Differential switches of the above-mentioned kind are known in which the basic structure of the apparatus does not make it possible to receive a card comprising the auxiliary power supply electronic circuit, which is equipped with both the differential tripping device and the mechanism for opening the contacts of the device. In these devices indeed, it is necessary to mount the contact tear spring inside the base before the mechanism, which makes the assembly complex because it is necessary to bring the support bearing shaft support against the spring. As a result, it is not possible to receive in the base of the device, an electronic card connected in advance on the mechanism.

The present invention solves this problem and proposes a differential switch whose assembly is considerably simplified.

For this purpose, the subject of the present invention is a differential electrical protection apparatus such as a switch, this apparatus being characterized in that the base of the apparatus comprises an opening for introducing the spring into the aforementioned housing after mounting, inside the base of the housing of the device, the card equipped with the differential release device and on which card has been previously fixed the mechanism.

According to a particular embodiment, the housing of the apparatus comprising a front face having, on either side of a projecting portion housing the aforementioned mechanism, two connecting faces accommodating the connection terminals of the apparatus, the device is characterized in that the aforementioned insertion opening of the spring is located substantially at the intersection between one of the connecting faces and the above projecting portion.

According to a particular feature, the aforementioned mechanism is supported by a flange comprising latching means cooperating with complementary latching means provided on the base to ensure at least partly the fixing of the mechanism on the base after mounting said mechanism on the map.

According to another particular characteristic, the housing of the toroid is arranged with respect to the card, so that this housing cooperates with the walls of the base so as to insure against each other, primary braids directly connecting the contacts mobile devices at the output terminals of the device.

According to a particular characteristic, the aforementioned mechanism is fixed by plugging on the card.

  • FIG. 4 is a longitudinal sectional view parallel to the main plane of said apparatus, and illustrating the internal components of said apparatus, and
  • Figure 5 is also a longitudinal sectional view, but in a plane perpendicular to the main plane of the apparatus.

In FIGS. 2 to 5, an electronic differential switch D is shown intended to be placed on an electrical network so as to protect it against ground insulation faults. In a manner known per se, this apparatus is housed in a substantially parallelepiped shaped housing comprising a base 1 and a cover (not visible in the drawings). This switch comprises, as more particularly illustrated in FIG. 1, a differential tripping device 2 mounted on an electronic card 3, said card 3 comprising an auxiliary power supply processing electronic circuit and a mechanism 4 for opening and closing contacts 5.6. This assembly is mounted (FIG. 2) in a compartment 7 of the base 1 of the isolator housing of the switch intended to house input connection terminals 8 and output terminals 9 to constitute a differential switch D.

The differential tripping device 2 comprises, in a manner known per se, a totalizing transformer 10 and an electromagnetic tripping relay 11. The totalizing transformer 10 constitutes a differential current detector and is provided with a toroidal magnetic circuit 12 having a central orifice 13 may be traversed by the primary windings 14,15 constituted by the power conductors of the low voltage network to be protected. A secondary winding 16 is wound on the core 12, and is electrically connected to a measurement resistor of the electronic circuit.

The electromagnetic tripping relay 11 is formed by a current-transmitting coil actuator 17. The tubular coil 17 is carried by a support, and comprises, in a known way within a bore, a movable magnetic core (not visible in the figures) coupled to an actuating member. The relay coil is connected to two terminals of the electronic circuit.

Referring to FIGS. 2 to 4, it can be seen that the base 1 of the housing includes a housing 18 intended to receive a spring 19 called a pull spring capable of biasing the movable contacts 5, 6 in the open position after the tripping of the device. In operation, and as visible in Figure 4, the spring 19 is supported by its two opposite ends 19a, 19b respectively on a wall of the base 1 of the housing, and on a shaft 20 said contact carrier supporting the movable contacts 5 6. According to the invention, this housing 18 has an access port 21 located so as to allow the mounting of the spring 19 after assembly of the assembly consisting of the card 3 equipped with the mechanism 4 and the trigger device 2 to the Inside the base 1. According to a particular embodiment of the invention, this orifice 21 is located at the intersection between, on the one hand, the projecting part s (FIG. 4) housing the opening and closing mechanism 4 and on the other hand, one 22 of the connecting faces 22,23 of the apparatus.

The device is installed as follows. Firstly, the primary conductors 14, 15 are introduced through the torus 12 (FIG. These primaries 14,15 are connected, by one of their ends 14a, 15a, respectively to the output connection terminals 9 of the apparatus, and by their opposite end 14b, 15b respectively to the two movable contacts 5,6. The mechanism 4 for opening and closing the contacts is then plugged or plugged onto the card 3 (FIG. 1), then the assembly is inserted into the opening of the base 1. The attachment of this assembly to the base 1 is realized on the one hand, by snapping mechanism 4 on the base 1 thanks to the presence of a hook 25 provided on the flange 26 supporting the mechanism 4, said hook 25 being adapted to cooperate with a complementary latching element 27 provided on the base 1 and on the other hand, by means of a screw (not shown) passing through two orifices 30, 31 respectively provided in the flange 26 and in the base 1. The tearing spring 19 can then be inserted (position b) in the housing 18 of the base 1 through the opening 21 provided for this purpose in the base 1, as shown more particularly in Figure 4, to the position shown in (a). In this latter position (a), the spring 19 is supported on the one hand, on a wall belonging to the base 1 and on the other hand, on the contact-holder shaft 20.

In this position, as can be seen in particular with reference to FIG. 5, the housing 29 of the core 12 is arranged with respect to the card 3 in such a way that this housing 29 cooperates with the walls 28 of the base 1 so as to insulating, with respect to each other, primary braids 14,15 directly connecting the movable contacts 5,6 to the output ranges 9 of the apparatus. This ensures insulation of the active conductors 14,15 between them at lower cost.

Thus, thanks to the invention, it is not necessary to mount the contact tear spring before the mechanism which results in easier assembly of the switch because the base can receive an electronic card connected to the 'advance on the mechanism and which thus contains the whole of the differential function.

Of course, the invention is not limited to the embodiments described and illustrated which have been given by way of example. The invention applies both to switches and circuit breakers.
