Die Erfindung bezieht sich auf solche Hornhauthobel, die aus einer mit Griff versehenen Schutzplatte mit Schnittöffnung und einer der Schutzplatte angepaßten Deckplatte bestehen, und bei denen die Deckplatte mit einer Abwinkelung in einen länglichen Schlitz der zweischneidigen Klinge des Hornhauthobels eingreift und an der Schutzplatte dadurch gehalten wird, daß diese mit einer freistehenden Zunge in einen Schlitz der Abwinkelung der Deckplatte abgestützt zu stehen kommt.
