Description
Electrode material for high vacuum discharge tubes It is known It is necessary that electricians understand the use of high vacuum discharge tubes, especially receiver tubes with sensitive cathodes, degas well during manufacture, so in operation a good vacuum is maintained and the cathode is not poisoned. For degassing the electrodes, especially the anodes and shielding plates, are used in the manufacture of tubes and, if necessary, well annealed before installation in the tube; included it is desirable that the electrode material the gas enclosed in it surrenders as quickly and completely as possible. The invention aims to provide one Electrode material, which consists essentially of iron and the properties mentioned having.
It was previously of the opinion that iron can only be used for the production of Electrodes for tubes with sensitive cathodes can be used if there is is extremely low in carbon, especially less than carbon o, ooi%. It is also known not to serve as hot cathode internal components to manufacture high vacuum tubes from an alloy, those from a non-evaporating refractory base metal, especially nickel, and a additive to use aluminum as the main component of the electrodes in order to bind gas residues. It has now been shown that in high vacuum tubes with Eiscnclektroden despite careful Annealing treatment still occurs even if the iron is aluminum or Beryllium was added and carbon was largely removed from iron had been.
According to the invention, the electrode material used for high vacuum discharge tubes, such as receiver tubes with sensitive cathodes, in particular as a material for anodes and shielding plates, is iron with an addition of 0.1 to 1% aluminum and / or beryllium as well as between 0.03 and 0 , 5 % carbon used. This electrode material can be rapidly and completely degassed and does not cause any symptoms of poisoning even with sensitive cathodes.
In addition to the substances mentioned, you can improve the properties of the material also manganese, copper and / or silicon in the amount of oj to i% in the electrode material to be available. With the specified material, traces of sulfur and phosphorus are harmful less than with known materials.
If necessary, especially if you take the shape into account If a soft material is preferred for the electrode, the carbon can also be added subsequently can be introduced into the surface of the electrode by carburizing.
