Abstract

In a tool having a holding element 1 with, for example, hard metal cutting edges 3, 5, the novelty resides in the fact a) that the holding element 1 has vibration-damping characteristics, and b) that the said cutting edges 3, 5 are fitted and aligned in relation to the holding element 1 so that the tool comprising the cutting edges 3, 5 and the holding element 1 would exhibit instability in operation, if the holding element 1 did not have the said vibration damping characteristics. The vibration damping characteristics thereby allow the cutting edges 3, 5 to be fitted in a way which would otherwise result in instability and resultant working marks on the work piece, but which permits faster working speeds measured in terms of the amount of material removed per unit time. <IMAGE>
