Abstract

The foundation block (1) is designed to be laid on a base layer of concrete in a foundation trench before the foundation concrete is poured. It is made from moulded concrete and has a main central section (2) and two lower side sections (3), all having the same flat base (21). The side sections have grooves (33) across their upper surfaces to receive reinforcing rods laid from one block to another in the trench, and the central block has a marker projection (26) to set the level for the concrete poured into the trench over the blocks. The central and side sections can have cavities (24, 32), and the block can be divided along the line of a central groove (25).
