Abstract

A system for the transfer of recycled refuse from vehicles 7 to containers 3 has a compactor 1 movably mounted on rails 13 along a row of containers 3 in fixed positions, in which the hopper 23 of the compactor is accessible from a station 9 for the vehicles 7. Depending on a control system, the compactor 1 can be moved to a selected container 3 for a certain type of refuse and compress the refuse therein. Batches of refuse can thereby be distributed between different containers 3 regardless of their order and filled containers 3 can be exchanged during operation of the system.
