in the ceiling feed. A barcode reader checks the data of the book cover with the data of the waiting book block two bars before merging the book block and book cover. In the case of Missmatch the book production line stops in a controlled manner, d. H. Processing steps are completed and the ceiling transport is stopped to remove the wrong book cover. Of the four books in the hanging machine, three are completed and taken out of the book production line. The fourth book block without book cover does not undergo side gluing and is taken from the book display.
Since the removed book block is not defective, but only has no book cover, it can be fed back later processing with the appropriate book cover.
