Abstract

Said method comprises the steps of: (a) introducing a gas feed stream with an absorbing liquid containing a physical solvent into the contact in the zone for removing aromatic compounds in order to obtain a saturated absorbing liquid containing aromatic compounds selected from the group consisting of benzene, toluene, o-xylene , m-xylene and p-xylene, and a gas stream depleted in these aromatic compounds; (b) bringing the gas stream obtained in step a) into contact with the solid adsorbent in the removal zone of the mercaptans to obtain a solid adsorbent saturated with RSH and a gas stream depleted in RSH.
