Definitions

  • the invention relates to a grinding and stripping device for knives and the like. with two support legs which are at an acute angle to one another and each have a grinding or peeling surface. • .. - '
  • the cutting edges of knives and similar blades must be ground with driven grinding wheels or grinding belts as soon as a certain amount of wear and thus dulling has occurred.
  • the time intervals between two regrinding processes can be selected to be considerably larger if the knives are in the meantime re-sharpened with a grinding and honing device.
  • the use of pulling steels is known.
  • pull-off devices with the features mentioned at the beginning; the two support legs, which are at an acute angle to one another, each have a peeling surface, which usually consists of a steel or ceramic body, which form a V-shaped notch in which the cutting edge of the knife is drawn along. A pull-off effect can indeed be achieved with this; Regrinding the cutting edge is not possible, however, since there is no significant material removal.
  • the object of the invention is therefore to create a grinding and honing device of the type mentioned at the outset, with which a substantial grinding effect is also achieved, so that knives and similar blades can be reground and removed.
  • the device should • be of simple construction and allow easy handling.
  • the two strip-shaped support legs are connected to each other in their upper ends by a joint and each carry a soft pad on the outside that a common sanding belt stretched over the outer sides of the two support legs and each detachable at their lower ends is fixed and that the two support legs are each connected at their lower end with a clamping device, each of which has a clamping jaw that can be clamped from below in the direction of the support leg.
  • Abrasive belt is used as an abrasive and abrasive, which can be selected with different grain sizes.
  • the soft support enables the use of sanding belt as an abrasive because the sanding belt is pressed elastically against the blade, but damage or destruction of the sanding belt is excluded. At the same time, the soft rest gives the sanding belt the necessary tension so that wrinkles are prevented. Due to the articulated connection, the support legs can be arranged in different angular positions, which are optimal for the respective grinding and honing process. The grinding and pulling device can be easily clamped on a table edge. 3 -
  • the device is of simple construction and enables easy handling. Since the device is attached to a table edge or the like before use and does not have to be held by hand, the risk of injury during use is very low.
  • the device Due to the spread arrangement of the two support legs, which are connected to one another at their upper ends, the device maintains considerable stability in its position of use. At the same time, however, the device can be folded up in a simple manner and can be stored with only a very small space requirement.
  • abrasive belt results in a sufficiently wide abrasive surface which is used uniformly over its entire width and is available in a constant width.
  • the grinding belt can be easily replaced, a sharp grinding surface is available in each case, the grain size of which can be optimally selected for the respective grinding and honing process.
  • the renewal of the grinding surface by changing the grinding belt is quick and causes only very low costs.
  • the flexible support of the sanding belt through the soft support of the support legs leads to a good sanding and pulling result.
  • a burr that arises during grinding is largely removed when removing.
  • the cutting thus formed shows excellent cutting properties; in particular, the remaining low chastity proves a very good cutting result when pulling the train.
  • the elastic support of the abrasive belt causes the material to be removed quickly and the cutting edge to be removed evenly.
  • the device is particularly suitable not only for processing knife blades and the like, but also for scissors and similar blades.
  • the two support legs consist of sheet metal profiles and have at least on one, preferably on both longitudinal edges an outwardly projecting edge strip, the height of which is less than the thickness of the soft support with the abrasive belt lying thereon.
  • edge strips form protective edges which prevent the cutting edge to be pressed against the edge of the grinding belt too tightly and thereby cut it.
  • Dadurc is also wh ⁇ possibility of damaging the sanding belt continuously when knives are sharpened, more complete ⁇ cutting close to the stitching approach a strongly curved course has, for example boning knife.
  • the lower ends of the support legs are each angled outwards and form a support foot.
  • the clamping devices preferably each grip an upper, horizontal rod over the section of the grinding belt lying on the support foot and thereby simultaneously form the clamping for the grinding belt, which can be tensioned and clamped in a simple manner.

  • Support leg 2 the ends of the grinding belt 5 are each clamped by means of a clamping plate 6, which can be clamped and released by means of a screw 7 and a nut 7 a, which is arranged on the inside of the support leg 2.
  • a clamping device 8 is provided, which in the exemplary embodiment according to FIG. 1 has a rod 9 which is movably inserted in a transverse bore of each support leg 2 and which is angled downward to a threaded rod 10 .
  • a clamping jaw 11 can be clamped against the table top 1 from below by means of a nut 12, around the supporting leg 2 - -
  • both support legs 2 are fastened to the table top 1 in the manner shown in FIG. 1, the grinding and stripping device forms a stable triangle which absorbs the forces occurring during use.
  • a knife blade 13 which is indicated in the drawing by dash-dotted lines, is preferably moved in a vertical position along the two outer sides of the support legs 2 provided with the grinding belt 5.
  • the pressure exerted and the direction of movement influence the desired grinding or peeling action.
  • the knife 13 is preferably guided in alternating circular movements on the right and on the left side of the grinding and pulling device. The subsequent removal takes place at low pressure essentially with a movement from top to bottom along the grinding belt.
  • FIGS. 2-4 differs from the previously described exemplary embodiment in that the two support legs 2 'consist of sheet metal profiles, the two longitudinal edges of which are bent outwards in such a way that they are on the two longitudinal edges of each support leg 2 'form an outwardly projecting edge strip 14 which acts as a protective edge.
  • the height of these edge strips 14 is selected such that it is somewhat less than the thickness of the soft support 4 ', which in the exemplary embodiment according to FIGS. 2-4 is made of felt, including the thickness of the sanding belt 5.
  • the protective edge 15 formed by the edge strip 14 therefore comes into contact with the blade 13 to be machined, as soon as the soft support 4 'has been pressed together to a certain extent. This prevents an excessive contact pressure from being exerted which could damage the edge of the grinding belt 5.
  • the lower ends of the support legs 2 ' are each angled outwards and form a support leg 16 which lies on the table top 1.
  • the clamping devices 8 * are screw clamps, the threaded clamping screws 10 'of which at their upper end each have a clamping plate 11' which is clamped against the table top 1 from below.
  • the sanding belt sections 5a and 5b are bent up from the edge of the Elechorofils ' loops 17 on both sides, which guide the rod 9' with play.
  • the support legs 2 ' are articulated to one another in the manner already described by a hinge 3, which can be fastened to the two support legs 2' or is formed by the latter itself.
  • one end of the belt 5 a is first clamped to the support foot 16 of the one supporting leg 2 1 by means of the clamping device 8 '.
  • the clamping device 8 'of which is still loosened, the band end 5 b, which preferably protrudes somewhat further, is pulled and held by hand while the clamping 8th -
  • the tape end 5 b is tensioned and clamped at the same time.
  • the sanding belt 5 can also be attached in another way to the soft support 4 or 4 ', for example by means of a Velcro tape or by means of adhesive.
  • the grinding belt 5 runs between the protruding corners of the edge strips 14 15 and is thereby guided and centered.
