Die Positionierung des Bedienrechners relativ zu der Tablettenpresse wird hierbei durch die Kabelverbindung beschränkt. Zwar eignet sich eine solche Datenverbindung nicht zur Übertragung mit einer hohen Datenrate, doch ist die bei der Verwendung von Sende-/Empfangseinheiten über Funk und/oder Infrarot erzielbare Datenrate für den Bedienrechner ausreichend. Mit dem drahtlosen Datenaustausch werden Kommunikationskabel im Produktionsraum vermieden, wodurch ein geringerer Aufwand bei der Reinigung des Produktionsraums anfällt.
