Definitions

  • the invention relates to pliers according to the preamble of the claim 1.
  • Such pliers are already known from US 5,842,371.
  • This well-known Tongs contain a first work jaw and one with this firmly connected first pliers handle, one on the first work jaw pivoted second work jaws, a second plier handle, the section of the second pointing towards the rear end of the pliers Work jaw is attached, a link between the first and second pliers handle to form a knee lever, and one on the front Prevent pawl located at the end of the second plier handle spreading the pliers handles before they reach their closed position have, for this purpose the pawl in a row of teeth attacks.
  • This row of teeth is at the bottom of conventional pliers End of the link, with the row of teeth coaxial with the hinge point arranged between the link and the second pliers handle is.
  • the pliers by the pawl must ensure the teeth of the Row of teeth are relatively stable. Is a certain number of teeth given the row of teeth, the row of teeth must be in a relatively large Distance from the aforementioned hinge point. This leads to, that the second plier handle, which holds the row of teeth and pawl, must be relatively large, which is a little compact Pliers leads. Reducing the size of the second pliers handle would increase the risk inherent in exposing parts of the row of teeth and pawl what would increase the risk of injury.
  • the invention has for its object a pair of pliers of the type mentioned to be more compact in the grip area.
  • a pair of pliers according to the invention, according to the preamble of the claim 1 is formed, characterized in that the second Working jaws two in the pliers plane at a distance from each other and to has rear leg pointing legs, of which the one Row of teeth that is closer to the first work jaw.
  • the pliers can thus be made more compact in the grip area. Due to the available space, with a predetermined number of teeth the teeth are also made relatively large or stable, so that a more secure Locking operation of the pliers is guaranteed.
  • a work jaw designed in this way initially creates a relatively large amount of space along the length of the leg to form the row of teeth placed so that the row of teeth with a given number of teeth also can be made relatively stable.
  • a work jaw only a very light weight due to the space between the legs remains and material is clamped in this way.
  • the row of teeth comes preferably coaxially to the second work jaws and the articulation point connecting the second pliers handle to lie what Manufacture and positioning of pawl and row of teeth simplified.
  • the row of teeth lies against that Side of said leg, which is opposite the other leg, the pawl being pivoted on the second plier handle is stored, is stored between these legs.
  • the pawl can thus within the second work jaw be accommodated so that there is also space in the area of the work jaws can be saved, which leads to an even more compact pliers.
  • a tension spring for pretensioning the pawl is in its zero position between this and that end of the link at which the hinge point mentioned above is located. This can be done in the second grip at least one opening for unlocking the pawl is available if the pliers handles have not yet reached their closed position to have.
  • the two are Leg parts of a U-shaped central node element the pliers.
