Definitions
- the invention relates to a method for setting a bank note processing machine, in which threshold values are established by sensors for the detection of bank notes that cannot be fit.
- threshold values are established by sensors for the detection of unfit bank notes
- the threshold values set by the operator then serve to separate the bank notes to be processed into fit and non-fit bank notes by means of the bank note processing machine, for which purpose the bank notes are sorted into different output compartments by the bank note processing machine, for example.
- EP 0 779 604 A1 and U.S. 6,012,565 In addition, methods for establishing threshold values for recognizing the authenticity of bank notes are known.
- the main disadvantage of the known methods is that it is very complicated and expensive for the operator to define suitable threshold values for the sensors of the bank note processing machine.
- the manufacturer of the bank note processing machine assumes predefined threshold values which are rigidly predefined. Problems arise here, for example. B. by aging or soiling of the bank note processing machine or by changes in the bank notes to be processed. If one or more of the threshold values is set even slightly too high by the operator, banknotes which are actually no longer suitable for circulation are classified as fit for circulation by the banknote processing machine. However, one or more of the thresholds becomes even minor by the operator If set too low, bank notes that are actually suitable for circulation are classified by the bank note processing machine as no longer suitable for circulation. Thus, the bank notes to be processed are not separated into fit and unfit bank notes in the manner desired by the operator.
- the object of the present invention is therefore to provide a method for setting a bank note processing machine in which threshold values are set by sensors for the detection of unfit bank notes without an operator having to intervene or without an operator having to select or define the thresholds .
- a control device In a method for setting a banknote processing machine in which threshold values of sensors for the detection of banknotes that are not fit for circulation due to contamination and / or damage are set by a control device, it is assumed that the control device then analyzes stored data from the sensors, such as the soiling and / or damage to the individual selected banknotes is severe, and on the basis of this analysis the data of a predetermined number of selected banknotes which have the most severe soiling and / or damage is used to determine the at least one threshold value.
- the advantage of the invention is in particular that an operator of the bank note processing machine can change the threshold values of the sensors at any time without complicated setting processes by providing fit and unfit bank notes and entering a rate for unfit bank notes.
- the fit and unfit Bank notes are processed by the bank note processing machine in a special processing mode and the threshold value (s) are automatically determined by the bank note processing machine or its control device according to the bank note properties of the fit and unfit bank notes. Since the processing of the selection of fit and unfit bank notes by the bank note processing machine is carried out in a way that the operator is also familiar with from all other processing operations or processing modes, an extremely simple method for determining the threshold values is made available is performed without any intervention or control by the operator.
- the single FIGURE shows the basic structure of a bank note processing machine for carrying out a method for setting a bank note processing machine, in which threshold values are established by sensors for the detection of bank notes that cannot be fit.
- the figure shows a bank note processing machine 1 which has an input compartment 20 into which bank notes 10 to be processed can be inserted, ie bank notes that are to be separated into fit and unfit bank notes.
- the bank notes 10 are individually picked up one after the other by a singler 25 and transferred to a transport system 30.
- the transport system 30 transports the individual bank notes through a measuring device 41.
- the measuring device 41 contains at least one sensor, the signal of which allows conclusions to be drawn about the state of the respective bank note in order to be able to assess and classify the bank note as fit or unfit.
- the sensor or sensors of the measuring device 41 can be, for example, optical sensors and suitable light sources, the sensors detecting light reflected by the respective bank note or light transmitted through the respective bank note, e.g. B. light of a certain wavelength or a certain wavelength range. Further sensors can, for example, evaluate acoustic and / or mechanical and / or thermal and / or magnetic and / or electrical properties of the respective bank note.
- the sensors mentioned, for. B. Statements are possible as to whether the respective banknote is dirty or damaged, or whether it has foreign bodies such as clips or adhesive strips that affect the fitness of the respective banknote.
- a control device 40 determines the z. B. can be formed by a microprocessor with an associated memory, whether the bank note is a fit or a non-fit bank note. For this purpose, the control device 40 compares the signals made available by the measuring device 41 with predetermined threshold values which, for. B. are stored in the memory of the control device 40.
- control device 40 controls gates 31 and 33 in the transport system 30 in order, for example, to deposit fit bank notes in a first output compartment 32 and unfit bank notes in a second output compartment 34. Further switches or output compartments can be provided in the transport system 30 of the bank note processing machine 1 and are indicated by a continuation 35.
- the z. B. can consist of a keyboard and a display, is used for the operation of the bank note processing machine 1 by an operator.
- commands can be entered using the keyboard or processing modes can be selected and processing results can be displayed using the display or the operator can be prompted by means of instructions to perform certain actions.
- the operator selects any number of banknotes that he classifies as unfit, ie. H. these banknotes show abnormalities such as soiling, damage, clips, adhesive strips, etc. In the same way, the operator selects any amount of banknotes that he classifies as fit, i. E. H. these banknotes have z. B. at most a slight contamination and / or damage that is not perceived as annoying.
- the operator selects an operating mode of the bank note processing machine 1 in which the one or more threshold values for determining fitness for circulation can be established.
- the operator uses the input / output device 45 to enter a rate for the banknotes classified as unfit for circulation, e.g. B. in percent. If, for example, 10% of the banknotes are classified as unfit by the operator, this value is entered by the operator.
- controlled by the control device 40 the operator is then requested to do so by the input / output device 45, for example and insert unfit bank notes into the input compartment 20.
- the bank notes are picked up individually by the singler 25 and transferred to the transport system 30.
- the measuring device 41 or the sensor or sensors contained therein, determines signals representative of the respective bank note, which are transmitted to the control device 40.
- the data of the signals of the measuring device 41 can be stored in the memory of the control device 40 in unchanged form. It is also possible for the signals of the measuring device 41 to be processed by the control device 40, the data of the result obtained during processing being stored.
- the processed bank notes are transported by the transport system 30, for example into the second output compartment 34, under the control of the control unit 40.
- the control device 40 determines one or more threshold values for the sensor (s) of the measuring device 41.
- the data of all selected bank notes stored in the memory of the control device 40 are analyzed by the control device 40, such as strong z. B. the soiling and / or damage, etc. of the individual banknotes.
- the data of the 10% of the selected bank notes are used for the determination or selection of the threshold value (s) which have the greatest contamination and / or damage, etc.
- the control device 40 determines the threshold value or values from the stored data and stores it in its memory for later use. However, it can also be provided that a large number of threshold values have already been determined beforehand and stored in the memory, e.g. B. in the manufacture of the banknote processing machine 1. In this case, the control device 40 selects the existing threshold value or values which best correspond to the stored data.
- the data stored in the memory of the control device 40 can be deleted.
- the bank-note processing machine 1 uses the threshold value (s) stored or selected in the memory of the control device 40.
- threshold values In order to ensure the safe separation of fit and unfit banknotes, separate threshold values must be determined or selected for each type of banknote, since each type of banknote has its own physical properties, which usually differ greatly from banknotes of another type. This means that the above-described determination of threshold values using unfit and fit bank notes must be carried out for each denomination of each currency that is to be processed with the bank note processing machine 1.
- the type of banknotes to be processed is first determined by the operator or determined by the banknote processing machine 1 in order to be able to undertake the associated threshold value (s) for separating the banknotes to be processed into fit and unfit banknotes.
- the set of selected bank notes described above must include at least one non-fit and at least one fit bank note. Better results in determining or selecting thresholds however, the separation of bank notes into fit and unfit bank notes is achieved if a larger number of fit and unfit bank notes are selected and processed by bank note processing machine 1 in the operating mode for determining the threshold value (s).
- threshold value should not only be understood to mean a value that is fixedly predetermined for one or more of the sensors of the measuring device 41. Rather, functions, interpolations, approximations, etc. can also be provided which describe a separation function which allows the bank notes to be examined to be separated in the desired manner.

Description
The invention relates to a method for setting a bank note processing machine, in which threshold values are established by sensors for the detection of bank notes that cannot be fit.
The main disadvantage of the known methods is that it is very complicated and expensive for the operator to define suitable threshold values for the sensors of the bank note processing machine. In this case, for example, the manufacturer of the bank note processing machine assumes predefined threshold values which are rigidly predefined.
The object of the present invention is therefore to provide a method for setting a bank note processing machine in which threshold values are set by sensors for the detection of unfit bank notes without an operator having to intervene or without an operator having to select or define the thresholds .
This object is achieved by the features specified in claim 1.
In a method for setting a banknote processing machine in which threshold values of sensors for the detection of banknotes that are not fit for circulation due to contamination and / or damage are set by a control device, it is assumed that the control device then analyzes stored data from the sensors, such as the soiling and / or damage to the individual selected banknotes is severe, and on the basis of this analysis the data of a predetermined number of selected banknotes which have the most severe soiling and / or damage is used to determine the at least one threshold value.
The advantage of the invention is in particular that an operator of the bank note processing machine can change the threshold values of the sensors at any time without complicated setting processes by providing fit and unfit bank notes and entering a rate for unfit bank notes. The fit and unfit Bank notes are processed by the bank note processing machine in a special processing mode and the threshold value (s) are automatically determined by the bank note processing machine or its control device according to the bank note properties of the fit and unfit bank notes. Since the processing of the selection of fit and unfit bank notes by the bank note processing machine is carried out in a way that the operator is also familiar with from all other processing operations or processing modes, an extremely simple method for determining the threshold values is made available is performed without any intervention or control by the operator.
Further advantages of the present invention emerge from the dependent claims and the following description of an embodiment based on a figure.
The single FIGURE shows the basic structure of a bank note processing machine for carrying out a method for setting a bank note processing machine, in which threshold values are established by sensors for the detection of bank notes that cannot be fit.
The figure shows a bank note processing machine 1 which has an
For the setting or the selection of one or more threshold values for unfit banknotes, the operator selects any number of banknotes that he classifies as unfit, ie. H. these banknotes show abnormalities such as soiling, damage, clips, adhesive strips, etc. In the same way, the operator selects any amount of banknotes that he classifies as fit, i. E. H. these banknotes have z. B. at most a slight contamination and / or damage that is not perceived as annoying.
By means of the input /
B. in Prozent, an. The operator uses the input /
Controlled by the
On the basis of the stored data of fit and unfit bank notes, the
When the threshold value or values are determined by the
After the threshold value or threshold values have been determined or selected, the data stored in the memory of the
In order to ensure the safe separation of fit and unfit banknotes, separate threshold values must be determined or selected for each type of banknote, since each type of banknote has its own physical properties, which usually differ greatly from banknotes of another type. This means that the above-described determination of threshold values using unfit and fit bank notes must be carried out for each denomination of each currency that is to be processed with the bank note processing machine 1. Correspondingly, when banknotes are processed later, the type of banknotes to be processed is first determined by the operator or determined by the banknote processing machine 1 in order to be able to undertake the associated threshold value (s) for separating the banknotes to be processed into fit and unfit banknotes.
The set of selected bank notes described above must include at least one non-fit and at least one fit bank note. Better results in determining or selecting thresholds however, the separation of bank notes into fit and unfit bank notes is achieved if a larger number of fit and unfit bank notes are selected and processed by bank note processing machine 1 in the operating mode for determining the threshold value (s).
In addition to the described distinction between fit and unfit bank notes, it is also possible to make further distinctions that depend on the state of the bank notes. For example, additional threshold values can be established for bank notes that are suitable for use in a cash dispenser. Such bank notes generally have to meet higher requirements with regard to their condition than bank notes that are generally fit for circulation.
Likewise, the term threshold value should not only be understood to mean a value that is fixedly predetermined for one or more of the sensors of the measuring
