Definitions

  • the present invention essentially relates to a removable stowing device for a rear seat of a motor vehicle.
  • the present invention provides a particularly simple system, inexpensive and which can be attached to a conventional rear bench seat, of the type raised relative to the vehicle floor, this system advantageously allowing a mechanically reliable and resistant stowage, both belt buckles safety than the actual seat on the vehicle floor, in the service position and also in the folded forward storage position.
  • the subject of the invention is a device for detachably securing a rear seat of a motor vehicle and comprising a backrest mounted articulated on a seat which is itself pivotally mounted on the floor of the vehicle and which comprises a frame. equipped in the vicinity of its rear part with a bar or the like which extends substantially parallel to this rear part and which carries, on both sides of its central part, seat belt buckles, characterized in that, on the central part of the bar, is mounted at least one rod or the like comprising a free end which automatically locks on the vehicle floor when the seat is put into service and which cooperates with a locking system extending under the seat, when placing it in the folded forward position and storing the seat.
  • the aforementioned bar constitutes in a way a reinforcement of the bench seat, suitable for the attachment of elements of seat belts and the central part of which is equipped with means for automatically securing the bench to the floor of the vehicle.
  • the two ends of the bar, integral with the frame of the seat each carry at least one seat belt buckle, while on the central part of the bar which is also integral with the frame of the seat, is pivotally mounted a sleeve or the like secured to the rod and carrying a spring constantly urging said rod towards the rear of the seat.
  • the free end of the rod opposite to that secured to the aforementioned sleeve is provided with a loop possibly adjustable relative to the rod and capable of cooperating with a lock secured to the floor of the vehicle.
  • This lock consists of a fixed hook and a mobile ramp constantly urged towards the hook by a spring.
  • the locking system comprises, according to one embodiment, a sheath open at its two ends, one of which receives a first finger urged by a first spring and capable of locking in the floor of the vehicle, and the other of which receives a second ramp-shaped finger urged by a second spring and cooperating in support with the loop of the above-mentioned rod.
  • the stroke of the second finger in the sheath is limited by a pin passing through a light.
  • the above-mentioned locking system, the above-mentioned rod and the above-mentioned lock are situated substantially in the median longitudinal axis of the vehicle.
  • FIG. 1 we see a three-seater rear seat for a motor vehicle and essentially comprising a backrest 1 mounted articulated in 2 on a seat 3 itself pivotally mounted in 4 on for example the wheel arches rear of the vehicle.
  • the seat 3 is composed as known per se, and as best seen in FIG. 2, of a cushion 3a which rests on a metal frame 3b forming a bed base for the cushion 3a.
  • the frame 3b of the seat 3 is equipped, in the vicinity of its rear part, with a bar 5 which extends substantially parallel to this rear part over a length corresponding substantially to the part of seat constituting the middle place of the three-seater bench.
  • Seat belt elements or buckles 6 are anchored at the ends of the bar 5, while on the central part of the bar 5 as can be seen in FIG. 1, is a rod or the like 7 which allows automatic locking from the seat on the floor of the vehicle as will be described later in connection with operation.
  • One 7a of the ends of the rod 7 carries a sleeve 8 pivotally mounted on the bar 5 in the manner of a pin.
  • the bar 5 in its central part is fixed to the frame 3b of the seat 3 by gussets 9 between which is interposed the sleeve 8 of the rod 7, which sleeve carries a spring 10 whose ends 10a, 10b cooperate respectively with the frame 3b of the seat 3 and the rod 7 so as to constantly urge this rod towards the rear of the bench.
  • the buckles or seat belt elements 6 are, as can be seen in FIG. 1, connected to the anchor bar 5, and this between a pair of gussets 11 crossed by said bar and allowing its attachment to the frame 3b of the seat 3 of the bench.
  • the other end 7b of the rod 7 is provided with a loop 12 and a height adjustment system 13 interposed between the loop 12 and the end 7b of the rod 7 to make up for any tolerances.
  • This lock 15 consists of a fixed hook 16 capable of receiving the loop 12 of the rod 7, and of a mobile ramp 17 clearly visible in FIG. 2 and urged towards the hook 16 by a spring 18.
  • This locking system extends longitudinally under the seat in the frame 3b, and this along the median axis thereof.
  • this system essentially comprises a sheath 20 which is open at its two ends 20a and 20b.
  • the open end 20a which is directed towards the front of the vehicle when the seat is in the unfolded service position, receives a first finger or pusher 21 urged by a spring 22 and capable of locking in the floor P of the vehicle, as is will describe it in detail later.
  • the rod or the lever 7 is pulled backwards, according to arrow F, in order to release the loop 12 from the hook 16. More precisely, the loop 12, when pulling backwards of the lever 7 causes the movable ramp 17 to retract, which, after release of the loop 12 of the hook 16, resumes its place with respect to said hook thanks to the spring 18.
  • the rod or lever 7 urged by the spring 10 and therefore bearing on the stop 14 is in the position marked at B in FIG. 2, while the locking system 19 is in position C, that is to say in a position perpendicular to the floor P of the vehicle.
  • the pusher 21 is engaged in a housing (not shown) formed in the floor P.
  • the lever 7 is then folded down according to the arrow G to take the position visible at D in FIG. 2, position in which the loop 12 has crossed, by its ramp 24, the finger 23 of the locking system 19, said loop thus passing behind the finger 23, as can be seen in FIG. 2.
  • the finger 21 released from its housing in the floor P allows the springs 22, 25 contained in the sheath 20 to retract the finger 23, so that the loop 12 associated with the lever 7 is released. Therefore, the lever 7 recalled by the spring 10, automatically returns to position B, that is to say resting on the stop 14. Then, by returning the seat 3 to its horizontal position, the loop 12 the rod 7 will automatically position itself in the latch 15, that is to say more precisely in the hook 16 after having pushed the ramp 17 which, as we understand, tends to push the loop 12 towards the hook 16, so that said loop will be automatically secured under the hook.
  • the locking system 19 is in the inactive position when the seat is in the service position. Furthermore, as can be understood, after having locked the seat 3 as described above, it suffices to put the backrest 1 into service by rotating it around the articulation point 2.
  • An automatic stowage system for a vehicle rear seat has therefore been produced according to the invention, which system uses a simple and inexpensive element such as a bar fixed to the seat of the seat and capable of effectively recovering the forces to which the seat belts and the seat itself are subjected after securing.
  • the locking system 19, the rod or lever 7 for securing the bench seat, and the lock 15 fixed to the floor P of the vehicle are located substantially in the median longitudinal axis of the vehicle, so that the lever 7 only divides the vehicle storage space into two parts, which considerably facilitates vehicle loading operations.
