Definitions
- the subject of the invention is a multipurpose vessel that has the special form enabling the use of the same as the permanent returnable packing container for storage and transport of coatings, and which in performing house painting, decorator's and varnishing works may be used as the receptacle for paint and rack for hand tools as e.g. paint brushes, rollers and scrapers.
- the inventions is related to a vessel for packing and laying fluid coatings in the shape of a mantle of multisided truncated pyramid with equal thickness of walls, which larger central plane part of the rear side is pressed in the vessel under an angle larger than the inclination angle of the rear side and on which interior surface a plane ribbed surface is made, further comprising means for straining and distribution of the coating on a plunged requisite for laying and a cover.
- the invention belongs to the following field of technique:
- the modern solid or semisolid packing vessels for coatings have been mainly used as the containers for their storage and transport. These vessels have the shape of a mantle of truncated, hollow upright cone with equal wall thickness and small angle of the side inclination towards the central axis. The smaller lower basis of the cone is closed with the bottom and the larger upper open basis is closed with the cover.
- the bases of the container have the shape of a circle or ellipse. The volume of these containers amounts from two to twenty litres.
- these containers are often used also as vessels out of which fluid coatings are laid manually on the surfaces in the way that in them the coating for laying is prepared and requisites for laying are soaking.
- Using these containers as vessels for house painting, decorator's and varnishing works has many shortages because formatively and functionally they are not constructed for this purpose. Excess paint is removed from rollers and brushes on the grill inserted in the container with coating. Temporary putting down rollers, brushes and scrapers during the work should be done on other places out of the containers which results in scattering the coating about and dirtying the space with scattered coating.

- containers for fluid coatings that are used also as containers for laying fluid coatings
- containers, made for a special purpose used exclusively as vessels for preparation and manual laying of coatings.
- These containers of a simple pyramidal shape are used exclusively as containers for keeping and carrying the coating during laying without the possibility of putting down the hand requisites.
- the patent US 5341969 showing a vessel according to the preamble of claim 1, describes the container used for keeping and carrying the coating, as well as removing excess paint from brushes and rollers and temporary putting down the hand requisites during laying fluid coatings.
- the described container has the shape of a mantle of reverse hollow truncated pyramid on which inner lateral rear side the plane ribbed surface for removing excess coating from requisites for laying is made and on the former lateral side there is a small vessel for temporary putting down the requisites for laying coating.
- This container unites the role of container and rack for putting down the requisites during laying the fluid coatings.
- the exclusive purpose of the described container is preparation and manual laying fluid coatings. Because of a complex nine-angular shape of the opening the impermeable closing of the container was not solved and therefore it could not be used as the container for storage and transport of fluid coatings, nor for keeping the rest of coating for the next use. In case of pouring the fluid coating out of the container over the front edge of the opening, the coating is poured from the large vessel into the small one and then from the small vessel it runs out, which makes more difficult the discharge of the vessel. The arrangement and shape of the small vessel give to this container a complex form, which results in more expensive production of the whole container.
- the vessel according to the invention solves the technical problem of construction of an attractive, simple and economic container for storage and transport of fluid coatings and the vessel for preparation and manual laying fluid coatings.
- coating is packed in the container, which is upon completed filling impermeably closed with the cover and transported to the place for laying.
- the preparation of coating for laying is made in the way, that a part of the coating is poured from the vessel in order to dilute the rest of the coating with the diluent and binder and to decrease its level in the container.
- the prepared coating may be carried during laying in a closed or open container. In the course of laying, in the vessel the requisites are soaked, excess coating is removed from the requisites and the requisites may be temporary put away. Upon completed laying, the rest of the coating is impermeably closed in the container till the next use.

- the problems of airtight closing the vessel and leakage of the coating from the vessel during the transport and laying the coating are solved.
- the space for temporary putting down the requisites for laying the coating is increased for two spaces.
- the simplified shape of the whole vessel and particularly of its opening enables simpler and cost effective manufacture.
- This constructional and formative properties of the vessel enable its application as a permanent returnable packing container for storage and transport of coating, as well as the vessel for paint and rack for hand tools in carrying out the house painting, decoxator's and varnishing works.
- Preferred embodiments of the inventive vessel or container can be taken from the subclaims.

Abstract
Description
- The subject of the invention is a multipurpose vessel that has the special form enabling the use of the same as the permanent returnable packing container for storage and transport of coatings, and which in performing house painting, decorator's and varnishing works may be used as the receptacle for paint and rack for hand tools as e.g. paint brushes, rollers and scrapers. The inventions is related to a vessel for packing and laying fluid coatings in the shape of a mantle of multisided truncated pyramid with equal thickness of walls, which larger central plane part of the rear side is pressed in the vessel under an angle larger than the inclination angle of the rear side and on which interior surface a plane ribbed surface is made, further comprising means for straining and distribution of the coating on a plunged requisite for laying and a cover.
- According to the international classification, the invention belongs to the following field of technique:
- B44D-003/12 - Containers for Colour; Racks for Paint Brushes; Receptacles for Keeping the Rests of Colour,
- B05C-011/11 - Drums or other Containers for Fluids or other Fluid Material.
The bases of the container have the shape of a circle or ellipse. The volume of these containers amounts from two to twenty litres.
- In the practice, these containers are often used also as vessels out of which fluid coatings are laid manually on the surfaces in the way that in them the coating for laying is prepared and requisites for laying are soaking. Using these containers as vessels for house painting, decorator's and varnishing works has many shortages because formatively and functionally they are not constructed for this purpose. Excess paint is removed from rollers and brushes on the grill inserted in the container with coating. Temporary putting down rollers, brushes and scrapers during the work should be done on other places out of the containers which results in scattering the coating about and dirtying the space with scattered coating.
- The vessel according to the invention solves the technical problem of construction of one multipurpose product that meets the purpose of economical and permanent returnable container for storage and transport of fluid coatings, as well as the purpose of economical and permanent container and rack for manual laying fluid coatings.
- In addition to the packing containers for fluid coatings that are used also as containers for laying fluid coatings, there are also containers, made for a special purpose, used exclusively as vessels for preparation and manual laying of coatings. These containers of a simple pyramidal shape are used exclusively as containers for keeping and carrying the coating during laying without the possibility of putting down the hand requisites.
- The patent
US 5341969 , showing a vessel according to the preamble ofclaim 1, describes the container used for keeping and carrying the coating, as well as removing excess paint from brushes and rollers and temporary putting down the hand requisites during laying fluid coatings. The described container has the shape of a mantle of reverse hollow truncated pyramid on which inner lateral rear side the plane ribbed surface for removing excess coating from requisites for laying is made and on the former lateral side there is a small vessel for temporary putting down the requisites for laying coating. This container unites the role of container and rack for putting down the requisites during laying the fluid coatings.
In the factory, coating is packed in the container, which is upon completed filling impermeably closed with the cover and transported to the place for laying. The preparation of coating for laying is made in the way, that a part of the coating is poured from the vessel in order to dilute the rest of the coating with the diluent and binder and to decrease its level in the container. The prepared coating may be carried during laying in a closed or open container. In the course of laying, in the vessel the requisites are soaked, excess coating is removed from the requisites and the requisites may be temporary put away. Upon completed laying, the rest of the coating is impermeably closed in the container till the next use.
- For solving the above problems the vessel according to the invention is essentially characterized in that the vessel has the shape of a mantle of five-sided truncated pyramid with conically rounded edges and equal thickness of the wall, which lower smaller basis is closed by the bottom and the upper larger basis ends in a plane five-sided opening with a collar, bended outwards, which sides have the shape of a trapezoid, widening a bit from the bottom towards the opening of the vessel, so that their inclination towards vertical lines punching them is very small, which is symmetrical with reference to the vertical longitudinal symmetry in which lower parts of front side edges there are made prismatic incursions forming two recesses which in the mantle of the vessel make two step-like surfaces above which, in the inside of the vessel there are two L-shaped mirror symmetrical vertical compartments, wherein the ends of the compartments are linked with the lateral and front side of the vessel, one of the arms of each compartment comprises a longitudinal slit and each compartment together with the lateral and front side of the vessel and the step-like surface define internal vessels, whose bottoms are approximately on the half of the height of the vessel.
- With the container or vessel according to the invention, the problems of airtight closing the vessel and leakage of the coating from the vessel during the transport and laying the coating, are solved. The space for temporary putting down the requisites for laying the coating, is increased for two spaces. The simplified shape of the whole vessel and particularly of its opening, enables simpler and cost effective manufacture. This constructional and formative properties of the vessel enable its application as a permanent returnable packing container for storage and transport of coating, as well as the vessel for paint and rack for hand tools in carrying out the house painting, decoxator's and varnishing works.
- Preferred embodiments of the inventive vessel or container can be taken from the subclaims.

Fig. 4 is the front-view of the vessel. -
Fig. 4A is the front-view of the cover. - The container or
vessel 1 has essentially the shape of a mantle of five-sided pyramid with the walls of equal thickness. The lower smaller base of this mantle is closed by the bottom of the vessel and the upper larger base of this mantle is open and ends in the plane five-sided opening with the collar bended outwards. Lateral sides of the vessel have the shapes of a trapezoid widening a bit from the bottom towards the opening of the vessel, so that their inclination towards vertical lines piercing them, is very small. The side edges of the vessel are conically rounded. The vessel is symmetrical with reference to the vertical longitudinal plane of the symmetry S. - The plane opening of the
vessel 1 is airtightly closed with the five-sided plane cover 2 having the shape of a five-sided opening of thevessel 1. The seat of thevessel 1 and thecover 2 is achieved through the assembling disassembling joint between the bended collar 3 of thevessel 1 and the groove 4 on the edge of thecover 2. The airtightness of the joint is ensured by the seat of the surface 5 of the groove 4 to the inner surface 6 of the collar 3 in the way, that by even pressing, thecover 2 is pressed on thevessel 1, till thecollar 7 in the groove 4 comes under the elastic lower edge 8 of the collar 3. The elastic joint of thecollar 7 and the edge 8 ensures the permanent joint of thevessel 1 and thecover 2, resp. airtight seat between the surface 5 on thecover 2 and the surface 6 on thevessel 1. This joint enables the use of the vessel as the packing container for permanent packing of the coating and temporary putting down the surplus of coating. The vessel is opened by pulling thecover 2 upwards, till loosening the elastic joint of thecollar 7 and the edge 8. - In the vessels, there are factory-packed basic components of multicomponent coatings or undiluted components of single-component coatings to be diluted with water. Factory-packed basic components of coatings should be prepared for laying by mixing with other components or diluting with water. In order to be able to prepare the coating in the
vessel 1, a part of the basic component of the coating should be poured from thevessel 1 into another vessel, so that the rest of the coating in thevessel 1, could be diluted and/or other components of the coating added, so that the composition of the prepared coating would correspond to the composition necessary for laying. - The coating prepared for laying is mostly manually layed on larger plane surfaces by means of rollers and on smaller plane and angular surfaces by means of brushes. Laying is performed in the way, that rollers and brushes are plunged into the coating. In order that the coating would be evenly distributed on the plunged roller or brush, it is necessary to remove the excess coating and to distribute the remaining coating evenly. This is achieved by rolling the plunged roller or pulling the plunged brush on the rough or porous surface, whereby the excess of coating shall be strained and the rest of coating shall be evenly distributed on the plunged laying requisite.
- In order that the
vessel 1 may be used also as a vessel for paint and rack for hand tools in performing house painting, decorator's and varnishing works, the basic shape of the vessel as a mantle of five-sided truncated pyramid with equal wall thickness, was changed. - The first change of the basic shape refers to the rear
lateral side 9 which largercentral plane part 10 is pressed in thevessel 1 in the way, that it is turned around from the collar 3 of the opening towards the inside of thevessel 1 under the angle exceeding the angle of the inclination of theside 9. On theinner surface 11 of theplane part 10 the plane ribbedplane 12, used for straining and distribution of the coating on the plunged laying requisites, is made. - The width of the ribbed surface is equal to or a bit larger than the height of the largest roller and its length is larger than double periphery of the outer diameter of the largest roller.
- The second change of the basic shape refers to two side front edges of the
vessel 1. The lower parts of the front side edges of thevessel 1 are formed by prismatic incursions forming twoequal recesses 13 forming in the mantle of thevessel 1 two equal step-like surfaces 14. Above therecesses 13 resp. step-like surfaces 14 in the inside of thevessel 1 there are two equal L-shapedcompartments 15. One end of eachcompartment 15 is linked to the lateral and the second to the front side of thevessel 1. In one of the arms of eachcompartment 15 thelongitudinal slit 16 is made. Each compartment together with lateral and front side to which its ends are connected and thesurface 14 on which it is located, makes theinside vessel 17. - Bottoms of the
inside vessels 17 are approximately on the half of the height of thevessel 1. - The
inside vessels 17 are used for temporary putting down rollers and brushes in course of laying the coating. - In such a way performed changes of the basic shape of the
vessel 1 enable its manufacture by technology of pressure injection out of polymer materials as one-piece product manufactured in one tool with simple kinematics. - When the
vessel 1 is used as the packing container for packing and transport, almost the whole internal hollow together withinternal vessels 17 is filled up with the coating, up to the collar 3 resp.cover 2. - When the
vessel 1 is used as the vessel for laying the coating and rack for hand tools in performing the house painting, decorator's and varnishing works, the inicital highest level R of the coating prepared for laying in thevessel 1 should be beneath the bottom ofinternal vessels 17. A part of the internal hollow of thevessel 1 beneath the bottom ofinternal vessels 17 is used as the container for coating and a part above the bottom ofinternal vessels 17 is used as a rack for temporary putting down hand tools for laying the coating. On the upper part of theribbed surface 12 placed above the level R of the coating P, removing of the excess and distribution of coating by rolling the plunged roller on the upper part of theribbed surface 12, is performed. The rollers are temporary put down in the way that with their free end they are sticked over the collar 3 in thevessel 1, so that the rest of coating may strain in thevessel 1. - The coating on plunged brushes is also distributed by pulling on the
ribbed surface 12. - Temporary putting down the brushes is made by inserting in the inside of the
vessel 17. The rest of the coating that remained on the inserted brushes is strained throughslits 16 into thevessel 1. - Carrying the vessel I is made in the known manner by means of arc-bended grip, which ends are pushed in the
openings 18 oncarriers 19, placed beneath the collar 3 in the middle of lateral sides of thecontainer 1. - Pouring the coating from the
vessel 1 through the collar 3 above thefront edge 20 of the opening is performed in the way, that the vessel is held with one hand for the grip and lifted above the vessel into which the coating should be poured and finger tips of the other hand are put in therecess 21 in the bottom of thevessel 1. By inclining thevessel 1, whereby the vessel rotates round the ends of the grip, the coating is poured out from thevessel 1 and over thefront edge 20 of the opening of thevessel 1. - From the description of the embodiment it results that the
vessel 1 with thecover 2 is the practical and economical multipurpose product. It may be used as a durable, reusable packing container for packing and transport of fluid coatings, as well as durable usable vessel for preparing and laying the coating and the rack for temporary putting down the hand tools in the course of laying the coating.
