Description

In the patent 898343 high pressure lubricants are protected, which are obtained by mixing chlorinated paraffins with fatty acid salts. It has been found that the fatty acid salts in these mixtures can be wholly or partly replaced by a number of inorganic metal oxides or salts, high-pressure lubricants of the same or similarly high lubricity being obtained in bearings subjected to high pressure. The following have proven to be effective inorganic metal oxides or salts: calcium carbonate, calcium sulfate, calcium phosphate, zinc oxide; Zinc carbonate, talc or lithopone. Calcium carbonate, calcium sulfate and zinc oxide have been found to be particularly effective. Since these compounds are widely used substances that are more easily accessible than fatty acid salts, the knowledge that they can be used for the production of high-pressure lubricants mixed with chlorinated paraffins represents a further technical advance.

It is known to add calcium carbonate and calcium sulfate to consistent lubricating oil / soap-based greases in order to increase their pressure resistance. The effects resulting from this measure are, however, both in their nature and in their order of magnitude, substantially different from the lubricating effect that is achieved with the high-pressure lubricants according to the invention. Comparative measurements on the Almen-Wieland oil testing machine show that the pressure resistance of an ordinary Stauffer grease can be increased by adding calcium carbonate or calcium sulfate; The greases provided with such additives prevent the welding of bearing bolts and bearing shell, known from bearing corrosion, in high-pressure bearings, but they do not prevent the formation of deep and sharp grinding grooves on the sliding surfaces and corresponding wear of the bearing, and they are unable to reduce the bearing friction in the area to reduce high stock pressures to a noteworthy extent. In contrast, in bearings that are lubricated with the high-pressure lubricants according to the invention, even at the highest bearing pressures, there is no significant bearing wear; Bearing bolts and bearing shells remain completely smooth and bright on the sliding surfaces. You get polished. Furthermore, the measurable friction values are surprisingly low even with an extreme ... increase in the bearing pressure. The table below shows measurements on the Almen-Wieland oil testing machine. The measurements were continued either until the bearing pin and bearing shell were welded together or until the highest possible bearing pressure that could be achieved with the testing machine used. The following lubricants were used for the measurement: A pure chlorinated paraffin, B chlorinated paraffin mixed with about 13 % calcium carbonate, C chlorinated paraffin mixed with about 13% calcium sulfate, D Stauffer fat, E Stauffer fat with added 13% calcium carbonate, F Stauffer fat with added of 13 ° / a calcium sulphate. Example roo g chlorinated paraffin with a chlorine content of about 13% are mixed with 15 g calcium carbonate (whiting chalk) and mixed thoroughly.
