Zum Verbessern der Führung der Bürste im Haar werden die Borstenbündel effiliert, d. h. es werden unterschiedliche Borstenlängen innerhalb jedes Borstenbündels vorgesehen. Die Effilierung der Borstenbündel unterstützt die Führung durch die Kammzinken und ergibt zusammen mit der Spreizung der Borstenbündel eine optimale Haftung des Produkts an der Bürste. Zur erhöhten Aufnahme an Färbemittel erhalten die Borstenbündel auch einen Drall. Mit 6 bis 15 Windungen pro Meter Borstenbündellänge werden gute Ergebnisse erzielt. Schließlich sind die einzelnen Borsten der Borstenbündel gespreizt angeordnet wodurch beim Eintauchen der Bürste in einen Farbbehälter eine noch größere Menge an Färbemittel aufgenommen werden kann. Die Borstenbündel bzw. -büschel selbst können, ebenso wie die Zinken der kammähnlichen Mittelreihe, auf den Bürstenkörper, z.
