Die mit Schwefel behandelten ungesättigten Alkohole werden zweckmäßig nach den Verfahren der USA.-Patentschriften 2 043 961 und 2 254 756 durch Umsetzen von Schwefel mit ungesättigten Alkoholen bei erhöhter Temperatur hergestellt. Zu diesem Zweck erhitzt man beispielsweise 1 Mol eines ungesättigten Alkohols mit mindestens 1 Mol Schwefel auf Temperaturen von 120 bis i8o°. Hierbei lagert sich der Schwefel an die Doppelbindungen an, indem die ursprünglich Doppelbindungen tragenden Kohlenstoffatome durch zusätzliche Schwefelbrücken miteinander verknüpft werden. Geeignete Alkohole sind z. B.
