Description

Process for the treatment of fibrous materials, in particular stalk plants, Before processing them into building and insulating material, addendum to patent 937 635 Das U.S. Patent 937,635 relates to the treatment or impregnation of fibrous materials with a basified aluminum sulfate. Further experiments have shown that one too use the commercially available aluminum sulphate, which reacts acidic in an aqueous solution can if it is processed in connection with calcium chloride (Ca C19). One uses the anhydrous salts, dissolving them separately in water, brings these solutions in each case shortly before processing together. An immediately onset of plaster of paris is caused by Mixing bitumen emulsion kept within the desired limit. Is also permissible the addition of a suitable synthetic resin emulsion. So that with the acidic reaction solution Bifumen or synthetic resin emulsions used together may only be resistant such emulsions. which do not have saponifiable emulsifiers.

The gypsum separated out during the reaction penetrates with the reaction solution into the pores of the fiber Substances set in, settle there and become encrusted. Tests have shown that these small amounts of gypsum, which are mixed in by the Bitumen are glued during the later processing of the fiber materials prepared in this way exert no harmful influence on the cement used for bonding. There is no need therefore an additional process to render plaster of paris harmless. Application example 5 kg of A12 (S 04) 3 and 7 kg of Ca C12 are dissolved in 40 kg of water. Before use both solutions are brought together and about 20 percent by weight of a bitumen emulsion added, which was produced without saponifiable emulsifiers. This can be used depending on Type of fibrous material 5o to zoo kg of fibers are impregnated.
