einem gemeinsamen Sockel versehen sindare provided on a common base

Patentiert im Deutschen Reiche vom 18. Juni 1933 abPatented in the German Empire on June 18, 1933

The invention relates to a device in particular for emitting light beams serving electric discharge tube with positive column discharge and side by side Pipe ends that are provided with a common base. It has shown that when the pipe ends are both on wierden cemented to the base, the tube sometimes bursts during operation. One has found that this is due to the expansion of the tube taking place during operation is brought about. The disadvantage then mainly occurs with discharge tubes in which the discharge takes place in the vapor of a metal that is difficult to evaporate, e.g. B. Sodium, lithium, magnesium, zinc, i.e. metals whose vapor pressure is at a temperature of 2oo ° C is only a fraction of a millimeter. These discharge tubes are heated to a high temperature during operation, which gives the glass a considerable borrowed expansion is exposed.

The mentioned disadvantage is now eliminated according to the invention in that the Base is only rigidly attached to one of the pipe ends. It has been shown that as a result the bursting of the tube under the influence of thermal expansion can be avoided in a very simple manner.

It is expedient in the power supply wire (s) between the base and the pipe limb, which is not rigidly attached to the base, has an expansion curve attached so that upon expansion the tube, this (these) power supply wire (s) are also not undesirable mechanical tension caused.

In the drawing, an embodiment of the invention is shown as an example.

B. Neon,In Fig. Ι a discharge tube 1 is shown, the U-shaped and equipped with a foot 2 at both ends is on which a hot cathode 3 and an anode 4 are arranged. The tube contains a lot of noble gas, e.g. B. Neon,

unter einem Druck von einigen Millimetern· sowie eine Menge Natrium, das beim Betriebe Natriiumdampf entwickelt, so daß die Röhre dann ein intensives gelbes Licht ausstrahlt und eine positive Säulenentladung aufweist. the developed in plants Natriiumdampf under a pressure of a few mils li · meters and an amount of sodium, so that the tube then emits an intense yellow light and having a positive column discharge.

Β. ι mm vorgesehen. The tube is equipped with a base 5 : made of insulating material, for. B. asbestos cement. This base has two cylindrical recesses on the underside in which the ends of the tube are attached. The end 6 is rigidly attached to the base 5 by means of a putty or plaster of paris compound 7, which is not the case with the tubular shearer 8. Between this pipe leg and the base 5 there is a margin of ζ. Β. ι mm provided.

The base is designed as a bayonet base. The two contacts 9 are connected to the electrodes, each cathode 3 with the one surrounding it. Anode 4 is connected. Since each set of electrodes only comes with a power supply wire is provided, the hot cathodes 3 can not through a Special heating current are heated, special heating of these electrodes takes place by the discharge current itself. It would also be possible to use a to provide such a number of contact elements that special heating currents through the hot cathodes can be passed through.
