Description

The present invention relates to a cleaning device for pressure rollers of a combing machine which are pressed onto tear-off cylinders, in which two pressure rollers are located next to one another at least approximately the same height and above the tear-off cylinders to which they are pressed.

It is known that in combing machines, waste particles, especially individual fibers, remain on the tear-off cylinders and the associated pressure rollers, which must be disposed of. Cleaning rollers or cleaning boards, e.g. from CH-PS 478 926 known, which are provided with a plush cover, used. The fibers are caught by the plush and stick to it. However, this has the disadvantage that the plush must be cleaned periodically. The main disadvantage here is that this usually has to be done approximately every two hours, which means a relatively complex work for the operating personnel.

Furthermore, from DE-OS 15 10 736 a cleaning device for a drafting system or a fleece squeezing device can be found.

The pressure rollers used here are driven by the driven corrugating rollers in a constant direction of rotation during the stretching process via friction. The printing rollers are cleaned using the cleaning rollers already described with a felt covering.

In contrast, the cleaning of the corrugated rollers is carried out by means of cleaning rollers, which can consist of plastic with a smooth surface. These cleaning rollers are pressed against the surface of the corrugating rollers by means of a spring, the displacement of the cleaning roller being restricted by an appropriately arranged brake member. The braking element also prevents the cleaning roller from being carried along by the friction between the corrugated rollers and cleaning roller. This means that during the wiping process the cleaning roller stops and the corrugated rollers turn. A shaft of the corrugated rollers is provided with a driver, which engages at intervals in a gearwheel which is fastened coaxially on the cleaning roller. As a result, the cleaning roller is rotated intermittently against the braking effect in order to discharge the stripped components downwards. As further described in DE-OS, such a device could also be used for wiping off the printing rollers, the cleaning roller being freely rotating. However, since the pressure rollers only rotate in a constant direction of rotation, a braking device is required in order to achieve a speed difference between the cleaning roller and the pressure rollers. However, this is very complex and also prone to wear.

Based on the disadvantages that occur in the device according to the above-cited CH-A 478926, the task is to be solved to avoid the effort for cleaning work. According to the proposed solution, this is achieved by providing at least one cleaning roller which is parallel to the printing rollers, freely rotatable and has a smooth, non-fibrous outer surface and which rests on at least one of the printing rollers, their surface and that of the printing roller being of such a nature, that during operation of the combing machine, the cleaning roller slips on the pressure roller each time the direction of rotation changes.

It can be seen that in the device according to the invention, no fibers get caught on either the pressure rollers or the cleaning roller, ie the latter is self-cleaning. This eliminates the need to periodically clean the cleaning rolls or cleaning boards. The cleaning effect and self-cleaning come about because in combing machines the tear-off cylinders and the pressure rollers turn forwards and backwards during operation, whereby the starting of the rotary movements has a jerky character. Each time the rotary movement changes, there is a slip between the pressure roller and the cleaning roller, because the latter is freely rotatable and is not immediately taken along due to its special properties. This sliding creates a scraping and wiping effect. As a result, the fibers fall off the rollers as individual fibers or small tufts of fibers. It is a particular advantage of the invention that the falling fibers get onto the fleece, which extends between the pairs of tear-off cylinders and pressure rollers running side by side. Since this is a relatively small amount of fibers, the quality of the fleece does not suffer any losses.

In beiden Figuren bezeichnen gleiche Bezugszeichen gleiche Teile. The invention will now be explained in detail using exemplary embodiments and the drawing. In the latter, Fig. 1 is a schematic representation of a combing roller, tear-off cylinders, pressure rollers and a cleaning roller, seen from the side and Fig. 2 shows another embodiment of the invention, also seen from the side. In both figures, the same reference numerals designate the same parts.

Sowohl die Zylinder 16 als auch die Walzen 17 liegen parallel zueinander.1 shows a combing roller 11 with combing needles 12 attached over part of its circumference. Lower pliers 13, upper pliers 14 and, in addition to these, a fixed comb 15 are provided. There are also two tear-off cylinders 16 and two pressure rollers 17 pressed against them. Both the cylinders 16 and the rollers 17 are parallel to each other.

It consists of a fibrous material, i.e. from a material to which the fibers do not adhere but from which they fall off easily. It has a smooth, polished outer surface. The cleaning roller 19 is fixed at each of its ends by a guide 20 in its axial or longitudinal direction. The guides 20 allow free up and down movement of the axis 18 over the length of a vertical slot 21 present in the guide 20.

A band-shaped fleece 22 is held between the two pairs, each consisting of a cylinder 16 and a roller 17, and the pliers 13, 14.

The arrangement formed by the pliers 13, 14 and the fixed comb 15 can be moved back and forth against the cylinders 16 and rollers 17 into the position shown.

During operation of the combing machine, during this movement of the tongs 13, 14, the fleece 22 held by them is transferred to the pair on the right in FIG. 1, consisting of a cylinder 16 and a roller 17. On the other hand, the cylinders 16 and rollers 17 perform rotary movements in both directions of rotation during the combing of the parts 13, 14, 15 to and fro. With today's combing machines, approx. 350 comb strokes per minute are carried out with normal operation. As many rotation movements of the cylinders 16 and thus of the rollers 17 occur in both directions of rotation per minute. The mode of operation of the combing machine therefore in itself requires that the rotational movements of the pressure rollers 17 have a jerky character. As a result of this, it is evident for the present invention that because of the persistence of the cleaning roller 19, it slips on the rollers 17 each time the direction of rotation changes. As a result, the cleaning roller 19 strips the fibers from the pressure rollers 17. These fall onto the fleece 22 and are taken away by it. The amount of fibers falling off is relatively small, so that the quality of the fleece is practically unaffected. This has the advantage that the periodic cleaning of the cleaning roller 19 is unnecessary.

According to the further embodiment shown in FIG. 2 there are again two tear-off cylinders 16 and two pressure rollers 17, by means of which a fleece 22 is held and conveyed from right to left. A cleaning roller 19 rests on each printing cylinder 17. These cleaning rollers are also freely rotatable about their axes 18. They are in turn fixed in their axial direction by guides 20 and freely movable in slots in these guides in the vertical direction. A combing roller and pliers are not shown in this figure.

In the operation of the arrangement according to FIG. 2, with each reversal of the rotary movement of the pressure rollers 17, there is a slip between them and the cleaning rollers 19 and, as a result, the fibers adhering to the pressure rollers 17 are stripped. In this example, too, these fall onto the fleece 22, as a result of which the periodic cleaning of the cleaning rollers 19 is no longer necessary.

It is important in the present invention that the cleaning roller 19 slides on the pressure roller 17 or pressure rollers 17 in the correct manner. The coefficients of friction of the pressure and cleaning rollers and the contact pressure between them must be selected so that when the direction of rotation of the printing rollers 17 is reversed, slipping occurs between them and the cleaning roller 19 or cleaning rollers 19, ie the latter follow with a delayed rotation , or that there is a slip immediately between the printing rollers 17 and the cleaning roller when the direction of rotation changes. Slipping can be influenced in different ways:
  • a) The weight of the roller or its contact pressure can be chosen accordingly, for example by choosing the roller material or by providing a core of the desired weight inside the roller.
  • b) The material at the location of the outer surface of the cleaning roller can be selected in such a way that the coefficient of friction between the printing and cleaning rollers is of a size such that a slide path of the desired amount occurs. - It has proven to be advantageous to use the same material for the cleaning roller from which the pressure rollers are made. In general, the recommended material for the cleaning rollers, ie at least for their outer surfaces, is natural rubber, nitrile rubber or soft polyvinyl chloride.
  • c) The elasticity of the cleaning roller is also important. A hardness of the cleaning roller at the location of the outer surface, which lies between 65 o and 70 o Shore, proved to be advantageous.

In practice, an arrangement corresponding to FIG. 1 has proven itself, in which the combing machine worked at 350 comb strokes per minute. The length of the pressure and cleaning rollers was 34 cm. The cleaning roller had a diameter of 5 cm and its weight was 350 g. Both the printing and cleaning rollers had a nitrile rubber surface. In addition, the surfaces of the rollers were ground in the manner that is customary for printing rollers for spinning machines.
