1. Upholstered furniture, consisting of at least one seat element, the sides of which are partially curved in plan view, and optionally one or more backrests that can be attached to the seat base(s), characterized in that it contains at least one of three basic types of seat element (Al, A2, A3), namely a seat element (Al) that is essentially trapezoidal in plan view with a short straight base line (10) of length x, two convexly curved trapezoid legs (12) extending therefrom with a radius of curvature 2x and a long straight base line (14) running parallel to the short base line (10) at a distance x, and two mirror-symmetrical, essentially

diamond-shaped seat elements (A2, A3) with two straight sides (20, 22; 30, 32) of length &khgr; running parallel to one another at a distance &khgr; and one convex or concave side (24, 26; 34, 36) connecting them and parallel to one another with a radius of curvature of 2x.

2. Upholstered furniture according to claim 1, characterized in that the seat elements (A1, A2, A3) are upholstered bodies that can be firmly connected to one another.

3. Upholstered furniture according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the seat elements (A1, A2, A3) each have four FUBe (50) located at the corners.

4. Upholstered furniture according to one of claims 1 to 3, characterized in that it contains at least one of three basic types of backrest elements (Bl. B2. B3), namely a backrest element (Bl) which is curved in plan view and adapted in length and radius of curvature to the outer curve and inner curve of the seat elements (A1, A2, A3), a backrest element (B2) which is straight in plan view and adapted in length to the short trapezoid base line (10) and straight diamond side (20, 22? 30, 32), and a backrest element (B3) which is straight in plan view and adapted in length to the long trapezoid base line (14).

5. Upholstered furniture according to one of claims 1 to 4,

characterized in that backrests and armrests are formed by the same basic types of backrest elements (B1, B2, B3).

6. Upholstered furniture according to one of claims 1 to 5, characterized in that the backrest elements (B1, B2, B3) can be firmly connected to the seat elements (A1, A2, A3).

7. Upholstered furniture according to one of claims 1 to 6, characterized in that backrest elements (B1, B2, B3) can be attached to all side surfaces of the seat elements (A1, A2, A3).

Upholstered furniture according to one of claims 1 to 7, characterized in that the backrest elements (B1, B2, B3) protrude upwards above the seating plane of the seat elements (Al, A2, A3), whereby they can be designed as panels that preferably completely cover the side surfaces of the seat elements (Al, A2, A3) or can have a frame-like or grid-like structure.

9. Upholstered furniture according to one of claims 1 to 8, characterized in that it has at least one cushion (60) supported in a loose arrangement on a seat element (A1, A2, A3) and on a backrest element (B1, B2, B3).
