Als Folge dieser Verringerung wird während der Drehung der Trommel die Wäsche leichter über den Rand der Trommelkappe gedrückt und dann zwischen dem Schauglas und der Faltenbalgdichtung eingeklemmt. Dies ist aber nicht möglich, da der Wäscheabweiser beim Beladen ein Hindernis darstellt und somit störend wirkt. So kann bei kleineren Trommeldrehzahlen, z. B. kleiner als 400 Umdrehungen pro Minute, bei denen die Trommelauslenkung gering ist, der Wäscheabweiser schon sehr nahe an dem Trommelöffnungsrand geführt werden, ohne dass eine Berührung mit der Trommel gegeben ist. Durch den kleinen Spalt wird sichergestellt, dass sich keine Wäsche zwischen Wäscheabweiser und Trommelöffnungsrand hineinzieht und einklemmt. Bei einem Drehzahlbereich von unter 80 Umdrehungen pro Minute findet noch die Wäscheverteilung innerhalb der Trommel statt, wobei die Wäsche am Trommelmantel anliegt, wenn die Drehzahl weiter ansteigt. Der Wäscheabweiser wirkt dabei mit einer an der Laugenbehälterkappe angeordneten Verstelleinrichtung zusammen, die zum Trommelöffnungsrand radial wirkt. Die Verstelleinrichtung als solches umfasst hierbei einen Stößel, dessen unteres Ende in einen elastisch ausgebildeten Bereich des Wäscheabweisers eingefasst ist, und wobei dessen oberes Ende mit einer Antriebseinheit zusammenwirkt. Die Antriebseinheit steht hierbei in Wirkverbindung mit einer Steuereinheit der Waschmaschine. Um insbesondere den Bereich des Wäscheabweisers hier beweglich bzw. elastisch vorzuhalten, weist dieser eine im angeformten Wäscheabweiserbereich ausgebildete Hohlkammer auf. Zur elastischen Ausbildung ist die innere Wandung der Hohlkammer biegsam bzw. dehnbar ausgeführt, so dass der Wäscheabweiser in seiner Formgebung ein- und ausgefahren werden kann. Oberhalb der Hohlkammer im Bereich des Faltenbalgringes ist ein Führungskanal zur Aufnahme des Stößels angeordnet. Der Stößel führt in Verstellung des Wäscheabweisers entweder eine Hub-, eine Schwenk- oder eine Schiebebewegung aus, um auf diese Weise das Spaltmaß zum Trommelöffnungsrand zu beeinflussen.
