Soweit es sich um Profilstäbe mit dünner, überall gleicher Wandstärke handelt, hat man Blechstreifen auf Profiliermaischinen und Abkantpressen verformt, wobei sich - abgesehen von .den teuren und :mit starken Antriebskräften betriebenen Maschainen-beschränkte Schnittlängen ergeben. Dickwandige Profilotäbe ließen sich nur durch Walzen mit teuren, tief eingeschnittenen, also entsprechend schweren erzeugen, wobei jedoch Querschnitte mit sich gegen die Walzenachse verjüngenden öffnungen oder mit sich in gleicher Richtung verstärkenden Stegen vermieden werden müssen. Das an sich bekannte Abbiegen dickwandiger Streifen, selbst mit Hilfe von Kaliberwalzen, erfordert neben tief eingeschnittenen Walzen eine Vorverformung und ergibt keine auf beiden Seiten scharfkantigen Abwimklungen.
