Packaging for household containers

Description:

The invention relates to a packaging for household containers, in particular pans, pots, bowls and the like, made from a blank of cardboard or similar flat material.

Household containers of the type mentioned are usually packaged for sale in cuboid cardboard boxes, which serve on the one hand to protect the container and on the other hand for labeling. Although such cuboid boxes are easy to stack, they usually take up much more space than the packaged container. Their production is complex in terms of the material required and processing. Another disadvantage is that the conventional boxes normally do not allow the customer to inspect the packed container or check for any damage without unpacking the container from the box. This is particularly the case when such containers are offered for sale in self-service department stores, where the customer wants to inspect the goods themselves in order to make their purchase decision. A certain remedy is sometimes provided by covering the otherwise opaque box with a

either with a closed window using transparent material or with an open window. This usually increases the manufacturing costs even further without the container being able to be inspected to the desired extent. It is also known to pack household containers in completely transparent shrink wrap. However, these are made of plastic materials that should be avoided wherever possible and are also susceptible to damage, so that the packaging can easily become unsightly.

The object of the invention is to propose a packaging of the type mentioned at the beginning which, in particular while avoiding the disadvantages mentioned, is easy to produce with little material expenditure and which allows easy packing and unpacking of the container even by inexperienced persons.

This object is achieved according to the invention, among other things, in that the packaging has a base section for attachment to the outer surface of the vessel base, at least two tab sections extending from the base section essentially diametrically opposite one another, which can be folded over the vessel wall into the vessel interior, and a cover section for attachment to the inner surface of the vessel base, wherein the free ends of the tab sections can be connected to the cover section.

Such packaging ensures that the most sensitive areas of the container are covered by the packaging material. In these material areas there is also enough space for the attachment of advertising prints, instructions for use and similar labels. The remaining parts of the container, however, are only covered by relatively narrow material

The flap sections are covered by webs, so that the shape, color and other features of the container can be easily inspected by the customer without unpacking. Packing is easy to do. The container is placed with its base on the base section of the packaging blank, the existing flap sections are folded into the interior of the container for the container wall and there connected with their free ends to the cover section. Unpacking the container is just as easy. The packaging according to the invention also has the advantage that it follows the contour of the container practically closely and therefore practically no additional space is required, as is the case with cuboid-shaped packaging. The packaging according to the invention is also easy to reuse. In addition to the advantages of easy assembly, closing and fastening of the invented packaging, it can be delivered lying flat before use and stored in a space-saving manner. If the packaged container can be easily stacked, good protection during transport is also guaranteed, because direct contact with the container walls and/or base is prevented.

The packaging preferably has three or four tab sections which extend angularly symmetrically, i.e. in a star shape, from the base section. This ensures that the packaging is securely held on the container.

At least one tab section can have a recess for receiving a container handle. This represents an additional fixation of the packaging to the container without increasing the effort required for packing and unpacking. This is because one tab section only needs to be slipped with its recess over the relevant container handle when it is folded into the interior of the container.

The free ends of the tab sections are preferably detachably connected to the cover section. This has the advantage that the packaging and unpacking of the container can be done by hand and additional aids such as staples or glue are not required. In addition, this type of connection of the tab sections to the cover section has the advantage that the packaging is not damaged when opened and is therefore readily available for reuse.

In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the detachable connection can be designed, for example, as a plug-in and/or snap-in connection.

The plug-in and/or locking connection is preferably formed from a nose section and an insertion slot.

Assembly and disassembly of the packaging is made significantly easier if the nose sections are provided on the outer circumference of the cover section and the insertion slots are provided in the respective end area of the tab sections. The tab sections folded over into the inside of the container are then secured simply by pressing the cover section with its nose sections aligned with the insertion slots from above into the inside of the container after the tab sections have been folded over, whereby the nose sections snap into the insertion slots, taking advantage of the certain elasticity of the cardboard material. Unpacking is also correspondingly easy, as the nose sections are released from the insertion slots again by pressing the end areas of the tab sections towards the container wall.

The respective insertion slot is advantageously located at the height of a folding line running approximately transversely to the longitudinal extension of the tab sections, via which an end section of the tab section intended for contact with the inner surface of the vessel base is connected to the remaining part of the tab section. These end sections are then held directly against the inner surface of the vessel base by the cover section above it, which is locked into the insertion slots with its outer nose sections, and thus also securely holds the tab sections above the vessel wall.

According to a further advantageous embodiment of the invention, at least one of the tab sections is firmly connected to the cover section. In this way, the base section, tab section and cover section form an easy-to-handle unit.

The firm connection between at least one of the tab sections with the cover section can be achieved by forming these two parts as one piece, preferably via a folding line provided on the circumference of the cover section, running approximately transversely to the longitudinal extension of the tab section. In this way, it is ensured that the cover section also lies against the inner surface over a large area in the area of the tab section that is firmly connected to it, which extends to the inner surface of the vessel base.

The easy folding of the tab sections can be ensured by connecting the respective tab sections to the base section via a folding line arranged close to the outer circumference of the base section and running approximately transversely to the longitudinal extension of the tab sections.

Furthermore, in a further embodiment of the invention, the tab sections adhere particularly well to the peripheral contour of the vessel wall if the tab sections in the area associated with the upper edge of the vessel wall have at least one, preferably two, adjacent folding lines, in particular at a distance which is not significantly greater than the wall thickness of the vessel wall, running approximately transversely to the longitudinal extent of the tab sections.

In order to ensure extensive protection for the vessel bottom inside and/or outside, the circumferential contour of the cover section should be adapted to the circumferential profile of the inner surface of the vessel bottom and/or the circumferential contour of the base section should be adapted to the circumferential profile of the outer surface of the vessel bottom.

The diameter of the cover section in the area of the diametrically opposed nose sections is preferably designed to correspond to the diameter of the inner surface of the vessel base, so that after the cover section has been pressed into the interior of the vessel down to the vessel base and the nose sections have snapped into the insertion slots, the nose sections lie flush with the adjacent inner surface of the vessel wall or form a clamp fit.

The base section and/or cover section can also have a more or less large central recess to leave a "viewing window" onto the outer surface and/or the inner surface of the vessel base so that the customer can easily inspect the condition of these surfaces. In addition, the central opening of the cover section forms a disassembly aid because the cover section can be easily pulled upwards out of the vessel interior by inserting a finger.

To save material, to allow easy inspection of the packaged vessel and to allow the tab sections to be easily folded, their width should be less than 1/8 of the circumference of the upper edge of the vessel wall. For pans of a standard diameter, the width of the tab sections is, for example, in the range of a few centimeters.

If the tab sections widen towards their middle region as seen from both ends according to a further embodiment of the invention, good stability of the tab sections is achieved in the region of the upper edge of the vessel wall, i.e. in the region in which a tab section is formed which is essentially parallel to the bottom and delimited by two folding lines.

For the manufacturability and handling of the packaging according to the invention, it is further advantageous if the blank from which it consists is formed in one piece.

The packaging shown in Fig. 1 is intended for a household vessel 1 designed as a pan. It consists of a one-piece blank 2, the design of which can be seen in detail in Fig. 2. The blank 2 consists of cardboard or similar flat material. The blank 2 has a round base section 3 adapted to the shape of the pan base for attachment to the outer surface of the pan base. Four tab sections 4, 4' extend from the outer circumference 17 of the base section 3, diametrically opposite one another, i.e. in a star shape. According to Fig. 1, these four tab sections 4, 4' can be folded from the base section 3, on which the vessel 1 stands, over the vessel wall 5 into the vessel interior 6. The blank 2 also has a cover section 7, the shape of which is adapted to the inner surface of the vessel base. When the packaging is closed, the cover section 7 rests on or near the inner surface of the container base. The free ends 8, 8' of the tab sections 4, 4' are connected to the cover section 7 in this position. One tab section 4' has a recess 9 for receiving the stem-shaped container handle 10. In the area of the recess 9, the blank 2 has a support tab 11 which, as shown in Fig. 1, rests against the container handle 10 from below. In this way, despite the recess 9, excessive material weakening in this area is avoided and tearing of the blank material in the area of the recess 9 is prevented.

The free ends 8, 8' of the tab sections 4, 4' are detachably connected to the cover section 7 in that nose sections 12 provided on the outer circumference 14 of the cover section 7 engage in corresponding insertion slots 13 in the end areas of the tab sections 4 and form a plug connection. Folded tabs 23. The respective insertion slots 13 are provided at the height of a fold line 15 running approximately transversely to the longitudinal extension of the tab sections 4, via which an end section 16 of the tab section 4 intended for contact with the inner surface of the vessel bottom is connected to the remaining part of the tab section 4. The one tab section 4', on the other hand, is firmly connected, i.e. integrally connected to the cover section 7. Here too, however, in the transition area of the tab end to the cover section 7, there is a fold line 15' and a slot 13' with an adjacent nose section 12'. The nose section 12', like the other nose sections 12, also serves to center and clamp the cover section 7 to the inner surface of the vessel wall 5 immediately adjacent to the inner surface of the vessel bottom. As can be seen from Fig. 1, the respective end sections 16 of the tab sections 4 lie under the cover section 7 after they have been bent inwards around the folding line 15 and are held by the cover section 7 against the inner surface of the vessel base. In this way, the plug connection 12, 13 is subjected to less stress. The respective tab sections 4, 4' are also connected to the base section 3 via folding lines 18, 18' arranged near the outer circumference 17 of the base section 3 and running approximately transversely to the longitudinal extension of the tab sections 4, 4'. In this way, the tab sections 4, 4' can be easily bent upwards, following the outer contour of the vessel wall 5. The tab sections 4, 4' also have, in their area associated with the upper edge of the vessel wall 5, two adjacent folding lines 19, 19'; 20, 20' running approximately transversely to the longitudinal extension of the tab sections 4, 4'. The distance between the folding lines 19, 19'; 20, 20' is not significantly greater than the wall thickness of the vessel wall 5, so that the tab sections adjacent to the folding lines 19, 19'; 20, 20'

sections fit as closely as possible to the outside or inside of the vessel wall 5 and thus the packaging is firmly seated on the vessel body. As can be seen from Fig. 2, the circumferential contour of the staking section 7 is adapted to the circumferential course of the inner surface of the vessel base, just as the circumferential contour of the base section 3 is adapted to the circumferential course of the outer surface of the vessel base. The cover section 7 has a diameter in the area of its diametrically opposed nose sections 12, 12' which essentially corresponds to the diameter of the inner surface of the vessel base, so that, as already mentioned, the cover section 7 in the vessel interior 6, resting on the inner surface of the vessel base, forms a clamping fit with the inner surfaces of the vessel wall 5 or at least rests tightly against it. The base section 3 and the cover section 7 each have a central recess 21 and 22, respectively, in order to provide a view of the corresponding base surfaces in this area. As can be seen from Figs. 1 and 2, the width of the tab sections 4, 4' is less than about 1/8 of the circumferential length of the upper edge of the vessel wall 5. The tab sections 4, 4' widen from both ends towards their central area, in which the two folding lines 19, 19'; 20, 20' are provided.
