Definitions

  • the subject of the present invention is an assembly for attaching a shoe to a body slides, such as a cross-country ski, but can also be constituted by a sliding member of type snowboard, roller skate, ice skate, ... etc.
  • It relates more specifically to a fastening assembly in which the shoe is fixed to the sliding member by its front part, its rear part, in particular the area of the heel, remaining free so as to allow a certain movement of the foot.
  • Such a binding principle is mainly used in cross-country skiing where the course of the foot is essential, both in so-called classic techniques and in skating steps.
  • Such a system allows a significant improvement in the guidance of the ski by the boot since the latter remains engaged, almost permanently, with the guide edge of the ski even when the heel is raised as long as the metatarsal area of the shoe remains in support on the ski.
  • the object of the present invention is to remedy these drawbacks and to provide a shoe / fastening device assembly which is improved and which allows to reconcile the two contradictory requirements of maximum unfolding of the foot and ski control / guidance.
  • the shoe / fastening device assembly which is of the type comprising means for fixing the front end of the boot, the rear end of the shoe being free of any attachment and free to lift relative to the body of slides and relative to the fixing device, by the fact that it comprises means, of control and permanent elastic return from the shoe to the sliding member, arranged at the rear means for fixing the front end of the shoe.
  • the elastic return means of the shoe are no longer arranged at the front of the shoe as usual, but at the back of the fastening means the anterior end of the shoe, allows control of the shoe relative to the sliding member over the entire area thereof extending between the means fixing its front end and these return means elastic, even when the shoe is in the air and in the position of extreme unwinding of the shoe, hence improved control and guidance.
  • the torsional rigidity of the sole is improved by the fact that the sole can no longer twist, i.e. twist on itself, in the area between the two successive fixing and control means.
  • such a construction has the advantage of not disturbing the deformation in flexion of the sole.
  • control and elastic return means are at the rear, the more control of the shoe will be important, however, these means of control and elastic return will be preferably arranged substantially at the metatarsophalangeal joint of the shoe this position constituting the best compromise between good control and minimum bulk of the fixing device.
  • Figures 1 to 5 show the shoe 2 / fastening device 10 assembly according to the invention applied to the connection of said shoe to a sliding member such as a cross-country ski 1.
  • the cross-country ski boot has the classic appearance of a boot provided on the underside of its sole with a longitudinal groove 3 continues and intended to cooperate with a continuous guide edge 11 of the fixing device 10.
  • this shoe 2 has, at its anterior end, a transverse axis 4 arranged across the groove 3, and, set back from the axis 4, another transverse axis 5 also arranged in through groove 3 and located substantially at the level of the area of the joint metatarsophalangeal of the foot, and at most at the rear limit of the first third in length of the shoe which constitutes the extreme rear limit of the metatarsophalangeal articulation zone.
  • the front transverse axis 4 is intended to cooperate, in a manner known per se, with a jaw mobile 12, hook-shaped and controlled by a lever 13, and the front edge 11a of the rib guide constituting a fixed jaw, for the rotary locking of the shoe on the slips.
  • a fixing device is described for example in the previous patent FR 2 634 132 at name of the applicant, and can be either manual closing or locking closing automatic. It will therefore not be described further.
  • the fixing device 10 also comprises a link 15, housed inside a recess associated and adjusted width 11b of the guide edge (see Figure 1) and having at its end free front a form of hook 16 turned towards the rear and intended to cooperate with the transverse axis rear 5 of the shoe for anchoring the latter at this level.
  • the end of the hook 16 of the rod has a shape enlarged by relative to the rest of the body of the rod 15, to adjust as best as possible to the width of the associated groove 3 of the shoe at this location, and contribute to guiding the shoe in the raised position thereof.
  • the hook 16 has on its upper face a ramp 16a intended to facilitate the introduction into the latter of the transverse axis 5 of the shoe.
  • the link 15 is mounted articulated on the guide edge 11 by means of a transverse axis 17.
  • the transverse axis 17 is also slidably mounted in the longitudinal direction relative to the guide edge 11 in oblong guide slots 18 formed inside of it.
  • a tension spring 19 is fixed on the one hand on the axis 17, and on the other hand on a shoulder 20 of the guide edge and elastically opposes any sliding movement of the link 15 forward.
  • the directions front, rear are understood respectively towards the front and the rear of the ski, i.e. to the left and right of the drawing, the longitudinal direction corresponding to the longitudinal direction of the organ, of sliding or of the shoe, and the transverse direction corresponding to a transverse direction of the sliding member / shoe.
  • the footwear of the fixing device is effected, after opening its movable jaw 12 using the lever 13, by introduction of the front axis 4 of the shoe inside the housing delimited by said jaw mobile 12, then lowering the shoe towards the sliding member, its rear axis 5 sliding on the ramp 16a of the hook 16, until said axis 5 engages inside said hook 16 as shown in Figure 3.
  • such engagement will be made possible by a slight forward / backward movement of the hook 16 made possible by the presence of the spring 19.
  • the shoe is linked to the sliding member 1 by its two front and rear axes.
  • the sliding / rotary mounting of the link 15 allows a displacement of the latter in a substantially longitudinal, and in this case vertical, plane of the shoe, allowing the link to support the lifting and bending of the shoe during the unwinding of the foot (see Figure 4).
  • the return spring 19 exerts a permanent return force on the link 15 and by consequence on the shoe 2.
  • the integration of the link and its return means inside the guide edge of the fastening device frees up the space at the front of the shoe, and allows an even greater rotational movement of the latter towards the front.
  • the fixing device shown in Figure 5 has an identical operation and the same elements will therefore be designated by identical references.
  • This connecting member 21 allows to drive the rod 15 forward simultaneously with the opening of the jaw 12, and therefore of facilitating the release and the exit from the rear axis 5 of the shoe of the hook 16.
  • the connecting member 21 does not interfere with the pivoting movement of the link 15, the latter remaining completely free and only engages with the hook 15a thereof when this the latter is in the lowered position.
  • a vertical fixed stop 22 can be provided in projection on the upper surface of the binding in order to limit the forward movement of axis 5 of the shoe and allow release in a vertical direction thereof, until it leaves the hook 16 when opening the fixing device.
  • the rod 15 has at its front end, that is to say at level of the hook 16, a "U” or yoke shape extending on either side of the stop 22.
  • the rod 15 has at its rear end a vertical flat or cam surface 15b intended to cooperate with the return spring 19 to limit the rotation of said link, and favor its return to a rest position inside the associated recess 11b of the edge of guidance from the raised position by a permanent return effect in said position.
  • the fixing device shown in FIGS. 6 and 7 has an operation which is substantially identical to the fixing devices of the previous figures, and similar or identical elements will be designated by the same references increased by 100.
  • the compression spring 119 is mounted inside the guide edge 111, of a part between the articulation axis 117 of the rod 115, and on the other hand a stop face 120 of said guide edge, located at the front of the hinge pin 117.
  • the length of the rod 115 and therefore of the center distance 105-117 can be increased by compared to the link 15 of the previous embodiments.
  • said increase in the center distance 105-117, and therefore the corresponding modification of the lever arm between the two axes 105-117 allows a stress, and therefore a response spring elastic, closer to that obtained with a natural rubber material or synthetic, and therefore more pleasant.
  • the link is, unlike the link 15 previous embodiments, articulated on the guide edge 111 outside thereof, by through its axis 117 slidably mounted in two lateral openings 111b of the edge.
  • the axis 117 is also housed in a semicircular transverse groove 141 of a bearing 140, this bearing also serving as a bearing face for the spring and comprising an axial projection 142 for the guiding the spring 119 during its compression / extension movements.
  • the interior of the recess 111b of the guide edge 111 which receives the spring 119 is lined with a metal sheath 130.
  • This sheath 130 of substantially cylindrical shape, has two grooves lateral 131 opposite the grooves 111b of the guide edge for the sliding mounting of the axis hinge 117 and extends over the greater part of the length of the recess 111b.
  • the scabbard 130 is simply split longitudinally at its lower end 132 so as to avoid contact direct from spring 119 with the upper surface of the ski.
  • the articulation of the link 115 laterally on the guide edge allows avoid the presence of an opening on the upper surface of the guide edge and therefore guarantee better sealing of the assembly; the edges and the openings 111b of the edge being covered by side walls 115b of the link.
  • the spring can be tared differently (by interposition of calibration washers, quarter-turn or screw calibration system ...) so as to modify the spring force curve and customize it according to the skier.
  • the present invention is of course not limited to a cross-country ski application but can be used for any connection of a shoe to a sliding member, including roller skating, leaving free to lift the rear part of said shoe.
