Die Spreizhilfe mit deutlicher Längserstreckung entsprechend der Brustkörperbreite einer Person verhindert, daß seitlicher Druck auf den Oberkörper ausgeübt wird. Damit wird der Tragekomfort der Haltevorrichtung erhöht. Vorteilhaft wird auch die Gefahr einer Verletzung einer Benutzungsperson verringert, insbesondere bei ruckartiger Zugbeanspruchung auf den Haken (z.B. Fall eines gesicherten Bergsteigers). Die Vorrichtung ist leicht im Gewicht und handlich und ermöglicht optimale Bewegungsfreiheit der Person. Mehrgurtanordnungen nach dem Stand der Technik sind entbehrlich, wie auch steife großflächige Gegenpolsterschalen am Rücken (bzw. am Brustkorb vorne) entfallen können. Bei eingehängtem Haken liegt die Spreizschiene normalerweise in einem bequemen Paßsitz auf der Brustkorbvorderseite auf, wobei ein seitliches Verkanten der Spreizschiene praktisch nicht möglich ist. Die Haltevorrichtung kann in zwei Stellungen befestigt werden (Hakenöffnung unten, Hakenöffnung oben). Eine Fertigung ist einfach und kostengünstig. Wird die erfindungsgemäße Haltevorrichtung bei einem Hawaii-Trapez verwendet, stellt sie demnach ein vorteilhaftes Zusatzgerät dar. Sie dient dann als Trapezbeschlag, in dem der Trapezgürtel geführt ist.
