Abstract

The present invention relates to a knife grate for an opening roller (12) used for cleaning fibers and provided with a clothing. Each of the knives (16) carries a guide element extending over its length, which comprises a guide plate (25), the distance of which from the set can be adjusted. For the purpose of adjustment, the guide element comprises a flat band part (24) which rests on a broad side (26) of the knife (16), can be displaced parallel to the broad side (26) and can be detachably fastened to the knife (16). In the known devices, the adjustment of the distance x of the guide plate (25) from the set is difficult because the accessibility to the point to be measured is difficult. According to the invention, this is to be avoided in that each of the guide elements on the longitudinal side of the flat band part (24) facing away from the guide plate (25) additionally extends in the longitudinal direction of its knife (16), its back covering and towards the flat band part (24 ) has angled further band part (28).

Description

The present invention relates to a knife grate consisting of individual knives for a rotatable opening roller equipped with a set, in which grate is attached to each of the grate knives a sheet-like material which extends over the length of the knife and which is two in one the longitudinal direction of the knife extends, arranged side by side band parts, of which the first band part forms a flat surface which rests on a broad side of the knife assigned to it and the second band part forms a guide surface adjacent to the set and running in an approximately tangential direction, the latter Distance from the set can be adjusted by moving the guide element parallel to the side surface mentioned.

Such a knife grate on a cotton fiber cleaning machine is known from German Patent No. 16 85 571, in which the knives are provided with guide plates which can be adjusted in their distance from a racket. Each of the baffles has a guide surface and has a flat part, which rests on the broad side facing the racket of its knife, which is inclined to the tangential direction of the racket shell.

The distances between the guide plates and the racket are of great importance for the impeccable removal of the impurities from the fiber material. It is therefore important that these can be set precisely. The present invention is intended to improve the accuracy of the setting and, above all, to make it easier to carry out an exact setting. The invention is characterized in that each of the guide elements on the long side of the first band part facing away from the second band part has a third band part which extends in the longitudinal direction of its knife and at least partially covers its back and is angled to the first band part.

By providing the angled band parts, easily accessible places to be measured are obtained. This noticeably increases the accuracy of the setting. As a result of the angled, third band parts, there is an additional advantage of improving the stability of the guide elements and thus also the stability of the knives carrying the guide elements. In addition, the guide elements can be shaped in such a way that when the third band parts are in abutment with the knife back, the guide surfaces, i.e. the second parts of the belt come to lie very close to the clothing, touching these parts and thus damaging them is nevertheless avoided under all circumstances.

According to FIG. 1, a feed device formed by the two conveyor rollers 11 is used to feed fiber material to the opening roller 12. A clothing 13 is attached to its cylindrical outer surface. which is made up of teeth. The roller 12 is rotatable about its axis 15 in the direction of rotation indicated by the arrow 14. Knives 16 are carried at both ends by a frame, of which the frame 17 is visible in FIG. 1. The frames are pivotable about the shaft 18. The entirety of the knives 16 forms a knife grate. A guide element 19 is assigned to each knife 16. A part of the set 13 is covered by a baffle 20. A flap 21 extends away from a suction channel 22 and past the opening roller 12. A shielding wall 23 is also provided. The parts 11, 16, 19, 20, 21 and 23 extend in the direction of the axis 15 over the entire length of the roller 12.

The guide elements 19 of FIG. 1 comprise, as shown in FIG. 2, a first belt part 24 and a second belt part 25. These belt parts 24 and 25 extend in the direction of the axis 15 over the entire length of the opening roller 12. Each of the knives 16 is to the (not shown) tangent to the clothing 13 or jacket surface of the opening roller 12 obliquely. The first band part 24 is of flat shape and lies on the broad side 26 of the knife 16 facing the opening roller 12. The guide elements 19 are fastened to the knives 16 by means of screws 27. When the screw 27 is loosened, the guide element 19 can be moved as desired in the direction transverse to its longitudinal direction and parallel to the broad side 26, which is facing the set 13. It can be fixed in any position by means of the screw 27 and thus the distance shown between the second band part 25 and the clothing 13 shown in FIG. 2 can be selected and set as desired.

In the operation of the cleaning machine shown, the fiber material to be cleaned is fed to the clothing 13 by means of the conveyor rollers 11 and is carried along by the teeth of the teeth when the opening roller 12 is rotating. The impurities present in the fiber material, such as granules, dust particles and the like are flung outwards by centrifugal force and separated with the cooperation of the knives 16 and guide elements 19 from the fibers hanging from the teeth of the clothing 13 in this working phase. The fiber material then detaches from the clothing 13 in the area of the flap 21 as a result of the negative pressure generated by the suction channel 22 and the shielding wall 23 and passes through the channel 22 to the next processing stage.

The second band part 25 extends at least approximately tangentially to the clothing 13 and forms a guide plate for the fiber material. Experience has shown that in order to optimally remove the impurities from the fibers, the position of the second band piece 25, in particular in particular, its distance x from the clothing 13 is of crucial importance. In today's machines, the exact setting of a predetermined value of x is very difficult because the access to the space between the belt part 25 and the clothing 13 hinders and the view of this space is poor. To overcome these disadvantages, the guide element 19 according to the invention additionally has a third band part 28 on its side facing away from the clothing 13. This is angled to the first band part 24 and at least partially covers the back of the knife 16. In the example shown, the band part 28 and the knife back are parallel to one another. Their mutual distance is denoted by y. The distance y can be measured much more easily and precisely than the distance of the band part 25 from the clothing 13, so that tedious and arduous adjustments are eliminated.

The widths of the first band parts 24 of the guide elements 19 are advantageously dimensioned in such a way that when the third band part 28 is in contact with the back of the knife, there is just a minimal distance between the second band part 25 and the tips of the clothing 13. In this way, striking parts of the clothing 13 on the band piece 25 and mutual damage to these parts are avoided under all circumstances.

A desired distance y can be set on a scale. Such a distance can also be achieved by inserting a thickness gauge between the back of the knife 16 and the band part 28 can be set. The change in the distance x as a function of the change in the distance y depends on the angle enclosed by the band pieces 24 and 25.

While a parallel position of the third band part 28 to the back of the knife will generally be a desired embodiment, other configurations and shapes of these parts are also possible for special cases. In the embodiment shown, the knives 16 extend between the pivotable frames 17 and are fastened to and supported by them. It can be seen that, as a further advantage of the invention, the angled band part 28 requires an additional strength of the guide element 19, which also has the effect of increasing the strength of the knife 16.
