Definitions
- the invention relates to a tubular frame, in particular a furniture, such as a chair-tubular frame made of metal, such as steel, with at least two interlocking frame sections, one of which is a tubular-curved section with at least one subsequent longitudinal section and one in the curved area lying opening in the tube wall.
- tubular chair frame in which the bow-shaped base part has two connecting portions formed by parallel legs, which run upwards and then backwards in the region of the front of the chair and carry both the seat part and the backrest .
- Two lateral support parts which form armrests in the upper region, have at their lower ends the longitudinal sections adjoining arc sections, which lie on both sides laterally on the outer sides of the connecting sections of the base part and are fastened to them in a suitable manner.
- the connecting sections on the front of the chair pass over arch sections into upwardly extending support sections and these arch sections must have relatively large radii of curvature for reasons of strength, the front support sections are relatively far in front of the effective footprint of the base part provided as a stirrup, where they can be used by the user Chairs, especially when getting up and sitting down at tables are very difficult. Since the front end of the effective footprint connects to arch sections, these arch sections also lead to a rolling effect, so that the chair can easily roll forward with a corresponding load. Similar disadvantages also exist with so-called cantilever chairs, as they have become known, for example, from the chair constructions of Mies van der Rohe and Marcel Breuer, in which, however, the base part and the support part are bent in one piece from a long tube.
- the invention has for its object to provide a tubular frame of the type described, in which the opening in the curved section can be easily made and which has a high strength in particular with a simple connection of the base part and the support part and in a simple manner as a side view essentially T- shaped, space-saving tubular frame can be formed.
- the adjoining longitudinal section is expediently essentially rectilinear and in particular the insertion access is formed by the end of this longitudinal section remote from the arc section, so that no separate opening is required as an insertion access.
- the opening made from the inside of the tube can be designed as a plug-in opening for introducing a connection section from the outside and, for its particularly secure and low-play, storage, have approximately the same internal width as the longitudinal section. In this case, there is a safe tool guide over a relatively long length.
- the connecting section is inserted with an essentially straight insertion end into the opening of the curved section which is adapted to its outer cross section and which is approximately in extension of the inner cross section of the adjoining longitudinal section and its cross section in the longitudinal direction seen the longitudinal section, substantially at most up to the limit of its inner cross section and that a securing member is provided to secure the composite connection.
- the connecting section and the longitudinal section are therefore not adjacent to one another, but rather engage in one another in a substantially flush manner, the opening lying in alignment with the inner cross section of the longitudinal section being at least approximately as large as this inner cross section, so that the end of insertion does not only fall within the area of the boundary of the Opening, but can be inserted over a longer length into the longitudinal section.
- the curvature of the curved section which is weakened in its strength by the bending process, is reinforced again by the inserting end of the base part engaging in it, so that strength is achieved in this area, which is greater than the unbent tube.
- the outer cross sections of the insertion end and thus possibly the cross section of the opening considered in the longitudinal direction of the longitudinal section can be smaller than the inner cross section of the longitudinal section, in which case the gaps between the inner circumference of the longitudinal section and the outer circumference of the one engaging therein Insert end can be filled with at least one reducing member, such as a reducing sleeve, in order to ensure an essentially play-free engagement of the insertion end in the longitudinal section.
- the insert end has an outer cross section which is adapted to the inner cross section of the longitudinal section for essentially play-free engagement, an essentially continuously flat contact of the outer circumference of the insert end with the inner circumference of the longitudinal section being particularly advantageous , however, the arrangement can also be made such that the outer circumference of the insertion end is distributed over its circumference only in the region of at least three Zones, for example linear or point-shaped, are free of play on the inner circumference of the longitudinal section.
- the basic shape of the cross section of the insertion end can also deviate from the corresponding basic shape of the longitudinal section, the basic shape in both cases being circular, oval, angular, square, or similar, for example.
- the opening even if it is to be machined, can have practically any cross section, and it is expediently designed such that it lies almost without play on the associated section of the insertion end or the connecting section over its entire circumference.
- the opening can be produced particularly easily by drilling if it is circular in axial view, in which case it has an essentially oval shape when viewed on the outside of the curve portion of the curve.
- the opening is designed to deviate from the circular shape, it can be produced with a broaching tool.
- the tool can be guided both in the production of the opening from the outside of the bend of the arc section and in the production thereof from the inside of the pipe in the longitudinal section, in the latter case the longitudinal section is expediently designed to be straight over its entire length and ends freely with its end facing away from the arch section. If the tool cross-section deviates from the inner cross-section of the longitudinal section, it is conceivable to use a suitable tool guide, for example a drill bushing, during the production of the opening in the longitudinal section. However, if the opening forms a continuation of the inner cross section of the longitudinal section, the tool can be guided directly and precisely on the inner circumference of the longitudinal section in an extremely simple manner, which results in extremely precise production without any particular effort.
- the insertion end engages with an external thread in an internal thread of the longitudinal section and / or the opening, or that at least one resilient locking member or a releasable securing member, such as a, for securing the connection Cross bolt is provided.
- the securing member is expediently formed by a seam, such as a welded or soldered seam, on the outside of the curve section along the curve Limitation of the opening is provided and can be produced, for example, by an inert gas welding.
- an adhesive connection which can then extend over the entire length of the insertion end.
- The, in particular curved, base part does not necessarily have to be designed as a tube in the embodiment according to the invention, but can also be formed by a solid rod, and like the support part, it expediently has the same external cross sections throughout its entire length, that is to say it is formed by a cut-to-length material section which is curved or straight as required, but does not require any further processing.
- the outer cross section of the base part is in any case smaller than the inner cross section of the support part, namely at most as large as this inner cross section.
- the outer cross sections of the base part to be at least the same size as that of the support part, in which case the end of the insertion must be set off in the outer cross section accordingly.
- two lateral, in particular the same, support parts are provided, which are preferably connected to one another via a common base part having two connecting sections and / or via at least one transverse connection located at a distance therefrom.
- Such cross connections are particularly necessary if a separate base part is provided for each support part and these base parts are not directly connected to one another.
- the base part is essentially U-shaped, with its U-legs forming the connection sections.
- a particularly good stability is achieved if the part of the connecting section projecting outward beyond the curved section is longer than the longitudinal section and, in particular in plan view of the base part, projects in its longitudinal direction beyond the supporting part. This is further improved if all sections of the base part and / or the longitudinal sections lie in a single base plane, preferably parallel to a standing plane of the tubular frame.
- the design according to the invention also makes it possible to design the tubular frame in such a way that it can be stacked on top of one another with the same or similar tubular frames in a narrow space, which has significant advantages, particularly in the case of seating furniture.
- This can be achieved in a simple manner in that the part of the connection section lying outside the opening is offset, in particular approximately axially parallel and / or at least approximately half the cross-sectional width of the support part or the base part, preferably inwards, relative to the insertion end.
- the end of insertion is not at least approximately the full cross-sectional width of the support part or the base part offset to the outside, it is expedient to achieve stackability if the longitudinal section opposite adjacent sections of the support part and / or the base part is offset transversely to the arch plane of the arch section by at least the missing part of the mentioned cross-sectional width relative to the adjacent sections, so that the base part of the tube frame to be stacked in each case on the tube frame below it can be inserted between the longitudinal sections of the lower tube frame via its base part until the support portions of the support parts lying in a common plane and respectively projecting upward from the associated curved portion lie at least approximately against one another.
- the sections are offset from one another by relatively short, S-shaped curved transition sections.
- this transition section between the insertion end and the rest of the connection section expediently extends directly to the opening, and it can have a length which is approximately twice the cross-sectional width of the base part, that is, in the case of its manufacture from a cylindrical tube, approximately twice its length Diameter corresponds, but can also be smaller or larger.
- the transition section expediently does not extend beyond one or the other end of the arch section, as is also conceivable, but rather lies between these ends, it being particularly advantageous if it extends almost to both ends of the arch section. With such a configuration, the arc section is therefore also curved transversely to its arc plane in addition to its arc axis.
- the support part consists, for example, of a tube 28 mm in diameter with a wall thickness of 1.5 mm, so that the outside of the curve of the curved section can be drilled with a 25 mm diameter drill bit inserted through the longitudinal section to produce the opening.
- the base part consisting of tube of the same outside diameter as the drill or the inside diameter of the support part, can then be inserted effortlessly from the outside of the curve into the curved section of the support part through the precisely fitting drilled oval hole.
- the connection point can then be inexpensively gas-shielded or soldered with a seam that is hardly visible from above.
- a tubular frame 1 which is provided for a stackable chair 2 and which can at least partially consist of non-metallic materials, such as plastic, but preferably steel tube, has essentially only three separate frame parts and, if appropriate, a seat support bracket , namely a base part 3 and two mirror-symmetrical support parts 4 lying on both sides of a vertical central plane, which are rigidly connected to each other to form a dimensionally stable frame.
- the base part 3 is formed by a bent tube bracket which is essentially U-shaped in plan view and forms the rear part of the tubular frame 1. Its U-legs protruding towards the front of the tubular frame 1 form approximately parallel connecting sections 5, the front ends of which extend to the front of the tubular frame 1.
- the U-transverse web adjoining the connecting sections via part-circular curved sections lies to the rear of the tubular frame 1 and is provided in a common plane with the connecting sections 5, forms a transverse connection of the base part 3 such that all sections of the base part 3 are in a common, parallel to the standing level of the tubular frame 1 are provided.
- each connection section 5 lies on both sides of the transition section 7 lie axially parallel to one another and diverging with respect to the opposite connection section 5 to their front ends by a small angle of, for example, approximately 1 °.
- Each support part 4 has a lower, in the plane of the base part 3, straight and freely protruding longitudinal section 9, the length of which is only about half the length of the part of the connecting section 5 projecting beyond it and which is coaxial with associated insertion end 6 is.
- the rear end of the longitudinal section 9 merges via an arc section 10 into an upwardly protruding support section 13 which is rectilinear over its entire length, the convex outer side 11 of the curvature being to the rear and the concave inner side 12 of the curvature facing away from the front of the tubular frame 1.
- the arc angle of the arc section 10 is selected to be less than 90 °, so that the support sections 13 are inclined at an acute angle to the rear, but do not extend to the rear end of the base part 3 in a plan view according to FIG. 2. All sections of the support part 4 can lie in a common plane, but the support sections 13, starting from the curved sections 10, are expediently inclined inwards at a small angle.
- a bore-like opening 14 which is smaller than half of its vertical extent and adjoins its lower end and which, viewed in the longitudinal direction of the longitudinal section 9, extends at most to its outer cross-sectional boundary, namely is congruent to the inner diameter of the longitudinal section 9.
- This opening 14 is made from the free end 16 of the longitudinal section 9, that is to say from the inside of the tube wall, the tool being guided exactly in the longitudinal section 9.
- connection section 5 is secured with a securing member 15, which in the exemplary embodiment shown is a weld seam which is practically completely covered upwards, since the longitudinal section 9 has its wall thickness in the area of the opening 14 over the outer circumference of the connection section 5 protrudes and thereby forms a protruding corner zone in which the weld seam can be placed almost invisibly.
- the average radius of curvature of the curved section 10 suitably corresponds to approximately three times the cross-sectional width or the tube diameter of the support part 4.
- the longitudinal sections 9 of the support parts 4 lie in the base plane 17 of the base part 3 due to the design described, so that the base part 3 does not stand directly on the floor , is attached to the front end of each longitudinal section 9, for example made of plastic standing block 21, which protrudes slightly above the underside of the longitudinal section 9 and at the same time expediently forms a front end cap for covering the front end of the longitudinal section 9.
- Standing blocks 22 are also provided at the rear ends of the connecting sections 5.
- a seat is inserted between the support sections 13 of the two support parts 4 and is formed, for example, on a U-shaped or frame-shaped bracket which creates a cross connection 19 between the support sections.
- the cross connection 19 is formed exclusively by a seat part of the chair 2, for example a plastic molded part.
- the support sections 13 project upwards via this cross connection 19, their upper ends forming plug pins 18, onto which a further cross connection 20 is attached, which in the exemplary embodiment shown is formed by a backrest of the chair 2, for example a plastic molded part is.
- the seat part and the backrest are not shown in FIG. 2, the seat part being able to protrude above the front ends of the support parts 4 in plan view, while the backrest extends approximately to the rear end of the base part 3 in plan view.
- connection sections 5a of the base part 3a are straight throughout their entire length, such that the insertion ends are aligned with the respectively associated remaining connection section 5a and each support part 4a is provided continuously in a common plane with the associated connection section 5a.
- FIGS. 7 to 9 show a particularly advantageous, stackable embodiment of a tubular frame 1b, in which the insertion ends 6b of the connecting sections 5b are offset to the outside, but the extent of this offset compared to that on the other side of the respective transition section 7b provided part of the associated connection section 5b corresponds only to approximately half the tube diameter of the base part 3b, so that there are significantly smaller curvatures for the transition sections 7b than in the embodiment according to FIGS. 1 to 4.
- the support sections 13b of the support parts 4b are offset to the outside by approximately the same amount with respect to the respectively associated longitudinal section 9b, such that in this case too, the support sections 13b in plan view according to FIG.
- Fig. 10 shows an embodiment in which, with the rest of the same design, the insertion end 6 consists of a straight tube section, the outer diameter of which corresponds essentially to the inner diameter of the longitudinal section 9, ie the support part 4 and the base part 3.
- the support part and the base part can thus have the same tube cross sections, and the insertion end 6 projects through the opening 14, the cross section of which corresponds to the outer diameter of the insertion end 6, both into the longitudinal section 9 and into a substantially rectilinear section 30 of the base part .
- the shape of the end face 31 of the support part 3 adjoining the arch section 10 is adapted to the curved outer surface of the arch section 10, so that there is an ideal transition in terms of both appearance and strength.
- the insertion end 6 is secured against rotation and / or displacement by the security measures described.
- both parts to be connected to each other can have the same pipe cross-sections, it is possible to carry out the insertion end from a particularly strong pipe, which not only makes the connection point particularly secure, but also the adjacent sections of the other two parts.
- FIG. 11 shows an embodiment in which a bent reinforcing tube 32 is inserted into the support part 4 in the curved section 10. This is usually introduced before bending and ensures that the lower curvature of the side support, which is particularly stressed in a chair frame, is stiffened.
- the insertion end 6, which is designed as an independent pipe section has a section with a larger diameter, which fits into the longitudinal section 30 of the support part 3, and a section 33 with a reduced diameter which passes through a correspondingly reduced diameter opening 14 extends through the arc section 10 and is adapted to the interior of the insert tube 32.
- the insertion end 6 which is designed as an independent pipe section, has a section with a larger diameter, which fits into the longitudinal section 30 of the support part 3, and a section 33 with a reduced diameter which passes through a correspondingly reduced diameter opening 14 extends through the arc section 10 and is adapted to the interior of the insert tube 32.
- Fig. 12 shows an embodiment in which the same pipe cross sections can also be used for the support part 4 and base part 3.
- the insertion end 6 is formed from the material of the base part 3, but is offset in cross-section so that it fits into the inner diameter of the support part 4 in the region of the longitudinal section 9.
- the transition from the larger diameter of the support part 3 to the smaller diameter of the insertion end 6 is designed so that it adapts to the contour of the arc section 10, so that, as in the embodiments according to FIGS. 10 and 11, the end face 31, the emerging shoulder 35 forms a stop that ensures and simplifies the mutual determination.
- Fig. 13 an embodiment of a chair frame is shown, in which the support runs out in the manner of an inverted, oblique Y in two skid-like legs forwards and backwards. While the support 4 also runs forward like a hockey stick here, the base part 3 is designed separately for each side of the chair and has a hook shape, i.e. the shape of a tube bent by more than 90 °. It penetrates through an opening 14 in the arch section 10 of the support 4 and fits into the interior of the support. In this case, the connection section can also be bent slightly to facilitate insertion.
- the reverse version is also possible, in which the support 4 is bent backwards by more than 90 ° and the base part 3 has the shape of a correspondingly less curved section (boomerang shape). In this case, the creation of a straight connection section and the position of the opening 14 are particularly easy because the opening can lie in the strongly curved section of the support part 4.
- Fig. 14 shows a table frame in which the table legs are designed in the manner of the support parts of the previously described designs.
- the support parts 4 each have a hockey stick shape on the side shown at the front.
- the openings 14 are provided and the two longitudinal sections 9 are directed towards one another, so that the table legs point obliquely outwards.
- Insert ends 6 of a tubular frame-like table frame, which forms the base part 3 protrude through the openings 14.
- a solid material e.g. made of wood.
- the attachment can be carried out by welding points, screws or rivets 38.
- the base part 3 protrudes from the just cut off end faces 39 of each support part, so that a closed frame is formed.
- both table legs are made from a common piece of pipe in which the longitudinal section 9 between runs two arc sections 10, in each of which an opening 14 is provided.
- the table frame in that the base part 3 forms U-shaped brackets which are inserted into the openings 14 and form a composite table frame together with the longitudinal section 9 running in the longitudinal direction of the table.
- connection according to the invention between the pipes or a pipe and another component can be used in a very versatile manner.
- the preferred use is in the furniture industry, but other connections can also be made easily and advantageously with it.
- the very pleasing appearance is particularly noteworthy, since the connection point remains almost invisible and the static properties are excellent, because the insertion end stiffens the connection section and also the necessary opening through this insertion end is closed and stiffened.
- the parts to be connected which are referred to in the description and in the claims as the base part and the support part, can have a wide variety of designs and functions, as can also be seen from FIG. 14.
