Definitions
- a tank container with a front frame and a saddle structure is known from US-A-4,593,832.
- There the saddle between the tank bottom and the front frame takes place via a front ring attached to the tank bottom and an angular profile saddle ring completely surrounding the front ring, which is welded to the front ring with an axial flange and to the diagonal struts inserted into the front frame with a radial flange.
- This saddle has proven to be suitable for transferring the forces that occur in large tank containers between the tank and the frame.
- the known concept is relatively difficult for small and medium-sized tanks.
- the end ring is provided with an axial flange directed towards the tank axis and is welded directly to four triangular and approximately "cake plate-like" shaped corner pieces, each of which has two outer axial flanges with which it has a transverse spar and corner support the relevant front frame is welded.
- This version conveys high stability, but is relatively material-intensive and correspondingly heavy for smaller tanks.
- Another saddle variant described in the same publication consists in that a U-profile ring or partial ring, which is possibly only present in the lower region, is welded to the end ring, which in turn is supported in the trough-like region by H-profile seat ring segments welded to diagonal struts of the end frame. Insulating layers are arranged between the U-profile ring and the saddle ring segments. Because of the U and H profiles used and the diagonal braces required in the four corners of the front frame, this saddle is associated with the use of materials and production costs, which is particularly justified when large tanks are to be stored on the frame in isolation.
- the invention has for its object to provide a tank container in which the saddle between the tank and end frame with the least possible use of material and weight has sufficient rigidity in any case for small and medium-sized containers and can be manufactured in a tolerance-friendly manner with the least possible manufacturing effort.
- the development according to claim 2 is advantageous in that it also leads to a substantial stiffening of the saddle when the radial flange of the end ring directed towards the tank axis is dimensioned relatively short.
- a front ring 11 is welded onto the tank base 10 concentrically to the tank axis (not shown).
- the end ring 11 is designed as an angular ring with a longer axial flange 12 and a shorter radial flange 13 directed towards the tank axis.
- the connection between the end ring 13 and the relevant corner support 14 of the container end frame (not shown in the rest) takes place via two saddle ring segments 15 , of which only one can be seen in the drawing.
- the saddle ring segment 15 is also an angular profile with a longer radial flange 16 directed away from the tank axis and a somewhat shorter axial flange 17 .
- the saddle ring segment 15 is designed such that the inner surface of its axial flange 17 has essentially the same radius as the outer surface of the end ring 11 attached to the tank bottom. Since the saddle ring segment 15 only extends over a relatively small arc angle (about 50 ° in the exemplary embodiment shown), the correspondence of the radii mentioned is not critical.
- the saddle ring segment 15 can always be inserted between the end ring 11 and corner support 14 with sufficient leg lengths in such a way that between the axial flange 17 of the saddle ring segment 15 and the axial flange 12 of the end ring 11 on the one hand and between the radial flange 16 of the saddle ring segment 15 and the relevant surface of the corner support 14 which extends radially to the tank axis, there is a tight contact and overlap so that a secure overlap welding can be carried out.
- the saddle ring segment 15 is inserted in such a way that its radial flange 16 is on the inner radial surface facing the center of the container the corner support 14 abuts.
- the saddle ring segment 15 can also be installed the other way around, so that its radial flange 16 rests on the outer surface of the corner support 14 facing away from the center of the tank. This possibility allows the control of considerable length tolerances between the tank and the frame.
- the saddle also has a connecting plate 18 , which is welded with its straight edge, which is vertical according to FIG. 1, to the inner surface of the corner support 14 facing the tank axis, and on the surface facing the middle of the tank the free edge of the Axial flange 17 of the saddle ring segment 15 is welded.
- the edge opposite the said straight edge of the connecting plate 18 is preferably cut concavely according to the radius of the saddle ring segment 15 .
- the connecting plate together with the two flanges 16 , 17 of the saddle ring segment 15 and the inner surface of the corner support 14 results in a box-like profile, which leads to a considerable stiffening of the saddle.
- the saddle ring 15 is closed at the upper and lower ends by a head plate 19 , which is welded to the end edges of the two flanges 16 , 17 of the saddle ring segment 15 , the end edge of the connecting plate 18 and the inner wall of the corner support 14 is.
- a space that is completely closed to the outside is formed.
- the head plates 19 lead to further stiffening and, at the same time, have the effect that the space which is already largely closed by the connecting plate 18 is sealed from the outside and thus the entry of moisture into the gusset area between the radial flange 17 of the saddle ring segment 15 and the inner surface of the corner support 14 is avoided .
- the head plates 19 can also be provided if the connecting plate 18 is not present.
- each head plate 19 is preferably trapezoidal, its right edge having a length corresponding to the axial flange 17 of the saddle ring element 15 , while the length of the opposite edge is dimensioned such that it covers the entire profile width of the corner support 14 in every installation position . This prevents the head plate 19 from ending within the softer side wall of the corner support 14 and leading to voltage peaks there.
- the two sheets 18 and 19 are not absolutely necessary for a reliable connection of the tank and frame. If in particular the connecting plate 18 is omitted, the entire connecting area remains accessible to the air, so that the corrosion problems mentioned will hardly occur.

Description
A tank container with a front frame and a saddle structure is known from US-A-4,593,832. There the saddle between the tank bottom and the front frame takes place via a front ring attached to the tank bottom and an angular profile saddle ring completely surrounding the front ring, which is welded to the front ring with an axial flange and to the diagonal struts inserted into the front frame with a radial flange. This saddle has proven to be suitable for transferring the forces that occur in large tank containers between the tank and the frame. However, the known concept is relatively difficult for small and medium-sized tanks.
In a variant known from the same publication, the end ring is provided with an axial flange directed towards the tank axis and is welded directly to four triangular and approximately "cake plate-like" shaped corner pieces, each of which has two outer axial flanges with which it has a transverse spar and corner support the relevant front frame is welded. This version, too, conveys high stability, but is relatively material-intensive and correspondingly heavy for smaller tanks.
Another saddle variant described in the same publication consists in that a U-profile ring or partial ring, which is possibly only present in the lower region, is welded to the end ring, which in turn is supported in the trough-like region by H-profile seat ring segments welded to diagonal struts of the end frame.
The invention has for its object to provide a tank container in which the saddle between the tank and end frame with the least possible use of material and weight has sufficient rigidity in any case for small and medium-sized containers and can be manufactured in a tolerance-friendly manner with the least possible manufacturing effort.
The solution to this problem is characterized in claim 1. Thereafter, the saddle element connecting the end ring to the end frame is reduced to ring elements which only need to cover such an arc angle that they overlap with the end frame elements in an area sufficient for connection to the end frame. The saddle ring segments are connected directly to the corner supports of the end frames, so that the vertical forces that are always present are transmitted particularly efficiently.
Thanks to the overlap between the two legs of the saddle ring segments on the one hand and the frame corner supports and the front ring attached to the tank bottom on the other hand, larger manufacturing tolerances in both the axial and radial directions can be safely mastered when assembling the tank and front frame.
The development according to claim 2 is advantageous in that it also leads to a substantial stiffening of the saddle when the radial flange of the end ring directed towards the tank axis is dimensioned relatively short.
The measures specified in claims 3 to 5 lead to a more or less closed box construction in the area of the connection between the seat ring segments and corner supports, which results in a considerable additional stiffening, wherein corrosion by setting moisture in hard-to-reach gusset areas can be avoided.

- Figure 3
- a section along III-III of Figure 1 illustrates.
As can be seen from FIGS. 1 and 2 , a front ring 11 is welded onto the
The
Regardless of tolerances with regard to the length and shape of the tank, arrangement of the end ring 11 on the
In the exemplary embodiment shown, the
In the exemplary embodiment illustrated in FIGS. 1 and 2 , the saddle also has a connecting
As can also be seen from FIG. 1 , the
As a purely stiffening measure, the
As can be seen from FIG. 3 , each
Despite the favorable properties described, the two
