Abstract

To produce a covering for sports fields, in particular for tennis courts, on a suitable surface, e.g. A loose fill is applied to asphalt, which at least for the most part consists of particles based on an elastic plastic, which are cuboid, platelet or scale-shaped in a geometrically defined form. The platelet-shaped or scale-like particles advantageously have a maximum thickness of 1.5 mm, in particular, however, a maximum of 1.0 mm, and perpendicular to this - in the platelet or scale plane - dimensions of maximum 5 mm. The particles can advantageously be produced on the basis of a thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer, a one- or two-component polyurethane system, a thermoplastic rubber or a modified PVD compound.

The production of the covering material is advantageously based on the particle material present in the form of a strip, which is pushed with the leading edge of the strip over a counter cutting edge and the particles are separated from the leading edge of the strip with the help of knives which interact with this counter cutting edge.

Description

The invention relates to a covering for sports fields, in particular for tennis courts, which has a loosely poured layer containing plastic particles on its surface, and a method for producing these plastic particles.

In sports such as tennis, in which the athlete has to deal with a lot of running work with starting, accelerating and often abrupt braking, grass pitches or, in the so-called hard courts, playgrounds with a surface layer of loosely poured and rolled brick powder have proven their worth. A major advantage of such brick flour places is that the athlete slides slightly with the braking leg in the event of an abrupt braking movement, thereby reducing the peak loads to be absorbed and protecting the joints and ligaments of the legs. On the other hand, elasticity, damping and the friction behavior of a rolled brick dust covering are particularly favorable.

Disadvantages of the brick flour places are the high maintenance effort; the place must be rolled and moistened regularly. If the humidity is too low, there is also a tendency to dust. The brick flour is also subject to constant wear and must be replaced from time to time. For this reason and the need for humidification, which often leads to unpleasant high humidity in closed rooms, the use of such brick dust coverings in closed sports halls problematic.

In order to avoid the disadvantages of these brick dust coverings, a sports field covering, particularly suitable for tennis courts, was proposed in CH-A-611 959, in which a carrier layer is provided in which stabilizing grains e.g. made of rubber are firmly embedded, which protrude from the carrier layer by about a third of their height dimension. A relatively thin covering layer of fine rubber granulate with a grain size of 0.5 to 1.5 mm is then applied to this carrier layer, which fills the gaps between the stabilizing grains protruding from the carrier layer and covers their tips. If the athlete now pulls away from the surface, the tips of the stabilizing grains are gripped by the profile sole of the tennis or sports shoe, which e.g. allows a perfect impression when starting. The slight slipping that is desired when braking is ensured by the fine rubber granulate of the cover layer, whereby a greater lateral displacement of the cover layer granules is largely prevented by the stabilizing grains firmly embedded in the support layer. The sports field covering known from CH-A-611959 is, however, quite complex to manufacture.

Hier will die Erfindung Abhilfe schaffen. The invention seeks to remedy this. The invention, as characterized in the claims solves the problem of a covering for S p ort p bibs, to provide in particular for tennis courts, having on its surface a loosely poured layer of plastic, and to provide a process for preparing these plastic , the topping on largely everyone any solid surface, such as on asphalt, can be applied and, if necessary, removed from it again and which is just as pleasant for the athlete in use as a brick meal area.

The invention is described below with reference to an embodiment explained by several examples.

The applicants have found that a covering according to the invention which has the desired properties can only consist of a loosely poured layer of particles based on an elastic plastic, if at least the majority of the particles used have a cuboid, plate or scale shape in a geometrically defined form are trained.

The expression "particles based on an elastic plastic" is intended to indicate that the particles can contain, in addition to the plastic, fillers, aging agents, stabilizers, processing aids, dyes and / or pigments as well as inorganic additives in the usual way.

Particles of this type have only a slight tendency to curl, which on the one hand favors a stabilization of the bed on the underbody and, on the other hand, leads to an increased braking effect with the desired slight sliding when the athlete brakes.

For the production of the particles according to the method according to the invention, a plastic band is assumed, the thickness of which is equal to one of the dimensions (for example the thickness). of the particles to be made. This plastic strip is now continuously fed from the roll with its front edge over a fixed shear bar provided with a comb-like toothed cutting edge. A rotor equipped with one or more knives works with this shear bar, the cutting edges of the knives also being comb-like teeth and interacting with the teeth of the shear bar. When the impact knives rotate, the desired small plastic particles are then cut off from the front edge of the continuously advanced plastic strip in the intended cuboid or plate shape.
