- the sheet metal is first pressed against the sheet holder by the drawing ring and then moved together with the latter against the pressure force acting in the drawing cushion cylinder, the sheet metal held between the sheet holder and drawing ring being simultaneously pulled by the drawing die of the one fixed on the press table Tool is deformed.
- the drawing plunger moves the sheet metal holder against the pressure force acting on the drawing cushion piston, the drawing plunger also having to overcome the inertia force caused by the acceleration of the movable sheet metal holder and die cushion mass.

- the movement of the sheet metal holder in the drawing direction can expediently be accelerated to a speed which is equal to or slightly less than the speed of the drawing ram when it is placed on the sheet metal holder.
- a pulling device is shown in a vertical section as an exemplary embodiment of the invention.
- a lower tool 3 with a fixed punch 4 and a sheet metal holder 5 movable in the drawing direction is arranged on a press table 2.
- the sheet metal holder 5 is supported via pressure pins 6 on a pressure plate 7, which is attached to the upper end of a piston rod 8, to which a piston 9 and a die cushion piston 10 are rigidly attached.
