Description
The manufacture of tight sleeves and terminations for cables with a plastic jacket or pipe-like structures causes certain difficulties. Because the transition points from the jacket of the plastic cable to the sleeve or to the end closure must be carried out with particular care. So far, for example, the socket point of a cable, as shown in Fig. i, sealed moisture-tight in the following way. After the completion of the conductor connections are on the sheath of the cable first two conically shaped transition pieces approx and then one of these two pieces connecting pipe section b made of plastic welded to one another at the joints c. The welding of the transition points now requires considerable time and is special difficult to carry out with cables or pipelines mounted directly on the wall, because the joint opposite the wall is only tangentially oriented Flame is to be heated. The welding of the transition point can be according to the invention much more reliable and convenient to perform in less time in the following ways: The connection points made in the usual way (Fig. I) are after the pieces are pushed onto the cable and joined together into a divisible Metal form embedded. If the metal mold is heated, which z. B, from the accessible Side can be done with a flame or by heating elements with which the Shaped pieces are provided, the shape transfers the heat supplied to it at the same time on the interface - The shape to be used to perform this procedure is expediently designed so (Fig. 2) that it has the shape of the to be produced inside finished transition piece. Then a plastic paste or compound is put into the Metal mold filled in, if necessary also painted on at the transition points beforehand, which has the property of being in contact with the plastic sheath of the cable and the plastic the socket or end seal to connect properly when exposed to temperatures is heated from about 100 to 20 °. The mass turns into a gel, without that to go through liquid phase. Such masses have the following composition, for example: Finely powdered high polymer polyvinyl chloride and a plasticizer such as z. B. phthalic acid esters of higher fatty alcohols, optionally with the addition of Fillers or coloring agents, such as B. Soot, metal powder, Ouarzmehl, volcano fast dyes.
Fig. 2 shows schematically the metal mold in section, which at the production of the joint shown in Fig, r is expediently used. This metal mold is provided with recesses d to be straight at the connection points the plastic cone with the cable jacket on the one hand and the tubular sleeve on the other to create so much space for the mass to be filled in that condensed areas arise here. These then have the task of ensuring a secure end seal.
Figure 3 shows, for example, one manufactured using the new process finished joint.
