Abstract
The invention relates to a packing system suitable in particular for packing and transport of liquids and bulk. The system comprises a rectangular container (1) placed on a pallet (2) at each of its four sides at least a pole (3) is located. The upper free ends of said poles being connected to each other.
Description
- The present invention relates to a packing system and more particularly to a system suitable for handling and packing and for transport of liquids, and transport and storage in bulk of such products as chemicals or foodstuffs.
- There is known a container for transportation of liquids or material in bulk which is a "one-way" container, namely disposable or collapsable suitable for shipping by road, rail or sea. Such containers are usually handled by conventionally used equipment such as forklifts, hand trucks, conveyors, etc. The type and advantage of such packing is well known in the trade and does not need further elaboration.
- The above container is made of strong flexible material and is of cylindrical configuration. Usually it is placed on top of a wooden pallet for easy handling, from the four corners of said pallet extend four upright poles which support the container and which are inter-connected giving rigidity to the structure.
- As stated before, the advantages of the above packing and shipment system are many, however due to the fact that the container which is cylindrical is placed on a square pallet, a considerable space is lost between two or four adjacent pallets when placed side by side.
- Accordingly, it is the object of the present invention to provide a packing system for like use which wild make maximal use of the storing and shipping space.
- It is a further object of the present invention to provide a packing system which would enable to be disposed or re-used.
- According to the invention there is provided a container of rectangular configuration which is placed on a corresponding rectangular pallet at which at least one pole is located at approximately the middle of each of the four sides of said pallets, connecting means being provided to connect the free, upper ends of said poles.
- The invention will now be described with reference to the annexed drawings in which:
- Fig. 1 is a perspective illustration of the packing and storing system according to the invention, while
- Fig. 2 shows a practical embodiment thereof.
- Turning first to Fig. 1, a rectangular container 1 made of flexible material is placed on top of
pallet 2. Approximately, in the middle of each of the four sides of said pallet apole 3 is fixedly positioned. The free end of saidpole 3 extends slightly over container 1. Near to saidfree end ropes 4 are fixed connecting two opposing poles. The container may be filled with any kind of produce and shipped by any known means of transportation. Due to its relatively low cost, the pallets and containers are disposable. - The configuration illustrated in Fig. 2 is the same as the one described above, however two
poles 3 are provided in any of the four sides ofpal let 2. It is of course within the scope of the invention to provide 3 or 4 or more poles when so required by the size or weight of the pallets and containers. In that case vicinal poles may be inter-connected by ropes in addition to connection between opposite poles said connecting means could be as stated, ropes or belts or a rigid cross like member. - Where technical features mentioned in any claim are followed by reference signs, those reference signs have been included for the sole purpose of increasing the intelligibility of the claims and accordingly, such reference signs do not have any limiting effect on the scope of each element identified by way of example by such reference signs.
