I forbindelsen med at der kommer flere og flere rotter i og omkring vores byer og huse, så er det vigtigt at der laves en effektiv rottebekæmpelse. Rotter i og omkring huse i det fri bekæmpes i dag med enten gift eller fælder (klap, elektriske, levende fangst). Gift anvendes mindre på grund af resistens hos rotterne og på grund af risikoen for forgiftning af husdyr. I den forbindelse er det meget hensigtsmæssigt at anvende fælder og ikke gift. Fordelen ved gift er at man ikke skal tilse rottekasserne med gift ret ofte, mens fælder skal tilses med jævne mellemrum for at virke efter hensigten. Har man så 10 fælder omkring en gård, så tager det tid at åbne og kigge i hver rottekasse med fælde. Fælder skal være afskærmede fra husdyr, katte og hunde. Det er her en lyd- og eller et lyssignal ved udløsning af fælden er en stor fordel. Man kan nemt og hurtigt identificere en udløst fælde. Man skal dog med jævne mellerum tilse fælderne for at sikre at der er lokkemad monteret i disse. Frembringelsen kan monteres i de fleste almindelige rottekasse hvor der kan installeres en rottefælde, klap eller andet.
