Description
Must-destroying preservative for leather goods Preservative for leather goods, the soaps of bivalent or trivalent metals, Gege, b, enenfaJ1, s under The addition of oils or fats are already known. The soap additive is used there to protect the song against the effects of weather and moisture. Particularly It is also important to maintain the mechanical properties of the leather itself, its flexibility, toughness, etc. To achieve this purpose it is common to apply preservatives in or on the leather, such as leather oils, shoe polish or the like
It has been shown that the soaps of bivalent or trivalent metals, z. B. iron resinate, calcium oleate, chromium palmitate and similar compounds to achieve great resistance of leather to dichloro - # 'ithylstilfld (lost, Yperite, mustard gas' are suitable. This is of particular importance because clothing items for humans or animals are often made of leather. You should be in first Protect the line against cold and heat, against moisture and mechanical influences. For militaryisthe, also for certain industrial purposes, however, it becomes full of such Garments often also provide protection against the penetration of such chemicals required that are capable of damaging the wearer's skin, such as e.g. B. at Dichloroethyl sulfide is the case; but the normal protective effects should leather garments are not affected.
In order to achieve effective protection against mustard with a leather preservative, it is necessary to rub relatively large amounts of heavy metal soaps into the leather and apply them to them. On the other hand, the oil or fat content of the agent presents a certain risk, because mustard is oil-soluble and as a result could be transpured through the leather by means of the oil if the oil content significantly outweighs the soap content.
The invention therefore proposes to use a mixture of water-insoluble leather oil and soaps dissolved in turpentine oil of bivalent and / or trivalent metals with fatty or resin acids, the content of the soaps in the mixture being about 50% of the usual amount, as a destructive preservative for leather goods use. Since the soaps mentioned are often not readily soluble in the leather oils, the preparation is expediently carried out in such a way that the soaps are first dissolved or peptized in turpentine and this solution is then mixed with the leather oil. Oil of turpentine is known per se as the basis for shoe polish. It has been found that it is particularly suitable for adding significant amounts of the aforesaid soaps to the leather. Solvents customary in the paint industry, carbon tatrachloride or aminvlacetate, can also be used as carriers. Vegetable or animal, non-sulfonated oils and fats, which are acid-free, can be used as leather oil. A particular advantage of the use of a product according to the invention is that during the usual cleaning and post-treatment of the items of clothing, each time a new dissolving agent is added to the leather. The protective agent does not stick to your leather as an outer skin, like the previously known mustard preservatives, but is sucked into the leather with the oil.
NTachstehend werden zwei Ausführungsbeispiele der Erfindung mitgeteilt. Two exemplary embodiments of the invention are given below.
1. 5 kg Manganresinat werden in 5 kg Terpe.ntin unter Umrühren und Erhitzen gelöst zur Lösung A. Ebenso werden 3 g Carnaubawachs in 7 kg unvollständig raffiniertem Paraffinöl zur Lösung B gelöst.1. 5 kg of manganese resinate are dissolved in 5 kg of terpene, while stirring and heating, to form solution A. 3 g of carnauba wax are also dissolved in 7 kg of incompletely refined paraffin oil to form solution B.
ZD Zur Herstellung des Konservierungsmittels erden 5 Teile der Lösung A mit 2 Teilen der Lösung B vermengt.ZD To prepare the preservative, mix 5 parts of solution A with 2 parts of solution B.
Aluminum linoleate and 2.5 kg of zinc stearate are melted together and 5 kg of warm turpentine oil are poured over them and stirred together. This gives solution C.
3 parts of solution C are mixed with 1 part Spind, elöl.
