Abstract

The crosspiece 22 which delimits one side of the groove 4 has a considerably reduced length so that that side of the groove which is in contact with the clamping ring 6 does not overlap the adjacent end surface on the sealing ring 5. The clamping ring 6, which is arranged as a stop between a side formed by a cutout 13 in the sealing ring 15 and the opposite side of the groove 4, is no longer exclusively a secondary sealing element, which it was previously, but simultaneously serves as a holding element for fixing the sealing ring 5 in the axial direction. This arrangement makes it possible for the sealing ring to be arranged on the machine part 1 without deformation of the sealing ring 5 and for the sealing ring to be fixed by means of an easily deformable clamping ring. <IMAGE>
