5. A folding step according to one of the preceding claims, characterised in that the end surface (40) of the outer tread portion (26) in the tipped-up travel position is arranged flush with the upper edge of the vehicle floor (10) and is designed as a stop trough cover.
6. A folding step according to one of the preceding claims, characterised in that the driving mechanism (52) contains a piston/cylinder unit (54) which is arranged in the step box (14) with its longitudinal axis in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle.
