Nach Loslassen der Halteschenkel spreizen sich diese infolge ihrer Materialelastizität wieder nach außen nahezu in ihre ursprüngliche Stellung, wobei gleichzeitig auch die Wölbung der Stege in ihre ursprüngliche Form zurückgeht, so daß die Kappenscheibe unter Vorspannung auf die Außenfläche der Fassadenplatte gedrückt wird. Dadurch entsteht ein guter, weitgehend wasserdichter Verschluß der öffnung.
