Behandleren vil via sit udstyr kunne se patienten og kommunikere med denne. Patienten kan se og høre DK 2008 00018 U3 behandleren via patient kufferten og modtager sin konsultation i sit eget hjem. Patienten kan udføre eventuelle målinger, blodprøver, luftevejs test, alkohols test, vejning mv. ved at benytte de apparater, der er tilknyttet kufferten. Så snart en test er foretaget bliver data sendt til behandleren der derved klinisk kan foretage ændringer i behandlingen, samt sikre at data overføres til patientjournaler. En anden brug er fx inden for fængselsvæsenet, hvor dansk lovgivning giver visse misbrugsgrupper lov til at afsone deres straf hjemme mod at de ikke indtager angivne rusmidler, iht. regulerede regler. Ved at opsætte en patient kuffert vil man kunne kontrollere dette og sige at den indsatte overholder sin dom.
