Abstract

1. Decorated coated textile structure comprising a flexible textile support, a coloured decorative pattern and a transparent film covering the support and the decorative pattern consists of a coloured flocking adhesive and a textile flock which overlaps the textile support on the face that is not covered by the transparent film.

Description

The present invention relates to a decorated coated textile structure such as for example a tablecloth having an improved decorative appearance as well as a method for producing such a structure.

It is well known to produce decorated coated textile structures such as tablecloths comprising a textile support and a plastic film on which a decorative pattern is then applied by printing. These products have the appearance of an oilcloth and, in general, the decorative pattern does not appear on the uncoated side of the structure.

It is also known to produce decorated coated textile structures comprising a textile support on which a decorative pattern is printed, the decorated face then being lined with a transparent thermoplastic film. These structures have the same double-sided printed decoration, the decoration on the uncoated face being generally less attractive.

The present invention aims to provide a coated coated textile structure such as for example a tablecloth having on the coated side a printed textile appearance and on the uncoated side an embroidered and attractive decorative appearance.

The coated textile structure decorated according to the invention comprises a flexible textile support, a colored decorative pattern and a transparent film covering the support and the decorative pattern in which the decorative pattern consists of a colored flocking adhesive and a textile flock. which overflows the textile support on its side not covered with transparent film.

The textile support can be a woven fabric, a knitted fabric or a non-woven fabric of natural and / or synthetic fibers. In order to give good flexibility to the final textile structure, it is generally preferred to use a textile support whose grammage is between 50 and 500 g / m 2 and, preferably between 100 and 400 g / m 2,

The flocking adhesive constituting the decorative pattern can be any conventional flocking adhesive of viscosity adapted so as to allow its deposition on the textile support in a decorative pattern.

This flocking adhesive may in particular be based on a vinyl resin such as a copolymer of vinyl chloride with vinyl acetate, maleic acid and / or acrylic nitrile, of an acrylic resin such as '' a copolymer of acrylic ester and acrylic amide or a hydroxylated polyester resin crosslinked by an isocyanate.

The flocking adhesive can be pigmented in different shades to allow the creation of multicolored decorative patterns.

The textile flock used in the textile structure according to the invention has a fiber length varying between 0.2 and 2 mm and, preferably between 0.5 and 1.5 mm, longer fiber lengths can however be envisaged.

The textile flock consists of any fibers, crushed or cut nylon or viscose fibers being preferred.

The textile flock may be colorless or be colored, its color preferably being identical to that of the flocking adhesive when the decorative pattern is produced in a single color.

The transparent film is advantageously made from a vinyl resin and in particular from plasticized polyvinyl chloride, other transparent resins can however be envisaged. The thickness of this film can vary between 0.070 and 1 mm and, preferably, between 0.150 and 0.5 mm.

The present invention also relates to a method for producing a decorated coated textile structure as described above. According to this process, a decorative motif consisting of a colored flocking adhesive is applied to one side of a flexible textile support, the decorative motif is covered by flocking using a textile flock, the textile support and the decorative motif d '' a transparent film of thermoplastic material and the textile support and the transparent film are secured by pressing.

The decorative pattern can be applied to the textile support by any printing means such as in particular flexography, screen printing, rotogravure printing, etc., the so-called rotary frame method being preferred.

Thus, it has been clarified the decorative pattern can be single-color or multi-color and in the latter case, according to the usual techniques, it is produced by successive prints.

The deposited decorative pattern is then covered in whole or in part by flocking by means of a textile flock, this covering can be achieved by mechanical or electrostatic flocking. In the case where a decorative pattern is produced by successive prints, it is possible to provide successive overlaps by flocking between the prints, the flocks used for each overlap being able to be colorless or colored differently.

The textile support and the flocked decorative pattern are then covered by a transparent film of thermoplastic material which is secured by pressing.

This last operation, namely the pressing of the transparent film on the decorated textile support, causes the textile flock to pass through the textile support and the decorative pattern and its overflow from the face of the textile support not covered with the transparent film. appearance on this side of the decorative motif in an embroidered aspect in relief.

It has also been found that this particular effect can be reinforced when the pressing of the transparent film on the decorated textile support is carried out between a hard surface and an elastic surface, the hard surface being applied to the transparent film.

Thus, remarkable results have been obtained by carrying out this pressing by passing the structure between a metal cylinder disposed on the side of the transparent film and a rubber counterpart with Shore hardness between 30 and 100.

The pressing is generally carried out hot at a temperature of 70 to 180 ° C and preferably from 100 to 180 ° C, the transparent film being able to be preheated.

In order to improve the connection between the transparent film and the decorated textile support, the film can be coated with a transparent adhesion layer such as for example a layer of vinyl plastisol before its application on the textile support.

The coated coated textile structure in accordance with the invention and its embodiment are further illustrated in more detail in the practical embodiment which follows and in the description of which reference will be made to the figures of the appended drawings in which:
  • fig. 1 shows in section a coated textile structure decorated before the application of the transparent film
  • fig. 2 shows in section a coated coated textile structure in accordance with the invention
  • fig. 3 gives a schematic view of an apparatus which can be used to produce a coated coated textile structure in accordance with FIG. 2.

ExempleExample

To make a coated coated textile structure in accordance with the invention, a woven cotton textile having a grammage of 120 g / m 2 was used and containing 24 threads per centimeter in warp and 20 threads per centimeter in weft, warp threads having a metric number of 40 and the weft yarns a metric number of 34.

This textile support 1, unwound from a spool 2, is first printed in a decorative pattern 3 by means of a flocking adhesive applied in the printing installation with a rotary frame 4. As flocking adhesive, used a pigmented composition based on crosslinkable hydroxylated polyester.

The deposited decorative pattern is then coated by flocking in the electrostatic flocking device 5 using as a flocking material a colorless flock 6 made of nylon fibers with a length of 1 mm.

After this operation, the textile support as shown in FIG. 1 is directly covered on its face decorated with a transparent film 7 of polyvinyl chloride plasticized to 70% previously coated with a plastisol of polyvinyl chloride, the association between the textile support being obtained by pressing between a metal cylinder 8 and a counterpart 9 made of Shore hardness rubber equal to 50, pressing being carried out at a temperature of 170 ° C.

After this operation, a coated textile structure decorated as shown in section in FIG. 2. It can be seen that the flock 6 which covered the decorative pattern 3 (FIG. 1), under the effect of the pressure exerted during the application of the transparent film 7 has passed through the decorative pattern 3 and the textile support 1 of so as to extend beyond the face of the textile support not covered with the transparent film.

It follows that the product thus obtained examined by its coated side has the known appearance of a printed coated textile while this same product examined by its uncoated side has an embroidered decorative appearance.

This structure is particularly suitable for making tablecloths whose coated side resists soiling during meals or during dirty work and whose uncoated side of embroidered appearance and more attractive, can be made apparent to give a richer presentation.
