Definitions
- the invention is based on a plastic button with a tiltable button plate and a riveted, rotationally symmetrical lower part.
- a plastic button is known for example from EP 0 291 047 A2.
- the button plate is connected to the hollow shaft by a relatively thin closed wall, which first extends inward from the wide button plate ring and then opens into the cylindrical outer jacket of the lower part in a gentle arc.
- the wall is designed to be flexible over its entire length, so that the button plate can be tilted in any direction by the fingers.
- This thin-walled, flexible shaping of the button plate on the lower part offers the advantage that the button plate can be inserted more easily into a buttonhole.
- the thin wall will break or tear, whereby in addition to the intended use when buttoning and unfastening, the "playful" use must also be taken into account.
- the object of the invention is therefore to design the generic plastic button so that a permanent connection with good tilting properties is achieved between the button plate and the lower part.
- a plastic button with the features specified in the characterizing part of claim 1 is proposed, wherein according to the simple embodiment of the invention, the button plate with the molded shaft and the lower part are sprayed separately from one another and then assembled like a push button.
- the upper collar edge of the lower part can be connected in one piece to the hollow shaft of the button plate via at least three tear-off connecting webs which are evenly distributed over the circumference.
- the ring flange can, after being joined, use the full shoulder width of the collar as a contact surface and tilt freely to all sides.
- the base plate also offers the possibility during riveting to hold the lower part with the shaft of the button plate which is supported on the base plate, so that the metal cover plate required for aesthetic reasons can be crimped onto the button plate before riveting.
- the plastic button shown in the figures consists of a button plate 1 with a hollow shaft 2 formed thereon and a rotationally symmetrical lower part 3 with an upwardly pointing shaft 15 which is provided with a base plate 4.
- This base plate 4 serves to fasten the button on a carrier material 5 by means of a nail 6 which is driven from the back of the material 5 into a rivet hole 7 provided for this purpose in the lower part 3.
- the hollow shaft 2 terminates at its lower end with an inwardly projecting, annular circumferential flange 8 and has in its center a hole 9 which is large enough to accommodate the lower part 3.
- the shaft 15 of the lower part 3 has at its upper end facing the shaft 2 a conically tapered collar 10 which engages behind the ring flange 8 in the assembled state with its shoulders 11 (FIGS. 3 and 4).
- the upper collar edge 12 is slightly smaller in its outer diameter “Kr” than the diameter “R” of the ring flange hole 9 and is integrally connected to it via three tear-off connecting webs 13, which are evenly distributed over the circumference of the ring flange 8.
- the conical collar 10 is dimensioned on its shoulders 11 in the outer diameter "KS" so that this collar 10 can be driven into the hole 9 with the elastic expansion of the ring flange 8.
- a widened recess 14 in relation to the rivet hole 7 is also provided in the lower part 3 in the region of the collar 10, so that the collar 10 can at the same time also be somewhat compressed when driven into the hole 9.
- the shaft 15 of the lower part 3 is also conically tapered below the shoulders 11 up to the base plate 4.
- the button plate 1 is, as is usual with such buttons, provided with a decorative metallic cover plate 16 which is flanged at its edge 17 and thereby engages behind the button plate 1.
- the button is delivered in the assembled state with a flanged cover plate 16 and can be easily riveted to the carrier material 5, as shown in FIG. 3, by supporting the shaft 2 with the ring flange 8 on the base plate 4, while from the back of the nail 6 is driven.

Description
The invention is based on a plastic button with a tiltable button plate and a riveted, rotationally symmetrical lower part. Such a plastic button is known for example from EP 0 291 047 A2.
In this button, the button plate is connected to the hollow shaft by a relatively thin closed wall, which first extends inward from the wide button plate ring and then opens into the cylindrical outer jacket of the lower part in a gentle arc. The wall is designed to be flexible over its entire length, so that the button plate can be tilted in any direction by the fingers. This thin-walled, flexible shaping of the button plate on the lower part offers the advantage that the button plate can be inserted more easily into a buttonhole. However, with frequent use there is a slight risk that the thin wall will break or tear, whereby in addition to the intended use when buttoning and unfastening, the "playful" use must also be taken into account.
The object of the invention is therefore to design the generic plastic button so that a permanent connection with good tilting properties is achieved between the button plate and the lower part.
To solve this problem, a plastic button with the features specified in the characterizing part of claim 1 is proposed, wherein according to the simple embodiment of the invention, the button plate with the molded shaft and the lower part are sprayed separately from one another and then assembled like a push button.
In order to make this assembly easier, according to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the upper collar edge of the lower part can be connected in one piece to the hollow shaft of the button plate via at least three tear-off connecting webs which are evenly distributed over the circumference. This means that the two parts can not only be produced in a single injection mold, but also have the correct position in relation to one another when they are assembled, which considerably simplifies assembly.
In the design of the button according to
Finally, with the formation of the button according to claim 4, there is the further advantage that the ring flange can, after being joined, use the full shoulder width of the collar as a contact surface and tilt freely to all sides. The base plate also offers the possibility during riveting to hold the lower part with the shaft of the button plate which is supported on the base plate, so that the metal cover plate required for aesthetic reasons can be crimped onto the button plate before riveting.

The plastic button shown in the figures consists of a button plate 1 with a
The
The
The
In order to favor the tilting movement of the
The button plate 1 is, as is usual with such buttons, provided with a decorative
