Description
- butylmercaptoessigsäure, Octylmercaptoessigsäure, ß-Dodecylmercaptoessigsäure, Cetylmercaptoessigsäure, Decylthiomilchsäure, die drei isomeren Octylmercaptobenzoesäuren, Cyclohexylmercaptoessigsäure, Methylcyclohexylthiomilchsäure, Äthyliden- oder Benzyliden-bis-mercaptoessigsäure, Äthylen-i, 2-bis-mercapto-a-propionsäure u. a. Process for reducing the corrosive influence of water and aqueous solutions on iron In patent 748 Ego, a process for protecting iron or metallic objects made of iron against corrosion by water or aqueous solutions, the pH of which does not fall below 6.5, is protected characterized in that these aqueous liquids are given water-soluble salts of acids of the general formula (R0) "- R '- CO OH, where R is any organic radical containing at least q. carbon atoms, R' is an alkylene radical which can also be substituted , and x denotes the number i or 2. It has now been found that, instead of the ether carboxylic acids of the type described, the corresponding thioether carboxylic acids in the form of their water-soluble salts can also be used with good success for protecting iron and metallic objects made of iron. Such thioether carboxylic acids are, for example, iso- or sec-butyl mercaptoacetic acid and octyl mercaptoacetic acid acid, ß-dodecyl mercaptoacetic acid, cetyl mercaptoacetic acid, decylthio lactic acid, the three isomeric octyl mercaptobenzoic acids, cyclohexyl mercaptoacetic acid, methylcyclohexylthiolactic acid, ethylidene or benzylidene-bis-propionic acid is known and can be produced among others in a wide variety of ways, for example from olefinic hydrocarbons and mercaptocarboxylic acids.
With alkalis, alkaline earths, earths, ammonia or organic bases or quaternary ammonium hydroxides provide the thioether carboxylic acids salts, the in aqueous solutions or liquids in concentrations below i% Able to prevent corrosion of iron objects.
An emulsion that protects against rust and is suitable for drilling and lubricating purposes becomes, for example, one to one third of the ammonium salt by stirring in 2% the octyl mercaptoacetic acid, which is partly produced by soft soap, Turkish red oil or Like. Can be replaced, and two-thirds of the mixture consisting of spindle oil Get water. The cyclohexylamine salt of decylthio lactic acid together gives an effective anti-corrosion oil with twenty times the amount of engine oil.
