So muß einmal das Maul nach dem Entfernen des beim Schmieden des Schlüsselkopfes in dem Maul verbleibenden Werkstoffes, was mittels eines Lochstempels erfolgt, zylindrisch ausgebohrt werden, was insbesondere dann Schwierigkeiten bietet, wenn die beim Schmieden zur Herstellung des Maules in den Schlüsselkopf von beiden Seiten eingeschlagenen konischen Vertiefungen nicht fluchten. Ferner muß der an der Außenfläche des Schlüsselkopfes durch die Notwendigkeit, den Kopf nach beiden Maulenden hin konisch zu schmieden, entstehende Grat durch Schleifen beseitigt werden, da er anderenfalls, insbesondere beim Aufsetzen des Schlüssels auf vertieft liegende Schraubenköpfe, hinderlich sein würde.
